We needed support with our server infrastructure.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
M6iT installed all the servers in our company, and they’re providing support and troubleshooting services. We run a few servers, including a terminal for our office abroad, an Office 365 mail server, and one for the Magaya logistics software.
We’ve had a few hardware failures, and we relied on M6iT to negotiate with vendors, particularly with Dell. They got us free replacements for the components that failed. We’re in touch with them often, because the logistics software has the tendency to break down a lot.
M6iT needs to keep an eye on it at all times, even though we do have tech support from the provider’s side. Unfortunately, just relying on the software vendor isn’t enough.
What is the team composition?
I’m constantly in touch with about three people from M6iT. Those are the ones dealing with our company on a day-to-day basis, so I don’t have to explain things to them.
How did you come to work with M6iT?
They were hired before my time with the company. I believe they were found through one of our owners’ friends. They interviewed multiple companies and decided to go ahead with M6iT.
How much have you invested with them?
The cost per year is $23,000–$24,000. The cost varies, and it’s rarely more than $2,000 per month.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with M6iT around 2016, and our engagement is ongoing. I’ve only been working here for a bit over a year, so I don’t have an exact date.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They’ve shown themselves to be very reliable during the lockdown. We’re based in New Jersey, but the majority of our work takes place in New York. I’m the IT person on site, and I organized everyone to work remotely during the lockdown, and M6iT was extremely helpful with this.
I could always get through to them, and I can’t stress enough how bad it was. I was trying to call our VoIP vendors, and I couldn’t get through. M6iT fixed the issue with our phones. Whoever I called, they either wouldn’t answer or they’d keep me on hold for hours.
M6iT was the only company on the call. They were there and ready to provide the service, and I never had problems reaching them. We had a RAID failure, and they were very quick to replicate our Magaya installation in a different location.
M6iT has shortened our downtime from an expected 48 hours to around four hours. The system wasn’t running perfectly, but it was running four hours later. They delivered 100%.
How did M6iT perform from a project management standpoint?
Schedule updates are always performed on time, and I never need to remind them about it. If I call them, it’s never about the schedule. Updates, patches, and maintenance are always performed on time.
If it isn’t time-critical, I might shoot them an email, and I call them for more urgent things, after which I send them an email about it for their records. The communication is largely by phone, and it’s pretty convenient that I can always connect with them within 10 seconds.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Everything they’re doing, they’re doing pretty well. M6iT is really good with servers and networking, and their senior staff is highly trained. If the person I’m talking to doesn’t know something, they’ll take it upon themselves to escalate the issue to someone who does.
I never have to escalate an issue or call them and ask what happened with something. I’m dealing with everything related to IT in the company, including printers, VoIP phones, CCTV cameras, and all the vendors for them.
I know that, after I put the phone down, I’m going to have to call them back in a couple of weeks, because they won’t do it themselves. M6iT does call back. If they tell me that they’re going to find an answer and call me back, I can rest assured that they will.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, there are no areas for improvement. My boss and I are really happy with them.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
Clients should be upfront with M6iT. They’re very loyal to their customers, and I’ve had the chance to see that during the lockdown and when we had problems with vendors. We only had problems when we didn’t follow their advice.
For example, we were switching VoIP providers, and we decided to go with a company that M6iT didn’t recommend. They said that it was okay, but that they weren’t recommending it. That company was actually awful.
They did provide the service, but their customer support was ridiculous. They wouldn’t pick up the phone for hours, and, when we finally reached someone in tech support, they didn’t know what they were talking about.
I would advise customers to actually listen to what M6iT is suggesting. They've never tried to rip us off on anything or to refer us to a company that was only good because they were getting a commission from it.

What challenge were you trying to address with M6iT?
A lot of our clients require us to have very specific and comprehensive data security and privacy policies, and these days there is so much to cover that we can’t handle all of that inhouse.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
We engaged M6iT to help us put together a full data security compliance program that involves protecting all of our data storage as well as all of our end-point devices to make sure that we are safe from invasions, theft, malware or any other security threats. They also cover general IT recommendations that could help to more effectively monitor things, as well as occasional technical support on an ad hoc basis.
In addition to the actual infrastructure, all of our communication needed to be encrypted and protected from phishing, spam, etc., so they helped us to implement security practices for those as well. They use Bitdefender and Coronet software for a lot of those purposes, as well as some of their own proprietary programs.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
There are a couple particular ways in which we measure success, one of which is response time on questions or support work that we need from them. They’ve been very quick to answer all of our requests or update us as to their progress on those tasks when they are a little bit more involved.
The most important metric, however, is how secure our data actually is, and whether or not we have sufficient protections in place. I can honestly say that in the past 18 months that we’ve been working with them, we haven’t had a single incident that wasn’t blocked. That really is the bottom line for this partnership.
How did M6iT perform from a project management standpoint?
Their adherence to deadlines has been great, especially when we first launched the implementation. Getting our staff together here is like herding cats, so we certainly didn’t make it easy for them, but they were able to work with us very smoothly and quickly regardless of that. We primarily communicated over email as well as the occasional phone call, and they’ve always done a great job of being available to talk to us and answering our requests right away.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Comparatively to other support services that we’ve used, they have the best response capability I’ve ever seen. Because of the nature of our business, being able to have any issues taken care of immediately is the single biggest factor, and they have been great in terms of both the timing and quality of their responses.
Are there any areas they could improve?
The only hiccup we’ve ever run into was that in their speed in getting back to us, occasionally we’ve had two people reach out and had to tell one of them that it was already being handled. But in terms of the actual work, there hasn’t been a single instance where we had to call them and ask what was going on, because we haven’t had any issues.

If our team runs into technical problems, they’re responsible for any troubleshooting or time-sensitive inquiries. Their remote services allow them to access and correct system problems in real-time. They help me onboard and offboard employees while regulating and updating our systems. From an IT standpoint, they take a lot off my plate.
They ensured that our whole system is properly backed up. When I lost files from my computer, they were able to recover documents in an organized fashion. They also completed an Office 365 migration. Typically, they can complete their work remotely. However, I’m able to make an appointment with them if we ever need in-office assistance.

Our continuing relationship is a testament to how pleased we are with their services. Whenever I contact them, I can count on a quick response. Their sense of urgency to address our concerns and requests within our timeline is great. Whenever I open a ticket, they get back in contact with me with a way to diagnose the problem within minutes. They care about the quality of service that they provide.
How did M6iT perform from a project management standpoint?
We communicate issues through their ticketing system, and they’re able to respond to open tickets within about 10 minutes of us sending information. They’re transparent about their processes and situations that may take longer to diagnose. They’re efficient, working quickly with their in-depth knowledge of the IT space.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I was a little nervous about the idea of an outsourced IT firm because of the detriment that issues can cause. When I started working with them, I knew that it wouldn’t be an issue. They provided an emergency hotline, responding to problems after-hours if need be.

I needed a partner to help run all of our IT infrastructure as the company grew in the size of our operations.

They operate everything we use that is related to IT, including our cloud servers, integrated technologies, ERP systems, and the other elements of that infrastructure. We also worked with them to boost our cybersecurity measures, both in active email filtering and more passive measures such as firewalls and device security.
Their team handled a combination of remote and in-person tasks to provide full service to us, including servicing or replacing hardware, sharing screens to troubleshoot smaller problems, and consulting on solutions for more overarching issues we wanted to tackle with them.
What is the team composition?
We have communicated directly with the owners as well as with project managers who have been assigned to our account for specific projects over time. I’ve developed a very close relationship with the owners over the years, so we have pretty easy access to them for whatever we need.
How did you come to work with M6iT?
I was first recommended to them by a friend who was already utilizing their services. I wasn’t totally sold at first, but after our first conversations, it was extremely clear that they knew what they were doing and were far more focused on getting the job done right than the money they were making from it. Because that attitude was so apparent, we decided to make the switch to them.
How much have you invested with them?
Our monthly rate with them varies widely based on the projects we are running with them at the time. Our standard maintenance fees are around $200 a month but we spend up to $2,000 a month for specific tasks and improvements.

We started working with them around January 2012 and the partnership is still ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The two things that I was looking for most were monetary savings and better responsiveness. We’ve worked with other IT companies in the past, and the M6iT team has been easily the fairest in terms of pricing and speed of their responses and solutions, so we were extremely pleased with their performance on that front.
With other companies, the IT language that they use to describe everything really feels like a barrier between me and their decision-makers, so I pretty much have to just go along with whatever they say. With M6iT, however, they make sure that everything they say is communicated in layman’s terms so that I know exactly what I’m getting and what to expect with each different project that we take on.
How did M6iT perform from a project management standpoint?
They provide a very consistent scope of work at the beginning of each project, breaking down all of the different phases of what’s going on and how it’s going to be implemented. That includes not only what they do but how our company’s work will play into it as well and what documents are needed from our side to make sure that they stay on track. The timelines and expectations that they set in those documents are always incredibly accurate, and they often even over-deliver.
What did you find most impressive about them?
What I find most impressive about them is their ability to communicate effectively. Everything from their project directions to their explanations of different concepts and solutions demonstrates the care and effort they put into our experience working with them.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I’ve been with them for so long because they have always met and exceeded my expectations, so I really don’t have any complaints. Their service is fair, straightforward, and high-quality, and that’s pretty much the most you can ask for from an IT provider.

I am the owner of Flat Fee Florida Realty. We are a real estate brokerage and we have about five people working here. It is a small business and I am the principal broker, so I handle the marketing side of things as well as all the computer needs.

What challenge were you trying to address with M6iT?
We had an issue with our email reception, and I spent a lot of time trying to figure it out.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
They got us on cloud servers and changed the DNS servers. The issue was that the DNS was located in Russia, and I guess with COVID-19, there are more and more hacking attempts and fraud coming from Russia, China, and everywhere. Certain companies are blocking IPs coming from Russia and I didn’t know it. Our servers were not in Russia, it was just the DNS.
All the work was done remotely. I had to do some things here, but I was guided by them. There was some cybersecurity included in the work.

How did you come to work with M6iT?
We had contacted many people first and they didn’t seem to know where the problem could come from to begin with and when I started describing what was going on to Jacob, he immediately knew what it could be. He immediately figured out what the problem was just by describing what the issue was.

I worked with them in June 2020 and the work has since been completed.

He did some testing to make sure that there were no issues possible. We don’t have any problems now. I asked some of our clients who didn’t receive our emails to help us check that it was working again, and it was. Moving our services onto the cloud has made things faster and all the applications are more responsive which is basically how we measured the success of things.
How did M6iT perform from a project management standpoint?
Jacob kept us informed of what was going on. Most of the communication as far as work was mostly by email and we had three or four conversations with him.
What did you find most impressive about them?
He knew right away what the problem was. He has the knowledge and experience needed to solve just about any problem you might have. I have some abilities technically, but maybe I don’t speak the right language when it comes to technology, but I felt like I was speaking Chinese with other companies. With Jacob, he immediately knew what I was talking about. He seemed to understand where it could come from and that was what made the difference for sure.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I am happy with their service. They did the job that we needed and they were reasonably priced. They did the job in a relatively short amount of time, they moved everything onto the cloud as well.
