What was the scope of their involvement?

FBA Brigade provides PPC account and brand management services for me. The team manages our SEO and Amazon PPC campaigns, including budget and sales deals. FBA Brigade runs campaigns based on keyword research and cost per thousand impressions (CPM). The team has also made campaigns targeting other brands and their related images. FBA Brigade works mainly on Amazon campaigns.

What is the team composition?

We work with three teammates from FBA Brigade. The Amazon account manager handles listing optimization, including images, titles, and descriptions. The PPC manager manages our ads cost and tries to maintain a low cost. The brand manager looks for the best deals and sales, decides the best dates to launch sales, manages inventory and stock, and decides when to order more.

How did you come to work with FBA Brigade?

FBA Brigade was referred by a friend who previously used their services. My friend showed me how their services improved his brand and PPC campaigns, so I decided to go with them. I also looked at the team's website and saw their portfolio, which looked interesting.

After hiring FBA Brigade, our advertising cost of sales (ACOS) has gone from 40% to 20%, improving our overall annual turnover.

How did FBA Brigade perform from a project management standpoint?

FBA Brigade's communication is excellent and is a big reason for continuing to work with them. The team is always available and responsive, and there are no delays in their responses. We have channels on Skype and Slack; if I need something urgent, I can contact FBA Brigade. The team is always on time, and if one teammate isn't available, another person is ready to answer. We don’t lose track of things, and the team is always on top of the deadlines.

FBA Brigade uses monday.com for project management, and I can add details on the platform. The team has different platforms to manage tasks, and every little detail is on there. FBA Brigade delivers work on time and even before the deadline.

If you want to grow on Amazon and PPC campaigns, you should definitely go with FBA Brigade. The team provides services to every department related to Amazon, including account management, SEO, title optimization, and brand management. The team has a person for each domain, so I recommend them if you want to strengthen your brand.

I'm the assistant manager of supply chain and special projects for an Amazon operations management company. When we started working with the FBA Brigade, we had a different company name. Then, that company merged with another and formed what is now our current company.

What challenge were you trying to address with FBA Brigade?

My branch within the company required market expansion services, so we hired FBA Brigade. Although we were already doing business in the US and the UK, we were facing compliance issues in Europe that caused our listings not to be active. For example, we had some baby products but were unable to comply with Europian standards to get the required certification of those products.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

FBA Brigade was responsible for improving our product listings. The team helped us deal directly with our suppliers and get all the European certifications from them so that we could sell our baby products. Moreover, they hired people in China to get product reviews and also to obtain certifications in China so that our listings were activated.

Initially, we provided FBA Brigade with our supplier information and our US listings. We wanted them to get all the information because those listings were already active in the US, so they needed to get those activated for Europe. Therefore, the team took all the information from the US listings and developed the necessary documentation to get the European listings as well.

FBA Brigade was also in charge of all the SEO involved, including keyword research in German and French. Once they set up everything for us to sell our products in Europe, our only job was to bring the products over from China.

Initially, we were in contact with two teammates from FBA Brigade. However, when the certifications were achieved, we were in contact with up to four teammates.

How did you come to work with FBA Brigade?

When we decided on this project, we were unable to find any companies that could help us out. We contacted a few companies, but they seemed unreliable or very unprofessional. Then, we went to Upwork and launched an RFP. We started receiving bids, and we interviewed a few companies.

Ultimately, we proceeded with FBA Brigade because they had the knowledge base and had done these kinds of projects for other clients. They also told us to pay them once the project was completed, so we weren't at risk at all.

How much have you invested with them?

We paid FBA Brigade $80 per SKU. However, given that around 20 products were related to babies and needed additional certifications, they charged us $120 per each of those special SKUs.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together on this project from December 2022–January 2023. The project lasted around two months. We were supposed to do this project in one month, but it got extended due to the certification issues that we were facing in China. The certification team had to visit the factory and do some tests in order to get the children's product certification.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our project was very successful. FBA Brigade selected 34 of our brands and helped us launch 90 SKUs for those brands in Europe. Out of those 90 SKUs, 70 were completed in one month. The remaining 20 SKUs were a bit delayed due to the mentioned certification issues. However, those issues were completely understandable. Overall, they didn't disappoint in a single SKU.

How did FBA Brigade perform from a project management standpoint?

FBA Brigade was very professional throughout, especially when facing any challenges. When they found the certification issue, they communicated with us on time so that we would recognize it. Still, they sorted those problems out. Overall, our communication was very clear, and they were friendly with us when we talked via email.

Initially, the budget was a constraint for us because we weren't willing to pay a high amount for this project. FBA Brigade was very cost-efficient, and they were the cheapest out of the companies we vetted.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Communication was what mattered the most to us because we wanted to know what was going on at all times. FBA Brigade was great in that regard.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Talking about this specific project, FBA Brigade was very professional, so they didn't need any improvement. Still, we haven't worked with them on any other task, so I can't tell if they need to improve on other areas.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Do what we did: Interview them well so that they can get an idea of how you need them to perform the specific task at hand. FBA Brigade is very professional, so simply discuss your needs with them and be very open about them. Moreover, provide them with all the information they request on time, and they'll do a pretty good job.

What challenge were you trying to address with FBA Brigade?

When we hired them, we had a team of four people sitting in Germany. We operated and consolidated German brands, and the COVID-19 pandemic made it hard for businesses to maintain profitability and the company’s goals. Last year, we wanted to maximize cost efficiency on a high level.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We hired FBA Brigade to do a micro-level deep dive into all operational processes and let us know what costs, leveraging, and optimization we should pursue. We involved them in supply management, optimization, and warehousing. They passed on some suggestions, and then we implemented them for our benefit.

I vividly remember three projects with them. We first gave them a project for sourcing. The project scope was to help execute the spend market analysis, which is an analysis that we do to understand what the market offers versus the trends of the expenses and how we can minimize them. FBA Brigade did this project.

The second project was global shipping because we were using many long-term contracts. We hired FBA Brigade to understand the bidding market process, the market average values, and the potential to include more shipping categories.

The last one was on the warehousing side. We took on the FBA Brigade’s expertise because we mostly cared for the German part. They took the expertise on the US part, which was an ideal way to consolidate the warehouses and optimize the last-mile shipping cost.

If I recall the steps, the process was easy and really structured. First, we communicated with FBA Brigade. In the first or second round of meetings, they returned to write down the impact we needed in a structured way. Then, they translated it into objectives and keywords.  In the third step, they aligned everything together and devised a strategy with the key steps for the execution. It made sense, so we got the approval, and they started working.

We worked with Usman (Supply Chain Management & Logistics Optimization Expert) and another teammate. FBA Brigade had a big team, but they were the faces of the project.

How did you come to work with FBA Brigade?

I knew the other teammate because I worked with him back in the day. Later on, he built his own company.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with FBA Brigade for a whole year. We started in November 2022, and the project lasted until October 2023. In November 2023, we focused more on execution, so we didn’t continue with them. Last quarter, we didn't need their services, but we still kept them on our list to start execution back in Q1.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We gave FBA Brigade an objective, and they translated it into high-level research and an execution strategy. At the end of any given quarter, we compared the results. For example, in January, we would tell them to reduce 3% of our cost of goods for kitchen and home appliances by the end of March. If we told them to reduce costs by 5%, sometimes they came over with more than 10%. We’d give them the assignment, and then they’d get back to the key of the business and give us a timeline.

The deviation of time couldn’t be more than 10%. If they told us it’d take three months, they could take 10–15 days more, but any major disruption should be communicated earlier. We discussed the timelines and usually did quarterly targets because that’s how we did it on a company-level strategy. We dropped down these targets at a quarter level, and the quarter level dropped down into an execution strategy.

How did FBA Brigade perform from a project management standpoint?

We used human communication channels. Generally, we clearly mention how we’ll communicate when we have a contract with someone. In this case, we used Google Meet, invited them to our Slack, and used the combined Slack for updates. FBA Brigade was responsible for answering back on these channels.

Moreover, they were responsive. Sometimes, there were vacation issues because some days were holidays in Pakistan, not in Germany. We mutually agreed to answer when and how it was needed.

We didn’t put in a clause to have them work on German time because we mainly needed to finish the work. It was more about giving them an assignment than strictly communicating their availability. We at least wanted them to be available from 9:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. German time so they could answer our queries, but they didn’t have to be available 24/7.

We also used to get their responses on our off days, which was a good thing. If we were missing something critical because we were on a holiday, we still needed to know, so we communicated with them. We’ve worked with many agencies that tend to relax if they know the US or German times are on vacation.

Additionally, we had kickoff meetings and remained in touch each week.

What did you find most impressive about them?

What I admired the most was their experience in the e-commerce industry and their personal context. FBA Brigade was super great in terms of flexibility and resilience. Considering what’s happening in the Swiss Canal and the Red Sea, FBA Brigade provided us with the fastest response and easiest win.

Another thing I wanted to highlight about them was their excellent market understanding, especially about e-commerce and Amazon. They've been working for 5–6 years, so they were great at understanding what happens if the stock goes out or how to adjust the listings.

FBA Brigade also helped our marketing team. We didn’t pay anything for that; they were so nice and kept suggesting what to do. Overall, they had solid and powerful skills in e-commerce and Amazon. I’m glad to put in some good words for them because they worked hard and had excellent expertise; I trusted them on a personal level.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I communicated this to them, but they could extend their service. They had great potential and knowledge, but sometimes I felt that out of the supply chain, I needed their help in the listing part. FBA had the knowledge but had a limited number of people, so they needed help to follow up.

Sometimes they’d follow up, like put on some position on the marketing team. The marketing team would really like it, so they’d just want to talk to them. However, the resources were really scarce, so it was a balance in asking questions again because they were overloaded. They needed to work on the resource side.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

One strong suggestion is being open and transparent about communication because we struggled. Every time you try to get a new agency or partner into your system, it’s difficult for your company to set expectations and compare deliverables on a high level. We learned the hard way because our team wasn’t that transparent back in 2022 when we hired them. In a month, we realized that trusting them was exactly what we needed to do so they could deliver.

FBA Brigade built a custom inventory tracking system for our company. We first spoke with the team about our requirements for optimizations and inventory planning. Our development team provided FBA Brigade team with data since we had different data structures that we needed to explain to the team. We worked in a collaborative approach. 

FBA Brigade's developers looked into different sets of supply chain drivers, including procurement, demand planning and location, and operations that could be embedded into the tool accordingly. FBA Brigade addressed each operation of our supply chain, including omni-fulfillment processes and final returns of different brands we worked with. I managed the project from a tech perspective.

FBA Brigade developers overlooked our company's operations in the tool, and if there was a bug or breakdown, the team was responsible for that. Even before we reached out to the team, they flagged issues we needed to fix. The team had a proactive approach, and I was impressed by their work. I was satisfied with FBA Brigade's results and terrific work. The team worked efficiently and took feedback whenever a bug in the tool occurred.

Although the project was well-planned, FBA Brigade didn't deliver all tasks on time. In the middle of the project, we noticed that a chunk of data wasn't accurate and had to be replaced, which delayed the overall project. The original deployment date we had planned was also delayed.

What was the scope of their involvement?

FBA Brigade manages our Amazon services for us, including our Amazon account and supply chain operations. The team has managed to get my business into Amazon; they've created my retail store there.

The team has also created a proposal on how they can simplify our supply chain processes. Our manufacturing plant produces a lot of waste materials. Although I wasn't aware of that issue, the team has navigated through how to reuse those materials on other product lines.

I've also asked FBA Brigade if they provide retail services, which they've confirmed, so they're now helping us with the retail side of Amazon as well.

We work with around five teammates from FBA Brigade, including two supply chain managers, a sourcing expert, a person managing all the logistics and technical work, and an account manager handling our overall communication. Moreover, two others are working directly on the Amazon tasks.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Thanks to FBA Brigade, I'm doing great on Amazon. Moreover, my year-over-year (YoY) manufacturing costs have been reduced by about 65% thanks to their waste materials solutions. For example, we used a bag which we also had to manufacture and included some sort of pillow. However, their team has introduced a gel pillow that uses the same material we were wasting. Thus, we started using all the material we were wasting as a component of a new SKU, which has been a great success.

How did FBA Brigade perform from a project management standpoint?

I've provided them with raw data Excel documents and Google Sheets, and they've compiled the information really beautifully to create dashboards on PowerBI that output data that I can understand.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

FBA Brigade's supply chain consultant has helped me a lot in managing my supply chain processes and the key sourcing supply chain parts. He has created multiple Google Sheets and dashboards for me to manage all the resources, components, and raw materials — he's doing a great job.

FBA Brigade's biggest strength is their supply chain work.

Go straight into your problem, discuss it with FBA Brigade, and tell them what you want so that they can deliver results. Additionally, be aware that they'll ask a lot of questions, so don't get irritated by that. They need to ask those questions to get a better understanding of what you want.

I'm the head of operations at a foam manufacturing company located in Mauritania.

What challenge were you trying to address with FBA Brigade?

We needed support managing the relationship with our foam production supplier. We procure raw materials from around the world, including Chinese, Turkish, and European markets. Our goal was to have a tracking and forecasting system for the upcoming year so that we could place orders according to data sets. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, FBA Brigade helped us build a relationship with raw material suppliers, so we didn't have to contact new suppliers every time we needed to place an order. This process lasted for around 4–5 months and streamlined the purchase order (PO) placement process to three months. FBA Brigade conducts pipeline maintenance throughout the year, and if there is any fluctuation in demand, the team can increase the quantity from certain suppliers and get the stock earlier so we can produce more. 

FBA Brigade manages the communication with our suppliers and supports with order placements and trade. FBA Brigade has created a warehouse management system (WMS) for our company where we record the orders, the products that have been procured, and the inventory. According to that data, the system forecasts for the next month and gives us the number of raw materials that need to be procured again, and we place orders according to the obtained data. 

After some time developing the WMS system, FBA Brigade has integrated Google Sheets with multiple aspects of the supply chain, such as procurement, ordering, and production. All orders are tracked daily. 

What is the team composition?

I worked directly with FBA Brigade's operational analyst, who manages the relationship with our suppliers and the integration with the system. 

How did you come to work with FBA Brigade?

We initially contacted FBA Brigade through Upwork and ended up working remotely.

How much have you invested with them?

We spend around $2,000–$2,500 monthly on this project, around $30,000 a year.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with FBA Brigade in May 2023, and our engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our annual revenue is around $3 million–$4 million, but the procurement cost before implementing the WMS was very high; around 60%–70% of our revenue was utilized in operational and procurement costs. Our goal was to reduce this percentage, which we've done by 20%. FBA Brigade's work has been a major help to our revenue department, and profit margins have also increased. Before engaging with FBA Brigade, our process was manual and not data-driven. 

This project has also helped us explore other ventures. The WMS has streamlined our process because we previously placed orders according to what we needed at the moment. Now, we proceed with the procurement process based on data instead of requirements.

How did FBA Brigade perform from a project management standpoint?

I joined my company two years ago, and I initially had communication issues with English-speaking suppliers since we're located in a majorly French-speaking country. FBA Brigade has worked with me to improve our communication with external partners. We mainly communicate with FBA Brigade via email and WhatsApp and collaborate through Google Docs and Google Sheets.

What did you find most impressive about them?

FBA Brigade delivers on the tasks assigned to them and goes the extra mile for our company. The team delivers work in a timely manner and is on top of communication. These are the strongest points I've noticed in FBA Brigade throughout the year we've been working together. These are the reasons why our partnership is continuing. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

We're still working on integrations since we're a manufacturing company, and the process will take time. I can't think of anything for FBA Brigade to improve at this moment.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Communicate your needs thoroughly to FBA Brigade and the goals you want them to deliver. You should also communicate your timelines and expectations; communication should be your priority. Be communicative to all external partners and stakeholders to avoid misleading information. Communicate all the things you require from FBA Brigade, and the team will deliver.
