A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the business owner of Contrast Media Agency. We’re an organization that offers products and services to clients who attend trade shows or use digital media.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Credencys Solutions Inc.?
We’ve hired them for numerous web and mobile development projects. Some projects have distinct deliverables, others are for service or maintenance, and others are more ad hoc and exploratory. I’m in a competitive situation, and I must competitively bid a lot of my projects, and Credencys Solutions Inc. won out.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Credencys Solutions Inc. has developed a wide variety of projects for us as we work to provide media for different organizations.
The first project we worked on with Credencys Solutions Inc. is D.A.R.E. America, a drug awareness program that services one million students. They have transitioned D.A.R.E. America from a paper-based program to a web application written in PHP. The entire suite of 10 classes is given from a website where students use logins and record their own answers.
Credencys Solutions Inc. has overhauled these systems and is maintaining them. They’re also doing all the diagnostics and analytics on student attendance. Whenever we need to change a user interface or develop a certain part of the program, they will do it for us. We’re also looking at expanding this to a junior high school and a high school module. They have used a variety of tools and development toolkits in this project. They’ve made some recommendations to make the data flow a lot thinner and customize the app to account for different school infrastructures.
They also do all my interactive media. They put together a complete self-navigating interactive multimedia presentation for a fire prevention company where all 150 of the client’s products are categorized and cataloged. People go up to it at trade shows and access the information interactively. They also worked on another ambitious multimedia interactive program with an aerospace company that had around 10,000 US patents. They created a system where any time one of the patents came up, it lit up a crystal on the screen.
We’re working on another project with a fire suppression company where Credencys Solutions Inc. has developed a revolutionary iPad app that allows field technicians to avoid physically walking around and using blueprints to calculate the cost. Now, the app allows users to drag and drop symbols on a blueprint. The app works for the full layout of the job across multiple floors, showing cost and hardware along the way that results in a complete quote; it also accounts for all regulations and specifications. The client can then access this quote immediately. This app has been described as revolutionary in that industry.
What is the team composition?
By my count, Credencys Solutions Inc. has around 160 developers who work with databases, cloud computing, iOS, and Android.
How did you come to work with Credencys Solutions Inc.?
We already had a small history doing some mobile augmented reality apps together. We were struggling with the D.A.R.E. project, and, upon talking to Sandeep (CEO, Credencys Solutions Inc.) and his team, they convinced us they had the technical depths and aptitude to take on the program. That was 3–4 years ago. They initially went in to rebuild the entire thing, and they’ve done a number of enhancements since.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested around $500,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with Credencys Solutions Inc. in 2014. We have several ongoing projects.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The products made by Credencys Solutions Inc. have worked as designed according to our customers' own tracking. Our complex fire suppression calculation project will launch shortly. In general, we don’t get many calls reporting bugs or problems. Our clients have an option to be in a maintenance program with them. I have big plans for Credencys Solutions Inc., and I don’t even plan on looking at other partners. I don’t really look at them as a supplier; they’re more of a partner.
As far as I’m concerned, Credencys Solutions Inc. is a great organization. They have a lot of internal processes that I’ve come to appreciate. We do spin cycles, and they spin out capabilities. My clients have really come to appreciate that.
How did Credencys Solutions Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?
Even though they’re offshore, I haven’t had a problem reaching them by phone or arranging meetings outside of business hours, either very early in the morning or late at night. I choose to have my projects managed directly with the team in India.
They do have a number of US-based representatives, but I prefer to project manage directly with the developers, instead of going through a liaison. We have a good cadence, and I have a good rapport with the two owners. Credencys Solutions Inc. does have people with the right technical background available to work with other clients during their business hours.
What did you find most impressive about them?
With other providers, I’ve come across fly-by-night people who give wonderful prices, but lack necessary communication skills. In Credencys Solutions Inc.’s case, whenever we came upon a problem or found a bug, they started their own process for taking care of these things. I never had to chase them down for anything.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Not much, the only thing I would appreciate having is a Credencys Solutions Inc. person in my facility to help me manage my projects.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
It’s important to be well-documented. People who manage the project over the phone might get themselves in trouble.
If the client is going to use them in a way they’re not really geared for, they might be disappointed. If Credencys Solutions Inc. is given something that caters to its core competency, clients are going to be very impressed by their work.
