We went back and fourth in real time with the various cyber concerns that came up via Slack. This type of dynamic working relationship is a huge plus. It's great to be able to address issues in realtime. Finally the retest and report were very useful. The success of the project was marked by the certificate of completion.

I’m the CEO of a consulting software house. We operate from Nairobi, Kenya. Our focus is helping startups and small businesses build technology and solutions around communication and people. We have ten consultants.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with BetterQA?
We had a couple of projects where we needed help building technologies. In particular, we were tasked to create a solution that could act as a project or task management platform to run processes more efficiently.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Initially, BetterQA came up with an initial description, and we helped them refine it and create a specification document. Then, we went to phase two and did some screen layouts looking at existing systems. We laid out most of the screen flows of the end functionality and some possible alternatives to see where they could be integrated.
The next phase was building the rudimentary coding shell with some core functionalities. Afterward, BetterQA developed the code. The last level concerns the connectivities and APIs, which is where we are right now. The next stages will be introducing AI functionality and looking at data sets.
We’re close to completing our first project. Additionally, we’re beginning another 2–3.
What is the team composition?
We interact on a weekly basis with Camelia (Marketing Analyst) and Tudor (Managing Director). The team is consistently between 4–5 testers who test across different areas and generally give us feedback.
How did you come to work with BetterQA?
BetterQA curated a search for developers, and I responded to one of their requests. We first interacted through that, then worked on ideas and synergized together.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent between €4,000–€5,000 (approximately $4,300–$5,400 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in June 2023, and our partnership is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’ve started talking to potential partners that could help us with reselling and potential customers. We’ve done about four demos and talked to one partner. We’ll talk to another 2–3 partners next week. We’re in early discussions, so the main thing that happens at this stage is that the partners ask a few questions on how they could customize the product for their use.
However, we’re still in the development phase, so we still need to go through heavy testing and start looking at what other functionalities we can build.
How did BetterQA perform from a project management standpoint?
BetterQA looks at the processes to make everything more efficient and provide a clear window for the development team and end client. We can see what’s been tested, where it has failed, and what’s being worked on.
Moreover, there’s a lot of documentation within their structure. The communication is quite clear; they meet deadlines and work within budget. Although they’re based in Romania, we’ve been able to find a way for us to work across an expanded market.
Telegram is the most common communication channel; it provides an easy, short, and quick way to talk. We also have a Slack channel that combines the entire team, which allows easy tracking of whatever’s happening. Additionally, we use Trello to track what’s done every day and weekly calls through Google Meet for convenience purposes.
Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?
Marco (Software Tester) and another teammate have been quite helpful in testing and giving us guidelines for what we need.
Amalia has a strong background in structuring applications. She’s also a key team member when we start a project and scope it out.
Tudor has been a father figure throughout the project because he’s helped us get the project running. Even when we come through a hiccup, he’s pivotal enough to solve it.
What did you find most impressive about them?
What impresses me the most about BetterQA is their human side. Most of the testing team can work as one even when problems come up. Even if some problems aren’t technical, they come to us and ask how we can solve them. Overall, BetterQA has built our trust and respect; we know they have our back, and we have theirs.
Are there any areas they could improve?
With most new projects, we can’t scope everything when we start, so we’re bound to keep making small additions. An improvement area would be figuring out what is needed since the beginning of the process.
However, I know that might be hard because, in most cases, we can only see some sections after some things have been built.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be very open and explain what you need them to test. Also, give them access to the necessary technology to place it within the environments they need or connect it to the APIs they need to test.

Eyeware was developing multiple desktop and iOS eye-tracking applications. These applications would require careful testing and validation of the feature sets to ensure it would work as expected, but that it would also be a robust application given the large target systems. BetterQA helped by understanding the applications and their intended purpose and to ensure their reliability by doing careful testing with a wide range of permutations in terms of hardware, operating system and user behavior.
Given BetterQA got well acquianted with our software, they also provided support on creating a knowledge base which users could refer to when they would have issues with the application.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
A tangible but not measurable outcome was the test plan. Otherwise, the main measure was the speed in which we became able to close planned tickets, and to find and solve open bugs. We were using Atlassian's Jira for ticket management and the process became quite streamlined. This project became critical for us to deliver a high quality product.

At first, a project manager was involved to oversee the progress. However, the main person we were working with quickly adopted our processes and we were able to continue directly with him, and only needed a brief follow up from the manager on occasion. The deliveries were timely and what was most useful is that this person became almost a team member that was simply delivering on their responsibilities.
