We were still privately owned and we wanted to start an intranet, which we never had. We hired AllianceTek to build out a SharePoint backend for widespread company use.

What was the scope of their involvement?
I guided the business-wide SharePoint initiative internally, but each of our departments sent specific goals and requirements for features and functionality directly to the AllianceTek team. They came through every time. We're now using SharePoint as our primary backend system, allowing us to share documents and manage their accessibility.
AllianceTek has been involved in the entire development process, from discovery through post-launch maintenance. We reach out to them with requests for changes or new features or when something isn't working. They've provided a variety of services across both the design and technical components of the project.
One of the more elaborate requests they've handled for us involves the use of traffic lights in one of our manufacturing plants. The plant wanted to implement a system to analyze department-wide performance in certain areas—like material, inventory, mixing, compression, and more. AllianceTek built a traffic light system that tracked whether or not each department was on target to meet its weekly production goals. Pratik (Project Manager, AllianceTek) was highly involved in this specific initiative. He showed me how to correctly navigate and manage the traffic light system.

How did you come to work with AllianceTek?
At a previous role with a global corporation, I worked with a reputable outside vendor to implement SharePoint, and it was a terrible experience overall. Because of that, I knew exactly what I was looking for in a partner for this specific initiative.
I first found AllianceTek through LinkedIn and spoke with Darren (VP of Solutions & Design, AllianceTek). I really liked the way he spoke about their business approach. They were attentive, informative, and eager to help us understand their processes. I could tell they were genuinely interested in working with us. After AllianceTek provided some insight into their past projects, it was clear that they were a good fit.
Even after we chose to hire them, Darren continued to check in with me each week to make sure we were getting everything we needed. They're a very client-oriented agency.

Our company has since been acquired, so we've been working to keep the SharePoint project running through many internal transitions. I don't have any concrete metrics for its success, but everyone is pleased with the results.
Staff members use it for everything, from checking company announcements to paycheck processing and accessing their 401K. It’s a huge go-to place for a lot of the company.
How did AllianceTek perform from a project management standpoint?
They've been excellent. They present their plans for each project in an organized manner, and they routinely follow up with us. Their turnaround time is very good, which is super important to us.
When we were working on the main project, we met weekly to discuss requirements and progress and plan next steps. I was very happy with their approach. I believe they used project management software that allowed me to log in and view their updates, but I preferred to just speak with them during our meetings. I felt that it gave me a better understanding of the status of the project, and I could explain my requests and feedback more clearly. Now, we use the management portal to report and ticket any issues that arise.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They had an ability to do things that I don't know how to do. I've been managing websites since about 1996 and they knew exactly how to get things done, even things that were custom to our site. Most companies will just copy a template and give you a different color and a different font, but that's not what they did.
They've been supporting us and working with us since the first day the intranet was launched. Three years later they’re still working with us because they're super reliable and excellent at what they do.

We’ve gone through a joint application review session regarding what would be the best way to deliver our inventory to a global audience. AllianceTek meets and exceeds challenges related to the response time and performance of rendered information. They’ve always given quick and well-crafted answers to those production issues. Their experience is particularly helpful when trying to stream a video to thousands of people simultaneously.
Having access to a significant depth of resources enables them to accomplish complex tasks involving AWS retrieval. Other firms don’t have an in-depth grasp of the constraints we have to work within. In terms of metrics, AllianceTek is always able to meet our negotiated deadlines. We’ve never experienced a significant bug or crash.
How did AllianceTek perform from a project management standpoint?
I look for organizations that strive to understand my business challenges and constraints. Sunil does that exceptionally well. He’s always reaching out to us. We’re a small organization without an internal development team, so AllianceTek is dealing with me for 99% of the time. I can reach out to my project manager at any time, and I know I’ll get a response.
We had dialogues upfront, and they’re willing to meet with us on a regular basis. We talk about our active projects and challenges associated with them. I’ve come to view them as my IT department. They don’t have a bunch of specialists sitting idle on each assignment. I only draw from the resources I need.
We use WhatsApp as a secure communication channel. They respond to project-specific challenges as soon as they occur. Not allowing a rigid procedure to get in the way of business is what engrains AllianceTek as a true business partner.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They function almost like a department within my firm, understanding not only matters of conscientious ethic but also security. Everything they’ve done and continue to do is within a working ideology that values security. My information is protected, and that’s an important part of having a vendor partnership.
Another unique aspect about them is their consistency. The assigned business manager has remained with our organization from the onset. Many outsourcing companies will charge for nearly every interaction with them. That often diminishes their ability to understand the reasons we’re building and providing technical services. AllianceTek utilizes a better approach, and that pushes them to get things right the first time.

We had a production outage on the website a few years ago. While the experience has been mostly positive, no one is perfect. Overall, I’m quite happy with them. Any critique I have would be nitpicking.

They developed a mobile software product. We built a custom keyword that does encryption built for a secure browser with a password. They used PhoneGap, a framework that uses HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
They also helped add a password vault, which enables users to store their passwords in an encrypted database on the mobile device. You can search, recall, and launch a secure browser from within the app with the password.
They continue to add features and do bug fixes on a regular basis. We continue to add other projects for them.

The key to working successfully with them is being specific about your requirements. Break it down into as much detail as you can. We documented extremely fine details with clear, concise examples for the team to understand what we wanted to accomplish.

I'm the CTO of a company that publishes, distributes, and promotes financial education programs for American students.

What challenge were you trying to address with AllianceTek?
We initially hired AllianceTek to redesign and retool our frontend app, a stock market simulator. We later hired them to design our two mobile apps as well.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
AllianceTek designed the web app in HTML5 with a responsive design. Students can use the stock market simulator app to trade securities that are offered in the U.S. markets. Teachers can also use the app to deliver financial literacy education to their students.
After finishing the redesign of that user-facing app, AllianceTek started work on our mobile apps, which are for Android and iOS. They currently maintain those apps and implement any changes or enhancements we request.

They provide about five engineer and subcontract a UX/UI developer.
How did you come to work with AllianceTek?
We conducted a procurement exercise with an RFP, and many vendors submitted bids to elaborate on their technical and pricing offerings. We then chose three companies and invited them for interviews at our office and to discuss their work. AllianceTek seemed to be the best match, so we chose them.

We’ve spent around $150,000.

They created an entirely new design for our web app, which is much more user-friendly and intuitive. They’ve added tremendous value to our products and used state-of-the-art technology. A lot of our users are in poor school districts, so AllianceTek built the apps to meet low bandwidth and high latency requirements.

Since they have a large offshore presence, we were able to find lots of cost benefits to outsourcing. If we’d done the project domestically, the overall cost would’ve been significantly higher.

I’m an executive vice president and CFO at Sokolis Group. We’re a fuel management firm that provides consultations for companies with large fleets of vehicles. Because they typically purchase large volumes of fuel, we help them reduce and control their fuel spend.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with AllianceTek?
We used to track and analyze our clients’ fuel purchasing data through a series of Excel spreadsheets. However, these individual spreadsheets shared a lot of common features, so we decided to aggregate them into a centralized system. AllianceTek joined the project to develop this system, creating a cloud-based data analysis app.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
AllianceTek developed a cloud-based web app, using our Excel models as a guide; it’s a .NET tech stack with an underlying SQL server database. After a few months of fine-tuning, we rolled out the system and refined some of the features. Their team currently provides ongoing support and maintenance as needed.
The app’s core purpose is to consolidate our clients’ fuel purchasing data. When a client uses a fuel card system, we’re able to download their transaction history into an Excel sheet and import it directly into our system. We can then compare that data to pricing indexes from third parties, looking at fuel prices across major markets around the country to identify saving opportunities.
Because fuel prices are dynamic and change based on time and location, AllianceTek created a feature that samples prices near the client’s GPS coordinates. Before, we would manually research prices by going on Google Maps to find where a client purchased their fuel and looking up nearby discounts. The new feature has eliminated that process by doing it automatically.
What is the team composition?
We work with a project manager, who acts as our go-to for help or additional features. There are also other individuals working in the background.
How did you come to work with AllianceTek?
The owner of our company knew the owner of AllianceTek, so they discussed the project together. After a few rounds of conversation, we felt confident that AllianceTek could bring a lot to the table and get the job done.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent about $50,000 altogether. The initial investment was about $30,000, and the functionality changes and fine-tuning cost between $10,000–$20,000.

The main development lasted from June 2012–June 2014. They now provide ongoing maintenance.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Even after 4–5 years, the app is still stable and works consistently. We’re now able to load data into the system without having multiple Excel sheets floating throughout the company. This has allowed for major improvements in productivity, especially for out-of-network reporting like our GPS price comparison. What was once a manual process that required 2–3 resources for a full day is now a streamlined, automated feature. The app has saved us a considerable amount of time.
How did AllianceTek perform from a project management standpoint?
They’re great at communicating what needs to be done and provide accurate time estimates. During the development phase, we had weekly calls, so it was easy to keep up to date and review any challenges.
What did you find most impressive about them?
It can be difficult at first to work with industry-specific concepts like fuel management and purchasing, but we didn’t have any issues getting AllianceTek up to speed. They were able to understand our functionality requirements and get things done.

Make sure that your requirements are very clear and provide as many prototypes or materials as possible. For us, we had Excel sheets that demonstrated exactly what we needed the app to do, which made it easier to explain what we wanted.

This was all very difficult and custom, not to mention the deadline was only 2-months long. They helped design the framework and were very receptive to comments and critics. They made more than several changes for me.

They told me right from the beginning that if I wanted my project completed within 2 months I'd need to give them feedback daily.
Some of their workers are overseas so I was able to review during my work day and they did the work while I slept. They were also incredibly accessible even at very late-hours in emergency situations. The CEO himself answered his phone and redirected me to someone else that could help me while my primary contacts were away.
