Langate was tasked to research and present options for the CRM / agency-wide database/webapp; implement the chosen product; and migrate archived and active data. We needed the database to accommodate all of our departments and their varied work scopes with different deliverables and KPIs. 

The project included staff and a client UI, payment integration for clients' file/document storage & organization, course management, client/membership management, case management with notes, notification & referral system, Fundraising & Engagement, all while having unified variables to run dynamic and comprehensive reports and analytics on that data for our finance and admin teams. 

The needs of our community and the services we provide are ever-growing and the database we use will have to grow with us so scalability was another major requirement of the project.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Langate helped us dissect the project into department-driven modules, with each module divided into three stages: Data Entry, Data Management & Reporting, and Testing. We measured success by accomplishing each of the set-out goals, as well as managing the project on time and on budget. 

1. Data Entry: Each Department had its own module in which Langate helped customize with specific views, fields and captured client data. 
2. Data Management & Reporting: Each Department Head would provide reports and analytics they require for day-to-day function to be recreated using the fields provided in the Data Entry stage and added if they do not exist. 
3. Testing and Scaling: As each respective department actually uses their respective module and we see they way the modules interact, we will deploy changes to our workflow as well as the database so that the database enhances our staff efficiency.

The Langate was easy to reach, and communication was clear and quick. Timezone differences were not an issue at any point; the team spent time getting to know us, our business processes and operations; and even visiting us in person so the product could match the culture and needs of the agency. The project was delivered on time (and a few pieces ahead of schedule), and on budget with clear communication in advance on any items out of scope.

I’m one of the founders and the global COO of Verified Clinical Trials. We’re a global research subject database for clinical trials.

A different software development provider created our system in 2010–2011, but it crashed — they weren’t quality developers. As a result, we engaged Langate.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Langate fixed our system. Since then, they’ve been our software developers. For context, their business split and became two different companies. One does all our hosting needs, while Langate does our software development tasks.

We work with 4–5 of their developers. We’re in contact with their CEO; we meet 3–4 times a year. Apart from that, we meet with a lead engineer and software developer weekly, and he communicates with his team about our needs. In other words, he’s our main point of contact.

Somebody recommended Langate to me. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent well over $1 million. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in January 2012, and the partnership is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We measure success through the external audits of our company and the usage of our systems. If Langate isn’t doing good software development, then we’d be in big trouble because our system wouldn’t work to protect clinical trials.

In other words, the quality of their work is measured by the system being approved and meeting industry standards. So far, we don’t have any issues, and our system doesn’t crash or go down. 

How did Langate Software perform from a project management standpoint?

They meet deadlines and stay on budget. To communicate, we use Teams and meet every week. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’re happy with their services. If we have an issue or question, people get back to us immediately. I can bring the issue directly to their CEO, who will address it. That’s the kind of relationship Langate has with their clients — they’re proactive in solving issues. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there aren’t any. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Work closely with Langate to ensure has the support they need to address your software development needs. It’s taken us years to realize how much effort is needed to explain to engineers what our system does. Now that they understand that, everyone’s job is easier as we release new services or features. 

In other words, you must put in the work as a client. On top of that, you get what you pay for, so don’t be penny-smart and dollar-foolish with your software.

Approved Admissions is a SaaS platform that tracks changes in Medicare, Medicaid, and HMO insurance coverage. We help healthcare organizations avoid billing errors by providing relevant information about patients' eligibility and coverage changes.

As a business development manager, I am responsible for bringing new business into the organization, managing customer relationships, and identifying potential competitive advantages.

We realized that we needed the right partner and the right team to succeed from the very beginning. We found both in Langate. Their in-depth industry knowledge and expert personnel supported us in achieving a 200% year-over-year growth and growing our market share 10x in 3 years.

Approved Admissions hired Langate to supplement its existing in-house development team with external developers, QAs and DBAs. Later, we also added other resources on Langate's side – billing and product support specialists, BAs, and a technical writer.

What were your goals for this project?

Initially, our goal was to reduce our technical debt and improve QA processes. But once we started to work with Langate, we quickly realized that we found the right partner that cared for the overall success of our product. They approached our engagement strategically, recommending, and implementing new approaches that allowed us to leapfrog the competition.

How did you select Langate Corp?

We required that a vendor we chose must have domain expertise in Healthcare, specifically in the Long Term Care (LTC). Langate was referred to us by others in the industry.

Based on their extensive experience in the LTC field, a track record of creating Healthcare-focused SaaS solutions, and demonstrated ability to execute on time and on-budget, we started a pilot engagement by hiring a single developer and QA to add to our existing team.

Describe the project in detail.

When we started working with Langate, our product was a one-year-old .NET-based proof-of-concept that started showing its limitations due to the product's success. We knew that we needed to rebuild it from the ground-up, but could not accomplish this with an existing in-house team due to the constant load.

Langate allowed us to significantly scale up the team while reducing our per-person costs and focusing on business objectives. With their help, our platform went through several iterations, from .NET MVC to .NET Core and from on-premise to Azure. It now processes over 1 million transactions per month and supports hundreds of healthcare organizations daily in their decision-making.

What was the team composition?

We started by adding one developer and one QA from Langate to our development team. Within a month, based on the team's feedback, level of knowledge, and execution speed by Langate's team member, we decided to expand our engagement to 3 developers and one QA.

Since that time, our engagement with Langate grew to a team of 12 people – a mix of developers, QAs, PMs, DBAs, BAs, and product support personnel. Having teams in different time zones allowed us to maintain a 14hr daily development and QA cycle with Langate and Approved Admissions teams developing in overlapping shifts.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

While working with us, Langate's team helped us find new opportunities to expand and enhance our platform. Based on their expertise in the LTC field, they've made recommendations that allowed us to expand our scope of services, gain additional market share, and reduce delivery costs, all at the same time.

One of these recommendations resulted in us building a microservice-based platform called Approved Admissions Bridge that enabled easy data transport between various disjoined source platforms.

Direct connections are established to the Internet-connected data sources through EDI/APIs or data scrubbing, and remote data collectors are installed for sources where direct connectivity is not available.

Langate helped us to:

• Grow from a dozen customers to over 700 healthcare organizations that use our platform today
• Grow transaction volume from a few thousand daily to over 1 million a month
• Expand service area to support all 50 states
• Reduce the per-transaction cost 3x!

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Our development team follows the Scrum process. This allowed Langate's team members to join our team seamlessly, and the only issue was finding a convenient time for everyone to participate in daily standups. We never experienced issues communicating with Langate's team. They are always proactive in bringing up and attempting to resolve any impediments they encounter.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Three things:

1. Expertise and deep understanding of our industry.
2. Consultative approach. They look past tactical tasks and offer strategic solutions in many cases.
3. Quality of execution. Their personnel is outstanding. We could not be happier with the quality of the team members they provided for us and their work results.

Bunddler is an e-Commerce platform that helps people shop online in foreign countries as easily, seamlessly, and inexpensively as if they did it within their own country.

This solution relies on a network of “shopping assistants” – small businesses and entrepreneurs in foreign countries that take care of order processing, payments, delivery, customer support, and other related tasks to deliver the goods to the customer.

Our platform provides the tools needed to manage this process -  starting from online order processing, payments and order tracking, to customer feedback, custom content authoring, marketing, and advertising.

We started this project almost 10 years ago. It was a startup, so our initial goal was to do the proof of concept.

We hired Langate to build an MVP of our SaaS platform. It then turned into a long-term project - a highly scalable and efficient web-based marketplace in use by users from over 15 countries.

The goal of the project was, as with almost any startup, is to introduce a new efficient process to the market, specifically a SaaS platform for shopping assistants. The solution had to meet all the standards for a modern marketplace – high load, scalability, stability, user-friendly design.

SOLUTION

How did you select Langate Corp and what were the deciding factors?

We considered several contractors and consulting firms. Langate was referred to us. After the initial conversation, they quickly understood the scope of our project and proposed to re-prioritize tasks in such a way as to allow us to onboard our first customers sooner.

The overall confidence and understanding of our business model, as well as some prior experience in the custom e-Commerce development, turned us into their customer.

Langate provided us with a team of developers, QAs, and PM who built the core functionality for us – a SaaS platform with invoice and purchase order management, customer portal, integration with payment solutions, and many other related features.

The technology that was chosen when we started the project was the ASP.NET WebForms with SQL server backend. The current version is based on the ASP.NET MVC, with some portions being rewritten in Angular for frontend with ASP.NET Core API on the backend. 

The other task which deserves separate endorsement is the development of two chatbots for Viber and Telegram messengers. Although most startups think the mobile application is a priority #1, chatbots resulted in a great success for us.

They helped us significantly increase our customer’s engagement because there is no need to install additional applications if they are already using a messenger app, and the instant nature of the response the chatbot provided.

  Even now, almost ten years after we started our partnership with Langate, we continue to use their team for improvements to the platform, updates to the code and modules.

As it was a startup, obviously, our business wouldn’t exist without Langate. Many startups fail just because they made a mistake choosing the wrong vendor. We are happy we built a successful business with Langate’s help.

Now Bunddler is a marketplace with over 1M monthly visitors and a highly efficient SaaS platform.

They were always attentive and responsive. We used SCRUM initially and switched to Kanban later after the main development phase was finished.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We were impressed by how quickly they delivered the first MVP. Also, we need to mention the quality of work went beyond our expectations. Especially the performance.

We currently have about 500k registered users with millions of visits monthly. We did compare our workloads with some other projects, and due to code efficiency, we saved significantly on hosting over the past years.

Are there any areas for improvement?

They’re an excellent partner, and I do not really know what can be improved. If you’re planning direct communications with developers over the phone or video conference, you’ll need to be aware of the time difference with Europe since some of their developers are located there.

But it’s never been a problem for us, and we actually preferred to start our days with a daily standup for the entire team.
