I’m the founder and CEO of a substance abuse outpatient care provider located in San Marcos, California.

What challenge were you trying to address with Dreamscape Marketing?

We are working with Dreamscape to optimize our new firm’s digital footprint through our website and through digital marketing strategies covering SEO and PPC.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Dreamscape initially did our branding and logo. They are currently helping me design our physical marketing collaterals in line with our brand and message. 

They developed our website from scratch and used their own custom templates, which was a very time-intensive and highly iterative process. I asked the team to tailor our website functionalities according to what I’ve seen other websites can do. 

In conjunction with that, we’ve now commenced our digital marketing strategies that have a lot of sub-tasks falling within it. The biggest thing for me was making our website a cross between user-friendly and intuitive because introducing optimization could take away from the simplistic content. Together, we’re working on keeping the look and feel of the website while being very strategic about the number of pages, mapping, and keywords.

When we’re finished with scripts, we intend to commence PPC and social media marketing.

What is the team composition?

There were around 10 people who touched on the project but five were involved with the heavy lifting. I know the CEO but Alison (Account Manager) is the one I interface with most days.

How did you come to work with Dreamscape Marketing?

I met the CEO of Dreamscape at an event a couple of years ago and was impressed by his sales pitch. 

The more I got to know him and his organization, the more confident I felt that his team had the expertise for our specific space, which is in substance use disorder treatment. They didn’t have to figure things out because they already had the intel and know-how for our model and type of domain.

I interviewed them along with other firms and realized that they had the most sensible solution to offer. Deciding to work with Dreamscape has been a good decision thus far.

How much have you invested with them?

So far, we’ve spent around $20,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started the ongoing work around July 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I have received very positive comments from people I’ve shared the site with. We’ve just finished the design and the launching but will soon also have the statistics for the efficacy of the website. We’ll have a sense of how the marketing campaigns are working and what our numbers and conversions look like.

How did Dreamscape Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?

They have their own internal approach and seem highly siloed. Alison is super responsive and organized, and I could communicate my needs to her, whether it was for the logo, content, dysfunctional links, or optimizing the site for mobile. She would then loop in the necessary team, which feels pretty seamless. 

I sometimes like going directly to the person that does the work, but I understand that this could introduce lots of inefficiencies and make it harder for them to stay organized. I think they did a fairly good job of having Alison take the lead. She would also be quite communicative as she brought in the resources I needed. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their expertise, for sure, distinguishes them from other providers. Dreamscape really knows what they’re talking about. At times, when I want to do something one way, they’d be able to tell me what the trade-offs are, which is something I value. 

They also have more infrastructure and resources compared to other firms. They have a big team, which ultimately benefits us when I’m up against a deadline and pressing them. We don’t have to deal with limitations on personnel. 

My other biggest impression of Dreamscape is that they are committed to the outcome. The team likes making their clients happy, especially with something as subjective as design, messaging, and content creation. I’m extremely nitpicky and demanding in terms of the written content, so they look into that seriously. They’ve adapted and modified their approach, going back and forth with me until I was happy with the content. 

Dreamscape is very willing to see the work through even though, for the website, we’re paying them a flat fee. Other organizations might be reticent to keep allocating time and resources past the point of delivering something. In my case, however, I feel that the Dreamscape team stuck with me until I felt good and proud about the end result.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Every organization can improve on something, either becoming more efficient and anticipating needs better. However, this is just an overarching philosophy in business that everyone can constantly improve. I have nothing critical to say about them.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be highly targeted and detail-oriented with the deliverables. Ask Dreamscape lots of questions upfront to make sure that you and the team members are aligned with what you deem successful. Define all your goals preemptively, and maybe do bite-sized work in the beginning so that you get what you’re looking for.

This is generic advice, but given the highly customized and highly subjective work that the team does, it is a good strategy to maximize efficiency and ensure that you guys are on the same page.

Our business is much more efficient and so far, it has gone brilliantly. Dreamscape created much more free time for me to spend with my family without sacrificing any profits. I am not skilled in the newest technologies, so it's great working with a young team in-tune with the latest tech.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Our workflow is great. They are available about 70 hours a week for any immediate assistance and are a pleasure to work with.

I’m the Owner and Director of a residential treatment center for those suffering from substance use disorder. We do both inpatient residential care as well as outpatient treatment.

What challenge were you trying to address with Dreamscape Marketing?

As an independent operator, one of the challenges we have is getting the word out to let people know we’re available for the services they need. When people are looking for treatment, the first thing they do is search online. They generally choose whatever service they find on the first page of their search results. We’re not a large corporation with unlimited resources at our disposal. But we needed to be on the first page in order to be found and be known.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Dreamscapes started by revitalizing our website. They changed the branding and format and optimized for SEO. Since then, they’ve managed SEO for us. They continue to tweak things on a regular basis. For example, we reach out to new markets in other cities nearby.

We're currently looking to double our capacity by purchasing another facility. We're formulating strategies and plans with Dreamscape for the future expansion in order to continue the momentum.

What is the team composition?

I communicate primarily with our project manager as well as their CEO.

How did you come to work with Dreamscape Marketing?

I ran into them at a conference. I used to be a hospital administrator for a large corporation that runs psychiatric hospitals so I keep in touch with the industry by attending events. I met the CEO and a couple of others from their team. I asked around and they had good references.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working with them for three years now and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Within a few months after we started working with them, we were consistently on the first page. We track our metrics daily and calls generated from the website go through a separate toll-free number so we know the impacts of our SEO. More than 60% of our total calls are generated from the website. That’s up from 1% before we started working with Dreamscape. We’re now recognized for 140 keywords when you search in this area. In practical terms, that means we’ve doubled our client to bed capacity ratio, which is up from six clients per day to 12.

How did Dreamscape Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?

I feel like I have access to everybody. I have a project manager at my disposal that I touch base with about once a week. I can also call the CEO and discuss ideas whenever I’d like. They’ll immediately put a team together to respond to the request.

During the course of our relationship with Dreamscape, we've had three or four project managers. All but one has been good, and with that one it was more about personalities than quality. The one we have right now is excellent.

The CEO told me early on that his model is to overpromise and overdeliver. They’re true to that. There’s been only one hiccup in over three years. He shoots for the moon and gets beyond that.

What did you find most impressive about them?

At the end of the day, it's about results. We get quality and responsiveness. They’re still small enough that I can call the CEO and get a call back from him. They move quickly to respond to our needs. And we get results.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’ve only had one site visit from them in the three years we’ve been working together. There’s another one scheduled: the project manager is coming out next month. I understand it’s expensive to travel to and from the East Coast where they’re based but I feel like it’s important for them to know my facility, talk to my staff and me, and see my clients to really understand us.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Communicate. Part of what has made our partnership work is that we communicate a lot. I’m very hands-on. If I wasn’t communicating regularly, we wouldn’t get the results we want.

I am the CEO of Sunstone Recovery, which offers intensive outpatient individual, family, and group counseling for adults who are recovering from addictions.
