The major challenge was finding an affordable developer in Australia with the knowledge and industry experience to develop a specific portfolio of products. What’s most impressive about Konstant is their skill for communication and understanding. I have an incredibly competent account manager assigned to me. He takes the time to read content and listens to any communication provided. If there is any misunderstanding, he seeks clarification. He understands exactly what is required of my products and has been involved from day one. Additionally, on the rare occasion when he is not available, the other staff members are equally competent in their communication and understanding.

They were very good at helping to define the scope. The original project encompassed both a website and mobile apps for iOS and Android. Our functional needs changed as we worked on the project, so we put the mobile component on hold.

They built the website from scratch, using PHP, MySQL, and JavaScript. Although the project was large in scope, it wasn’t necessarily complex. The target audience includes diverse user groups, all of which have a particular set of functional requirements. I think the challenge for Konstant Infosolutions has been to take the user feedback I gather and find a way to implement it.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We continue to get new users, and we recently signed a fairly large enterprise user based on the demos of the platform built by Konstant Infosolutions. This has brought us into a new league in terms of user type. Our success is a direct reflection of their work. We currently have between 1,500 and 2,000 active users.

How did Konstant Infosolutions perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re very thorough and keep on top of things. They’ve worked to improve and adapt their task management. I’ve had a dedicated resource for some time, and we communicate directly. I find them to be quite organized.

We initially used their in-house project management tool, but they’ve now moved to something else. I haven’t moved over to that system yet, as I have direct contact with one person.

What did you find most impressive about Konstant Infosolutions?

They’re very adaptive. The person I work with is excellent. They’re very committed to the project, and they make sure that my needs are met. When something needs to happen quickly, they’ll pull in another resource. They’re flexible and accommodating, and they work with me to ensure the project’s success.

Are there any areas Konstant Infosolutions could improve?

The only limiting factors I’ve run into have been because they’re overseas, which I can’t really hold against them. Their work hours are different, and there are occasional misunderstandings due to the language barrier. Having a native English speaker who works North American business hours and is available for detailed conversations may improve efficiency, but I’ve not had any big issues.

We provide a website and mobile app called TweetyPad, which serves as a Twitter companion, enabling posters to create an unlimited tweet beyond the 140-character limit which the platform mandates. We do this by interfacing with a Twitter API, and post the first 140 characters of a tweet, following it with a link which visitors can access in order to view the full post hosted on our servers. In addition to this, we act as an aggregate for three other social media platforms: Facebook, LinkedIn, and Tumblr. We hope to add additional platforms to that offering.

We're a startup business, launched two weeks ago. We're in the middle of our promotional phase, hoping to get out there and hopefully go viral. We generate revenue through ads on the mobile app and website. In addition to this, we offer TweetyPad Pro for $6.99, which is an ad-free version of the platform.

I am one of the company's owners.

We're not developers and we work mainly from a business perspective.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Konstant Infosolutions fully developed our solution, including the website and iOS and Android mobile apps, handling pretty much all of the technical work, and also some logo and theme design.

How did you come to work with Konstant Infosolutions?

I had an initial idea and put a business plan together. I found an investor and conducted a lot of research. I found that in terms of cost and level of quality, and based on my research on Quora looking at other client websites and mobile apps, Konstant Infosolutions was the best choice. I was in talks with other companies but ultimately chose them. Konstant Infosolutions had a professional look and good testimonials. The communication with their team was also helpful in making my decision. So far, I've been very happy.

How much have you invested with Konstant Infosolutions?

There were a few additional requests, for which Konstant Infosolutions provided reasonable quoting. They were gracious in giving us a couple of discounts, considering that we have a great relationship. In total, the cost has been around $26,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Konstant Infosolutions in August 2016. They are still providing enhancement work and ongoing support. As we start earning revenue from the application, we will begin a second phase, which will include a handful of additional features on the website and the mobile apps. We plan on using Konstant Infosolutions for this as well.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We've just launched the platform, so there isn't a lot of feedback to share. I have seen some comments from Twitter users who've clicked on TweetyPad links. One or two persons, in particular, mentioned that it was awesome.

Achieving good traffic volume will be contingent on the marketing firm we've engaged. We're a week and a half into that effort. Today was our first day of engaging public outlets with press releases. We hope to build a lot of awareness and go viral.

How did Konstant Infosolutions perform from a project management standpoint?

I have worked with a single point of contact from Konstant Infosolutions’ side, which is their standard model. He has a technical background and has done a good job of facilitating the relationship.

The fact that we are based in New Jersey, while Konstant Infosolutions is in Jaipur, India has actually worked out to my advantage. I had a concern about the time difference of 10-and-a-half hours, but it's actually beneficial to have work done while we're sleeping and wake up to find results.

Konstant Infosolutions uses JIRA, but I primarily interface with them through email, Skype, and Google spreadsheets.

What did you find most impressive about Konstant Infosolutions?

Especially when it comes to coding, we will encounter issues, but Konstant Infosolutions' communication and responsiveness to concerns are excellent.

Are there any areas Konstant Infosolutions could improve?

The window of time for speaking with Konstant Infosolutions' team is generally between 9:30 PM and 11:00 PM EST, so I have to catch them between those times for any live conversations. Still, Konstant Infosolutions is very responsive; I can send them emails and videos, and expect my issues to be addressed overnight. It's a minor issue, but getting in touch with someone at any time of day is a typical American thing. Any negative impacts due to the time zone difference have been minimal.

We are an e-commerce portal for insurance management. Clients can use our aggregator to choose from a selected number of insurance providers, as well as log and manage claims. Our clients are both individuals and corporations. The company is comprised of six people. I am the owner of the company.

We needed to build our portal. We're not coders, so we brought in Konstant Infosolutions to build our page and the functionality behind it.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Everything was designed in-house by our team and brought to Konstant Infosolutions. The technology used was CakePHP. We essentially have an e-commerce platform, but selling insurance is a bit more complex than in the case of other goods or services. We have built a price calculation engine, as well as a customer frontend where they could visualize the details around their accounts. After a customer makes a purchase, the portal has to provide all the associated documentation, like insurance certificates and policies. At the same time, the portal needs to handle accounting between the insurers and us, which required a specific solution, not something that could be bought off-the-shelf. There is also several specific email communications which we had to implement through the portal.

Konstant Infosolutions built our whole portal from start to finish, making sure that the accounting, payments, and documentation were handled properly.

How did you come to work with Konstant Infosolutions?

We found Konstant Infosolutions through a recommendation from another company. The decision was a leap of faith. In the end, there wasn't much to choose between them, so we went for the better pricing structure, which was Konstant.

During the last year, we've sold 4,000 policies.

How did Konstant Infosolutions perform from a project management standpoint?

We've worked with 3–4 project managers from Konstant Infosolutions in total, after different people left our project. We didn't really go through transitions, but rather were told that our project manager had been changed. The development team was relatively stable, so the work carried on. Project managers were involved, but not to a large extent, especially in the day-to-day work, so we haven't felt a lot of pain during changes.

If we put pressure on them, the work got done, so Konstant Infosolutions' managers were responsive to an extent. However, each of their managers was different in style, some more involved than others. At the moment, I only contact our project managers for concerns or strategic changes. Our main interactions have been with the developers.

What did you find most impressive about Konstant Infosolutions?

From a non-technical perspective, I found Konstant Infosolutions' developers to be easy to work with, despite the four-and-a-half-hour time difference between us. They are coders and we're business people so we had to find a way to communicate and translate our business ideas into code. The same is true vice-versa; they had to explain technical things to us about database servers, web hosting, code building, etc. that we had no prior knowledge of and needed to understand. Konstant Infosolutions has been generally available and provided reasonable quality.

Are there any areas Konstant Infosolutions could improve?

We started the work from scratch. It would have helped if Konstant Infosolutions had more business knowledge outside of coding skills in order to set up a predevelopment plan. We've made some mistakes because we didn't understand coding, and Konstant Infosolutions didn't understand insurance very well.

My app allows users to RSVP to venues before their night out. I’m the founder of the company, and it’s a one man show.

I had a name and a slogan in mind, and they helped me craft the idea into a functioning app.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I had Konstant create a mobile app based on my idea. We created the wireframes together, then they really took it from the ground up and oversaw the design and functionality. They did the coding on both iOS and Android at once. They took the lead and I just played a feedback role after that. There was miscommunication about some of the functions so I ended up having to request add-ons later for more money. I had them add in some in-app notifications and a check box to verify that the user had read the terms of service.

How did you come to work with Konstant?

I found the Clutch site by doing an online search and read their reviews. I contacted both Konstant and another company. I decided on Konstant because their response time was the fastest. They were also the cheapest, by far.

How much have you invested with Konstant?

It’s around $20,000, including all the add-ons. We did a fixed-price contract for an initial scope. But I then had to clarify requirements and request add-ons, sometimes for additional money.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in August 2016 and the app launched in January 2017.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

The feedback so far has been good. People are saying that it looks professional. I have noticed that there are still some bugs to work out. I brought this to the developers’ attention and they were happy to fix them. We got about 50 registered users in the first three weeks. I’ve gotten a decent amount of local media attention as well. I don’t have any specific metrics at this time.

How did Konstant perform from a project management standpoint?

I worked with them primarily over Skype, which was challenging at times. We used Skype text a lot and Skype call when needed. They would share their screen with me sometimes to give me demos.

They gave me an initial scope document outlining what I was paying for, which was helpful to refer back to. They also gave me Excel sheets with the same information as the scope document, and those were easier to read. There were a couple times that they quoted me a price for an add-on, but I saw that it was actually part of the scope document and so I didn’t have to end up paying for those items.

What did you find most impressive about Konstant?

They were always very receptive to feedback on problems I saw with the app. They never got frustrated and were always willing to fix it, which I appreciated.

Are there any areas Konstant could improve?

Because English isn’t their first language and we always communicate over Skype, there is a bit of a communication barrier. Although they took steps to ensure we communicated well, there were times when it was hard to get my point across. It would have been easier working with a company in Canada like me, but I knew the challenges that I was going to be facing when I embarked on this. It was what I was expecting anyways.

Please describe your organization.

Sarolta Technologies is a software developer. I’m in charge of application design and development. I'm primarily an architect and work with clients who come to us with an idea. I lay out the complete operation of the site or application which needs to be built, including fundamentals like server-side requirements and so on. Once a client is happy with the initial designs, I give the specs to our development team, who will handle the ongoing development.

What business challenge were you trying to address with Konstant Infosolutions?

We have been running this business for a long time; after running into some budget problems, we decided to outsource. We tried a few companies and eventually ran into Konstant Infosolutions. It took us a long time to get comfortable enough with them, but we eventually did. 

SOLUTION

Please describe the scope of their involvement in greater detail.

I develop specs for what I need to be developed after figuring out the particular issues around the communication with an outsourcing company. Right now, I am primarily involved in designing applications with clients and giving those designs to external partners, usually Konstant Infosolutions, who use them to create the final application.

None of the tasks involve C or low-level architecture work since I don't believe that they're suited for that kind of work. I mainly assign web and mobile-application work to Konstant Infosolutions, involving the LAMP stack and mobile databases. Once a client is okay with the scope, I will request a time and budget quote from Konstant Infosolutions. These are usually rough estimates since the architecture and client requirements will often change during these types of projects. Konstant Infosolutions will have a few meetings with me at the start, and then they will pick up the project.

The good thing about working with a company like Konstant Infosolutions is that we have access to a number of people who are experts in their area. From their timesheets, I've seen that Konstant Infosolutions has used specialized UI people outside of our regular team, for example. This was done at no extra cost. Our resource was there because they were needed for 30 hours, after which they moved back to the original project. We also have a database person who will turn up for a couple of days for particular issues and who was also added to the project by Konstant Infosolutions without us having to pay extra.

How did you come to work with Konstant Infosolutions?

I found Konstant Infosolutions on Elance or a similar site. I initially gave them, as well as other groups, a couple of modules from the main project I needed to be done. I found Konstant Infosolutions to be better than many of the other candidate companies from India and Eastern Europe.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

Our current client is spending $4,700 per month for three developers from Konstant Infosolutions' team. Multiplied by 12, the total for this project has been between $60,000 and $80,000 annually. Our projects have varied, but this is a typical cost for Konstant Infosolutions' work.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Konstant Infosolutions around 2010. We have an ongoing relationship.

Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

My clients are happy with Konstant Infosolutions' work. They've delivered as required and on time. Obviously, these projects change immensely, depending on what else is inserted into the process and on any major issues that pop up.

How did Konstant Infosolutions perform from a project management standpoint?

We have frequent meetings, and I’ve set up a number of channels for making sure that the work is managed properly, including a ticket system, project management platforms, email, and Skype. Konstant Infosolutions responds immediately and according to the requirements. We get client approval and move forward until the site is ready. No site is ever complete; especially in the case of complex applications, there is a constant flow of work to be done.

We use the Agile methodology. I am a believer in building applications from scratch and constantly improving them. With startups, it's hard to pin down completion times, given the way in which businesses change. The most important thing is having someone around who is willing and able to respond to fast-changing requirements. Konstant Infosolutions is extremely responsive, compared to other companies I've dealt with that had a hard time switching from one mode to another, based on changing market requirements.

What distinguishes Konstant Infosolutions from other providers?

I've worked with local developers in Toronto on a complex video-grid processing system. We needed to build an API into that, which directly connected to low-level system calls. It was very difficult to do, even locally with people who understood what the system needed to do. We eventually got the work right, but I was surprised at Konstant Infosolutions' ability to look at that project and, in a couple of days, completely understand what would have taken other people weeks. That was one of the things I was extremely impressed with.

Konstant Infosolutions has a lot of talent in their team, and they're able to think outside the box to understand issues that other developers can’t. I'm sure that there are other good ones out there, but this level of skill is not often found.

Is there anything Konstant Infosolutions could have improved or done differently?

I’ve had some issues with Konstant Infosolutions over the years, which is true for any partner. They've sometimes been slow to respond to issues we need to fix, as changing the work approach can take time. Still, if I need them to do something or change their way of working, it will get done.

We were working together for about a year and 3 months. We have recently stopped the engagement.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

Not really. We put everything together and I told them what the performance and outcome of the app should be if I were to be putting forth a good amount of my money and allocating my budget. I am bootstrapping this. The end-result, as far as speed and performance, as well as technical skills for getting everything together were good. Their staff is good, but the performance of the app is kind of sub-par. There wasn't any room for growth.

Do you feel that the project was successful?

iOS has moved from Swift 1; now they're working on Swift 3. I was under the impression that we would be moving along with the Swift series, having optimization and having the app rendering properly. We went with coding in Objective-C. As far as the performance of the app went, it was sluggish. The technical aspects were on-point as far as the movements through the app, but as far as performing with any other company, it wasn't satisfactory on my behalf.

How did Konstant Infosolutions perform from a project management standpoint?

Their staff was good. They had some good people working over there. The experience didn't meet my expectations, though. We discussed different ways to increase the speed of the mobile application. They were given 2 weeks to do so, and they really didn't. We came up, and it was still the same speed. No resolution was found, so in the midst of switching companies, I wanted to leave an honest review for them.

Are there any areas Konstant Infosolutions could improve?

Listening to the consumer and living up to their promised expectations and contracts within. Communication was on point, they just have to get their development up to what they're promising. If they would've provided me with what I wanted, I would have still been with them.

There was a distinctive fail to recognize the importance of startups. Rather than focusing on helping the Fortune 500 companies that you work with, to grow a company from an idea into something is way more reputable for companies nowadays. A lot of mobile apps are taking that direction.

In the end, Konstant's CEO kept my source code and $30,000. I would like to warn startup clients away from Konstant.

What tips or recommendations could you share that might increase the likelihood of success with Konstant Infosolutions?

Take a look at their current projects, don't go off their word, and compare it to what you would like to see, instead of grabbing somebody else's project and trying to tell them that's what you want.

People are in this business to compete and give customers the greatest experience. If that's not upheld, you're going to lose $30,000 like I did, and end up having someone rebuild your project from the start. There was a lot of wasted time (a year and a half), so it's not fun, especially for someone who is a dreamer, like me. I work a 9 to 5 schedule; I'm a firefighter running into burning buildings, so to pass my money up and not get what I expected is a little bit deterring.
