I am a Software Engineering Manager that owns our Shopify Solution here at Glowforge. We sell a 3D Laser Printer as well as materials and digital designs.

For what projects/services did your company hire Craft Berry, and what were your goals?

Resources are limited and we were in desperate need to improve our Shop. It was 3 years old and built on a less then idea Theme. We had since done a re-branding of our primary marketing site and our Store had not caught up. We also wanted to unlock some of the Template flexibility that came with theme 2.0.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

For a separate company project we had a contractor that was very familiar with e-commerce. They recommended several firms, and I did interviews with several. We landed on Craftberry because their communication skills and general interest in the project was clearly beyond any of the other firms.

We managed the project in Asana. The work was Liquid in Shopify. They did the code changes using Bitbucket and ThemeKit.

3 primary people: 1 Project Management Person, 1 Front End Developer, and the owner of the company was also very hands on.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Our site has a polish it had never had before. It is fast and efficient. We have customization tools that we did not have before.

They had amazing communication. We had weekly syncs and used Asana to discuss specific tasks. They Project Manager would also provide summaries of our weekly syncs in Slack as well as any updates throughout the week. Even with only 2ish hours of overlap in work day due to time change they were able to keep us informed and not wondering what was going on.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They polish of their UI work was very impressive (things looked very close to the designs we gave them right out the gate) as well as their communication as discussed above.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I think they were not used to working with such a technical company. We have our code it bitbucket and have a pretty thorough Code Review process. This threw them off a few times and added more process than they expected.

They had great reviews, but also had great taste. Our brand puts visuals and design at the very top of importance, and Craft Berry were one of the few that could offer that level of taste and wow that we need in a site moving forward.

We recently launched a new website with our big rebrand, but the previous team were slow to respond, and seemed to not be quite on the ball enough as small issues and problems kept arising.

Craft Berry to the rescue! They solved issues in the blink of an eye and prevented future ones by spotting issues in the coding that our previous team had missed. This is an ongoing relationship, and we very much look forward to working with Craft Berry when it comes to expanding our site as we launch more products, go more green, and bring out an apparel line.

I have close contact with Preslav and Bobby, both of whom respond straight away, especially is there is a serious issue.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Issues from the previous team caused the site to complete mess up - this happened in the middle of one of our biggest sales days on a Saturday before Christmas. One email to Craft Berry and it was fixed within an hour. As a business owner you can't ask for better support than that.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Perfect, we use Asana to process requests/tweaks/ideas - chat pretty much on a daily basis.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their taste levels - they really have a great eye for design. Out of all the back-end developers we've worked with, they seem to be the quickest and most experienced. Often flagging issues as they find them.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Not yet - excited to get working on the bigger rebrand of the site in 2022 so I can really see what they are capable of creatively.

Our Shopify website was created back in 2020, and while it served its purpose back then, it quickly grew to the point where we needed development support. We brought in the Craft Berry team with one simple goal in mind, build a better website by fixing issues and implementing enhancements that would drive results to achieve our e-commerce goals for the year.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

The Craft Berry team came highly recommended by a colleague of mine. After interviewing them, I decided to move forward with them based on their past development projects and proactive approach to ideating improvements to our site. I saw them as a true partner, who was just as invested in the company as I was. Their rate was also very competitive and worked well for our existing budget.

We held a kickoff meeting where I walked Preslav (Founder) through our project plans and showcased some of the issues with our current site. During the kickoff meeting, Preslav was very proactive and added a lot of value by presenting additional conversion driving ideas based on past successes.

One of the first projects was to build out a new cart experience. The goal was simple, improve conversion rates. Preslav presented some examples from his other clients. From there the new cart was wireframed and our creative team designed into that. Once we had the wireframe and design approved, we handed it back over to Preslav and team to implement. The timeline to implement was quick and we began seeing results right away!

I work primarily with Preslav (Founder) on our priority list and he leads a lot of our development efforts. I also work with one additional project manager and developer from the Craft Berry team.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

After we launched the updated cart experience, we saw results almost instantly. After some time, our overall conversion had improved 81% since this new experience was implemented.

We have a weekly touch base with Preslav and Bobby. During the meeting we review projects that are in progress and discuss future priorities. We use Asana and email to communicate and manage projects as well.

The fact that they are very proactive and present solutions that they've tested before and meet our business goal (improving conversion rate). They don't feel like an agency, but rather part of a team that is just as invested in our company's success as we are.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We had one project that had some miscommunications, which led to a slightly less than desirable experience for our customers. Preslav and team were quick to address the concern.

We’ve been working with them from the onset of our company. Our partnership started with just a simple Shopify store, and it has gone on to a whole slew of things — Craft Berry now does all of our development and helps with new initiatives.

They made our entire website, specifically working on backend custom coding. The team installed various Shopify apps and tested them with the support team, and they helped implement the design made by our creative team — basically anything related to development. They continue to provide maintenance for the site.

They help out in many different ways, like collaborating with us to develop new initiatives and providing marketing assistance. They help manage the SEO and PPC company we’re associated with by generating reports, providing analytics data, and analyzing data themselves.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The quality is excellent. They basically helped us build our business; we went from earning nothing to making over $2 million a year in revenue, which is great.

How did Craft Berry perform from a project management standpoint?

They're doing a fantastic job at communicating, but it took years to find a method that works for us regarding meetings and so on. I'm very finicky about the tools I use, so we communicate primarily over Skype. I think that they've used monday.com, Slack, and other apps, but I don’t particularly like using those. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

What's really noteworthy is the value they provide. Craft Berry doesn’t charge an arm and a leg, but they do outstanding work. The value for money is just incredible — I've worked with a lot of agencies in my day, and I’ve paid five times as much for an output that wasn’t even half as good as Craft Berry’s. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I believe that everyone can improve, so I think they can improve on everything but not in a negative way. I think they get better every day. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

They're only as communicative as they as you want them to be. You have to show initiative and reach out first, and the team will make themselves readily available. If you push harder, it will improve your experience with them.

CraftBerry worked with us on the redesign and restructuring of the AL+ Cosmetics Shopify website. The project included an initial discovery and analysis phase, website architecture planning, Shopify theme selection, visual direction, product page structure, metafield implementation, and preparation of a more scalable e-commerce setup. The main deliverables were a faster and better-structured Shopify website, improved product templates, a more flexible metafield-based content system, a cleaner brand style, improved typography and colors, and a stronger technical foundation for future development. The project gave us a much better base for presenting our products, managing content internally, and continuing to grow the brand through Shopify.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The project delivered a faster, better-structured, and more scalable Shopify website for AL+ Cosmetics. The main measurable outcomes were improved site performance, better product page architecture, implementation of metafields and reusable templates, and reduced manual work when managing product content. The new structure allows us to update and scale the website much more efficiently, while also presenting our products in a clearer and more professional way. Overall, the project created a stronger technical foundation for future growth and better long-term e-commerce management.

The project management was especially strong in the initial discovery and planning phase. The team organized the process well, held structured meetings, and helped us define the right foundation for the website. During the design and launch phases, the project became more complex and required a lot of detailed input from our side, especially around product presentation, content structure, and conversion logic. There were some moments where communication could have been more proactive, but the team remained professional and responsive when we provided feedback or requested changes. Overall, CraftBerry helped us create a stronger Shopify structure and a better long-term foundation for the brand. The project required close collaboration, but we appreciate their support, technical direction, and the final result we achieved together.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

What stood out most was their ability to create a strong technical and visual foundation for a Shopify brand. CraftBerry clearly has experience in structuring e-commerce websites in a way that is scalable and easier to manage long term. Their understanding of Shopify architecture, metafields, templates, theme selection, and overall website structure was one of the strongest parts of the project. We were also impressed by the visual direction they helped establish. The typography, colors, theme choice, and overall brand style created a much more professional and premium foundation for our website compared to our previous setup. Another strong point was the initial discovery and planning phase. The process was structured, informative, and helped us think more strategically about the website as a long-term platform for the brand, not just a redesign. Overall, their strongest quality is the ability to combine Shopify technical structure with a clean and professional brand presentation.

Are there any areas for improvement or something craftberry could have done differently?

The main areas for improvement would be deeper brand and customer behavior analysis before moving into the design phase, more proactive communication during the later stages of the project, and a more structured post-launch follow-up. Overall, the project had a strong foundation and a good final direction, but a more strategic design phase, stronger quality control, and more proactive post-launch support would have made the process even better.
