Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm a co-founder and the CEO of Llama Naturals, a plant-based nutrition brand for the whole family.

For what projects/services did your company hire The Email Marketers, and what were your goals?

We hired The Email Marketers initially in the summer of 2020 to set up our initial email flows for our brand. The goal was to roll out our branding and experience into automated flows to improve the customer journey, increase the number of touch points, improve LTV, reorders, etc.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I had initially set up some basic flows myself but failed to match our high level brand & design experience that our brand had elsewhere. I was introduced to Melanie and her team and realized that they could execute on the brand, flows, and do it at a reasonable price.

They really took the time to understand our brand, design, products, and overall marketing goals. Then, they put together a strategy outline of our email flows. Then they put together copy, design, and then finally uploaded everything into Klaviyo. It was very collaborate and thorough.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We worked with Melanie (CEO), and an account manager mostly. I believe they also had a design, technical professional, and possibly a copy writer as well, but I didn't often work directly with them.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The results were fantastic, both from a branding / design / copy / experience perspective, and also from a revenue perspective. Great ROI from the initial flows. We have since hired them to enhance our flows, update the flows with new images & packaging designs, and also manage our monthly email campaigns & SMS. They are very proactive and always looking to go the extra mile to make sure we're happy. I

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Very effective. We've done most of our work through slack which has been very collaborative.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They've really executed on our brand and design and have helped us take it to another level. Ultimately anyone can set up campaigns or flows in Klaviyo, but they're able to put together advanced flows with great design, copy, and tie it into our high-level marketing initiatives.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

With anything technical there can sometimes be some bugs in Klaviyo, but they are very quick and proactive to fix issues. I really have no complaints.

I’m the chief revenue officer at Adelante Shoe Co., a startup that sells ethical fashion. 

We sell high-end handcrafted shoes made in Guatemala. Our products are made to order based on our customer’s measurements, and we ship them right to their door.

What challenge were you trying to address with The Email Marketers?

We were focused on growing our unpaid marketing channels in order to reduce reliance on paid search and paid social. We really needed someone with solid strategic and creative email marketing capabilities.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The Email Marketers works on our email marketing campaigns from ideation all the way through to implementation. In terms of the content, they handle copywriting and design.

Each month, the team creates a marketing calendar to ensure we are providing engaging content to our list.  The copywriting team then writes the emails while the design team creates relevant visuals. They segment every send to optimize performance and conduct A/B testing for continuous learning. 

After we approve both the written and visual content, they start implementing the email campaign.

Currently, The Email Marketers is helping us rework our entire post-purchase flow. We’re collaborating closely with them on this process.

What is the team composition?

We work with a dedicated account manager, a copywriter, a designer and others working in the background. 

Additionally, Melanie (Owner) checks in and is clearly engaged, and on top of, our projects.

How did you come to work with The Email Marketers?

Someone recommended them to us. We decided they would be the best fit because Melanie seemed very thoughtful and strategic. She was able to prove that the team had an in-depth understanding of email marketing.

We also reached out to some of their references and received some really glowing feedback.

We’ve spent $25,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project started in June 2021, and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The Email Marketers is a highly creative team — their campaign ideas are incredibly clever, and their copywriting and design work are both exceptional.

Since we started working with them, we’ve seen a 70%–75% jump in revenue generated from our email campaigns, which is more than we had expected. Furthermore, our open rate is consistently around 30%–35%.

We’ve actually just sent out an email that very quickly generated the highest revenue we’ve ever seen.

Prior to working with The Email Marketers, our email campaigns performed inconsistently. Working with this team has generated consistent increase in revenue and performance against key metrics.

How did The Email Marketers perform from a project management standpoint?

The Email Marketers is very organized and buttoned up. We have a planning calendar using Google Sheets, and it’s easy to understand.

The team is incredibly responsive and available, and it honestly feels like they’re a part of our team. We can message them on Slack at any time of day. They also provide weekly performance updates and constantly let us know what they’re working on.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their creativity is outstanding — they produce well-thought-out ideas and beautiful design work. Beyond that, the team is also keen to work with us towards our goals. Overall, The Email Marketers offers a great combination of expertise and dedication.

We appreciate how they treat our brand like it’s their own — they’ve truly taken the time to understand us and our objectives. The Email Marketers have become integral members of our team rather than a vendor.

It’s also nice that the owner is involved in the project and talks to us about our business challenges.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I honestly can’t think of anything they could do differently — we’re over the moon with their work. The Email Marketers is an incredibly efficient, responsive, and passionate team.

Hire The Email Marketers, and think of them as a member of your team rather than an agency!

I’m the marketing director for White Leaf Provisions. We’re a growing biodynamic family food brand, that’s focused on making general farm foods widely accessible in the US.

What challenge were you trying to address with The Email Marketers?

We needed to bring an agile email marketing team on board to improve our e-commerce sales.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We used their services of The Email Marketers to help educate customers about the benefits of our products. They handled everything, from the copy and design to the implementation and flow of the segments of each email.

We first gave them as much information on the different principles of regenerative farming as possible, because this topic can be quite esoteric. They designed the email template, which they’ve been so kind to let us use for our website — they sent us the AI files along with the messaging, copy, and layout so our customers could learn more about our company.

What is the team composition?

I worked with Melanie (CEO & Founder) and a graphic designer. Melanie was quite prominent and was a big part of the process — it felt like they were an extension of our team.

The founder of our company came across The Email Marketers through Upwork. She brought them on because of their experience in the food industry and their work with big brands.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from January–November 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Even though retail grocery shopping has opened again, our e-commerce business has doubled and grown to 200% in the past year. I believe it’s the result of bringing professionals to prioritize our email marketing efforts and revamping how we present ourselves to our customers.

How did The Email Marketers perform from a project management standpoint?

They worked with us through Google Docs, which was perfect because that’s what we use internally. They would send us a document with all the copy they wrote and once we’ve approved it, they would send it to the designer who would do the layout.

The layout would then be sent to our email, so we can see the full picture of the experience of the consumer. After that, we would go through 2–3 rounds of wording revisions before going live.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We were very impressed with their professionalism, quality of work, and how quick they were in producing content. We really felt like they really cared about our brand.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything they could improve on, but I wish we were still working together on an ongoing basis.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

The Email Marketers are very mission-driven so during your initial call, make sure your passion and vision come through because that’ll inspire them to work with you and do their best. I felt like they really believed in what we were doing, and that’s why I think the partnership has been so successful.

They were recommended to us and based of the projects they had completed in the past, we decided to work with them.

First, they wanted to know and understand as much as possible about our brand and our customers. Then they came up with a plan and how they'd help us completing it. Last phase was the execution of the plan.

We worked with the CEO and one account manager.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We had high open rates (don't remember the exact nr.s). They also analyzed the click through rates with us and offered us follow up campaigns.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Very effective. They would get back to our emails immediately and hopped on calls whenever we had something important to discuss.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They would go over and beyond to make sure we achieved our goals. Sometimes they would even support us with tasks outside of the agreement we had.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I can't think of anything right now.
