## Portfolio & Awards

### NephroSant Branding + Web
Situation
The visual cues and verbal language that define a brand take time and careful consideration to develop. In the world of startups, time is an especially precious commodity and not always available. NephroSant, a biotech company that develops pioneering diagnostic tools for the early detection of risk of kidney disease, came to Migration Marketing with a challenge. How quickly could we help them develop their brand identity and launch an updated website?
Approach
Knowing time was of the essence, we partnered with members of the marketing, sales, and executive teams at NephroSant to host a two-day brand discovery workshop. Together, we reviewed the existing NephroSant logo and branding and identified what needed to stay and what could be replaced. We also worked to develop a mission statement and vision statement, both essential assets for a rapidly growing organization. Coming out of the session, Migration Marketing developed a new and improved brand identity and guideline for NephroSant, inclusive of key branding principles to be applied across all communication touchpoints.
Success
Migration Marketing was able to create a modernized brand identity for NephroSant and immediately apply the new look and feel to their corporate website. As a result, the site was able to push live in time for critical investor meetings and industry conferences.

### HMNC Packaging
Situation
Many brands sell macadamia nuts and most focus on a Hawaiian heritage story. That’s why Hawaiian Macadamia Nut Company needed help from Migration Marketing to create a new macadamia nut brand that would immediately stand out in an already-crowded market.
Approach
We started with an in-depth competitive audit to fully understand the landscape of what other brands were doing in market. From there, we identified the white space Hawaiian Macadamia Nut Company could own and defend. After an extensive naming exploration, the name Pono was selected, which means alignment, righteousness, and balance in Hawaiian. We developed brand guidelines and a visual identity system for the Pono brand that can be applied to all future marketing materials.
Success
The comprehensive research and packaging exploration we conducted established a clear and highly differentiated space for Hawaiian Macadamia Nut Company to launch a new product.

### FIORA Branding + Packaging
Situation
Solaris Paper, the manufacturer of FIORA® paper products, wanted to do a market opportunity assessment to understand the potential for expanding their existing product lineup. As part of the research, they asked us to develop several packaging designs and comps to be submitted as testing stimuli.
Approach
We began by assembling a comprehensive list of research partners to vet based on the stated project objectives. Vendors were evaluated with a scorecard comparing research methodology, timing, cost, and ability to deliver on client-directed priorities. After selecting a vendor, we created a series of highly differentiated concepts based on our landscape assessment and extensive category research. We designed packaging to stand out at the shelf and help differentiate FIORA® from competitive products.
After we completed the research, the client selected a winning concept for final brand development. We created complete brand guidelines that included the brand story, guiding voice, messaging, and all visual principals, including typography, iconography, photography, and color systems.
Success
FIORA®’s new packaging is in development and awaiting final approval before rolling out to retailers nationwide.

### Crinetics Corporate Branding
Situation
Launching a new brand is challenging during the best of times. Launching a new brand during a global pandemic is straight-up daunting. Thankfully, the team at Crinetics Pharmaceuticals, a pharmaceutical biotech specializing in rare diseases and cancers of the endocrine system, trusted Migration Marketing to partner and help bring their vision to life.
Approach
We designed and hosted a virtual brand discovery workshop with key stakeholders from the Crinetics organization. Coming out of the session, Migration Marketing developed the Crinetics brand identity and guidelines, complete with brand values designed for each of their core audiences.
Once the brand guidelines for Crinetics were complete, Migration Marketing was tasked with developing copy and applying the visual updates for their recently launched corporate website. We worked closely with members of the corporate communications and patient advocacy teams to ensure the true spirit of Crinetics was reflected in both the language and the accompanying web page designs.
Success
We helped the organization define its brand voice and visual identity and develop a distinct brand presence in the pharmaceutical community.

### Arcane Branding + Packaging
Situation
Arcane Beverages, a startup nootropic energy drink, had finalized product development but needed to create a brand to first attract investors, then consumers. Efforts had to take into account that the new brand would be competing with the likes of Red Bull, Rockstar and Monster Energy.
Approach
Migration Marketing completed a comprehensive assessment of the energy and nootropic drinks category, carving out a white space from which to uniquely position Arcane. We then brought the brand to life both visually and verbally through packaging, web design, and sales materials, capturing all branding cues and rules in a style guide. A synthesis of significant market research conducted by Migration, along with Arcane’s comprehensive go-to-market strategy, were also compiled into a striking investor presentation.
Success
Arcane successfully secured their seed funding and is currently being sold in select retail locations and online.

### Genexa Social Media
Situation
Did you know the medicine you’re buying to help you feel better often contains artificial additives, unnecessary fillers, and common allergens? Genexa, a pharmaceutical company helping to pioneer the clean medicine movement, needed help educating the public about why they should replace their old medications with cleaner, healthier, safer ones.
Approach
It’s tough to convince people to change their behavior if they aren’t aware of the problem. That’s why we focused on educating consumers about the issue and why they should overhaul their medicine cabinets. Migration Marketing developed a social media campaign highlighting the disparity between traditional medication and Genexa products. Additionally, we developed print materials for the sales team to help educate retailers on why they should add Genexa to their product lineup.
Success
Migration Marketing raised awareness for a largely unknown issue and positioned Genexa front and center as a thought leader in the space. Paid social ad testing helped the brand determine what messaging and creative resonated strongest with consumers, informing future campaign development.

### Joybol Social Media
Situation
How do you break through and introduce a never-been-done-before product to busy Millennials? That’s the problem Kellogg’s wanted to solve when launching their granola smoothie bowl brand, Joyböl.
Approach
Early on, we decided to focus on a platform where we knew we could quickly reach our target audience: Instagram. Migration Marketing developed a series of fun and engaging Instagram posts and social media ads to generate awareness for the Joyböl brand. Playful copy, photography, and animations showcased the fun-loving nature of Joyböl while clearly articulating product benefits, getting consumers to stop the scroll and engage with our content.
Success
By inserting Joyböl into the social feeds of Millennials everywhere, we were able to enhance the brand’s digital footprint and create excitement for a widely unknown product. Joyböl has subsequently increased their social following and expanded distribution into new markets and countries.

### Trifecta Branding + Naming
Situation
A group of private investors approached us to come up with a name and build a visual identity for their new recovery center concept. Right away, the investors knew they wanted a brand that would encompass their holistic approach to wellness with a name flexible enough to allow for expansion into other business spaces.
Approach
Developing a good company name takes time and thoughtful consideration. The name needs to be distinct, memorable, unique to the category, and appealing to a variety of audiences. Additionally, a name often tells a story about the company, reflects what sets it apart, and conveys what makes it unique in the marketplace.
We started with an analysis of other companies with a similar offering to see how they were positioned. From there, we began the brainstorming process and generated a master list of names, which we then edited into a shortlist. We then selected a handful of names to go through our screening process before a final presentation and recommendation to the client.
Once the client selected a name, we were able to begin the branding exercise. We explored a variety of fonts, type treatments, and color palettes before ultimately landing on a visual identity that felt fitting for the brand.
Success
The Trifecta recovery center rollout is currently underway with the first locations slated to open this year in Costa Mesa.

### Cognition Branding
Situation
More than six million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease. By 2050, this number is projected to rise to nearly 13 million. Cognition Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotech company working to develop treatments for Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative and neuro-ophthalmic disorders. Cognition enlisted our help to develop the branding for two of their current clinical trials for Alzheimer’s and dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB).
Approach
From the beginning, we knew we wanted to incorporate the neuron already in the Cognition logo into the logos for the new studies. Neurons are nerve cells that send signals to and from the brain and maintaining the continuity of that design element throughout unifies the branding.
For the SHIMMER study, our exploration incorporated half-tone patterns representative of the vagueness and confusion often associated with DLB. Patients often report hallucinations, which we interpreted as a shimmer effect in the logo design. The shimmer is also an element that is meant to convey light and hope.
For the SHINE study, we wanted the neuron to serve as a beacon of hope for Alzheimer’s patients deciding to participate in a clinical trial. The use of purple is also a nod to the signature color for Alzheimer’s awareness. Purple represents dignity and power, which we wanted study participants to feel when looking at the branding.
Success
The final logos and color palettes were developed and deployed as part of the branding package for Cognition. Both studies are currently enrolling patients and additional information can be found on the Cognition and study websites.
