I am the CTO at nowhere Group, a business innovation company that helps businesses work more efficiently, productively, and creatively. We have a digital platform which complements our trainings and experiences that we provide for businesses which helps leaders hold more effective meetings.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with the Exyte?

We wanted to develop iOS applications for a number of different products for which we already had web-based versions.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Exyte helped us develop three iOS applications based on designs we provided them. The most challenging app was a next-generation meeting system. It is a video conferencing-type app which helps the meeting’s leader run the meeting more efficiently. The guidance the users receive comes from the practice we’ve built up over the past twenty years. Another app is a bookstore within which we provide promotional materials, administer giveaways, and sell books. The third one contains various tiers of “micro-skills” which are helpful ways to work more productively and creatively.

What is the team composition?

We worked with a variety of developers assigned to each project.

How did you come to work with the Exyte?

I found the founder of the company through an online advertisement. I began with him originally, and since have worked with several of their people.

How much have you invested with them?

About $60,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We originally began working with them sometime in 2015. They are still engaged with us on all three applications. Once the apps are launched, we plan to keep working with them indefinitely.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We have three criteria for determining quality work. The first is that the product functions perfectly. The second is that it matches the designs exactly. The third is the quality of their communication and availability. I think in all three areas they’re really good.

How did Exyte perform from a project management standpoint?

They understand specifications very well and have an acute sense of quality. They are keen to write good, working code and to implement the design perfectly.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their attention to detail. I work with a number of other companies. You don’t necessarily know that you’ll get the result you’re after. With Exyte, you give them a brief, they ask all the right questions so they understand it really well, and they get it done exactly as you want it. Also, if something doesn’t sit right, doesn’t work, or we’ve missed something, they’re part of the team, so they’ll give feedback and we’ll alter the design. So, they’re quite collaborative and they’re molding the brief at the same time as getting it done.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We’ve had some issues with language differences. Some are very strong English speakers while others are not so fluent, so that is an area that could improve.

Any advice for potential customers?

This is not about Exyte in particular, but for projects in general, it's important to focus on being collaborative and communicating well. Projects are often more successful when customers are clear about what they want and explain those things from the beginning.

What challenge were you trying to address with Exyte?

We needed help with building modules for three different prototype apps for iOS.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Exyte made an ARKit (augmented reality kit) prototype for a small iOS app. They also developed voice changing and rhythm recognition modules for two other iOS applications.

What is the team composition?

I was in contact with their CEO and CTO. The CTO acted as our project manager.

How did you come to work with Exyte?

We found them on an iOS group on Facebook, where we discussed AR issues. We saw they had experience when we watched a YouTube video where they converted Tetris into augmented reality using an ARKit.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent $18,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in July 2017 until October of the same year.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our developers evaluated the code and were highly satisfied with it. The modules were part of a big project and will be used in our final app.

How did Exyte perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicated via email and Skype. They met all deadlines and were very responsive.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have an innovative approach and develop their own open-source UI framework, which is very impressive. They’re also driven to use the most recent tools, libraries, and technologies on the market.

Are there any areas they could improve?

None that I can think of.

I don't have any.

I am the managing director of an IT consulting company offering mobile device management solutions.

What challenge were you trying to address with Exyte?

We were looking for a development company, so we hired Exyte. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We met with Exyte a few times to give them an idea of what we were looking for and provided mock-ups to start. Exyte has been in charge of choosing languages and creating the database. Key technologies include TypeScript and Swift for Apple devices. We also use PostgreSQL and Docker. 

What is the team composition?

We work with less than 10 people; however, we primarily work with a project manager. 

How did you come to work with Exyte?

Exyte was a referral. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around $100,000 USD. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in January 2023, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We wouldn’t be in the position we are today without Exyte. We’ll continue to work with them because we’ve been satisfied with their work. 

How did Exyte perform from a project management standpoint?

For the most part, Exyte has delivered on time.

We’d like to shout out Yuri (CTO). 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have provided us with extensive experience in developing product software and have helped us organize everything to be more efficient and effective. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

They are not administrators; we wish they could better research the market and analyze other possible solutions.

Be clear about what you want to achieve, and be prepared with your communication and documentation. It’s important to remember that you must also work on your end.
