BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm the director of an e-commerce site specializing in mobility products for children with special needs. We sell a lot of adaptive bikes, standers, walkers, seats, bathroom equipment, and other items.
Apart from selling directly to customers, schools, organizations, and charities, we also have a crowdfunding app on the site so people can crowdfund the items they need to acquire from us.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with eQuest Solutions?
We had a site on Magento with a free plan, which was running out a few years ago. I wanted to migrate our site out of Magento because of its security issues and how expensive development was on it, and I really liked Shopify for its simplicity.
However, with the simplicity came the challenges of us trying to force it to do a lot of things that it can't do natively. We needed someone to help us do the migration properly.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
eQuest Solutions was in charge of doing the full migration and implementing the redesign of the site, as well as adding a ton of new features to it — they did an entire overhaul.
Emily, our own graphic designer, worked on the redesign of the site. At first, we started working with a Shopify theme that was as close as what we wanted. Emily did the designs using that theme, and eQuest Solutions got everything working.
Then, they added new features to the site like the crowdfunding app, a new checkout page, a new quoting page, and a lot of custom forms. eQuest Solutions also added a lot of custom functionality to the backend to allow us to have more control over our products.
What is the team composition?
My main points of contact were Parth (Founder & CEO) and another person. I know that they had more people working on the project, as well.
How did you come to work with eQuest Solutions?
Emily, who had worked with Parth, recommended eQuest Solutions. She said she could design the site, get it looking flawless, and then we could bring in eQuest and get it all working. Emily brought them to the table.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent close to $75,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in January 2019, and the project was finished in July 2019. They still do some maintenance work occasionally.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We had a basic version of the crowdfunding app on our old website. In the new one, we tripled the requests, especially during COVID-19. Our regular sales also increased by 25%.
Our products are very complicated — they’re not what most e-commerce sites sell. We have a lot of configuration choices and information in every product, and eQuest Solutions made it easy on the backend to update things and add different elements to them.
It was a very complicated project to make all that work together in Shopify, which can be a bit limiting, but they made it work.
How did eQuest Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?
Their project management was great. As I’m a busy business owner, I don’t always have time to spend on chat apps or looking at pending tasks, and they were willing to adapt to whatever worked for me.
They used Asana, and I could see the tasks the team members were working on at all times.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I've worked with a lot of developers and I found it impressive that eQuest Solutions really listened and took the time to understand what I wanted. They were really great at fixing things, and they were very creative at problem-solving. Their prices were really reasonable, too.
A lot of developers, after they finish the project, make it really hard to get things fixed or worked on. eQuest Solutions always solved problems immediately, and responded personally — they're the best I've worked with.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There were some small things that I wish would have been tested more before eQuest Solutions told me they were done, but they would get them immediately fixed. Other than that, I don’t have anything to say. We really found a great team with them.

Be really clear with what you want, and try to approach them with the designs ready.

I started working with Equest on small projects on a one time basis, and a month in I decided to explore any opportunities where I could buy a certain amount of hours, in my case I bought 100 hours every month from a project manager taking care of developers, so I had a team of developers helping me with multiple clients, this was specialized in Wordress, but also Squarespace and custom websites.
Then I also worked with a team for Shopify, taking care of one single Shopify client of mine, Ecommerce, where we grew the clients company sales by 30% under 6 months. Coding, requests, revisions, customizing themes, it's been a variety of work.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
30-40% global sales increase on one of my ecommerce clients, with new campaigns and offers and designs we've done, their conversion rate has increased by over 30%. All my wordpress clients I've worked on with Equest Solutions have been very happy with the outcomes and all their revisions have been done correctly. Sometimes we had easy revisions, sometimes we had strange requests, but Equest still managed to take care of it!
