What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Scalater Dev OÜ did a great job building the site. However, I haven't launched it yet because I need to put together a lot of other things first, so it currently reads "coming soon." The next step for us is to put this website at the right level on Google.
We'll try to develop a strategy for our marketing and music publishing leveraging this website. I'll also be developing a magazine, and we'll start with the integrations with all the artists and social media pages.
How did Scalater Dev OÜ perform from a project management standpoint?
Scalater Dev OÜ delivered work on time and on budget, and they communicated well with me. Overall, they did a great job. We communicated via emails, phone calls, and WhatsApp.
Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?
I would like to give a shout-out to both Guillermo and Amadys.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Our engagement worked well. I understood the nature of their business; it is a really busy business. Still, they adjusted to my time and always had an open calendar for me to make appointments with them. Whenever I had a question, they answered it within 24 hours, so we also had great communication.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I can't think of anything they could have improved on.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
Have a clear idea of what you really want and make a list of the features you want to include before contacting them. Although Scalated Dev OÜ can build something from scratch, having a clear idea will make their job easier and save you time getting a final product. I didn't have a clear idea, and although they delivered in a timely manner, we had a lot of back-and-forth initially. Having your idea ready will help you get their service up and running immediately.

What challenge were you trying to address with Scalater Dev OÜ?
We needed a functionality update, but our website had an old Shopify theme. We required Shopify 2.0 to use the newer features, and the previous version was preventing us from getting the apps we needed to be tax-compliant. We had custom code within our previous theme, so we had to ensure it was transferred correctly.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
We initially did a call between Guillermo, our CEO Eric, and me. We outlined our main reasons for doing the project: we had a tax-exempt app that we needed to add, so we had to update the theme. Then, we outlined for Scalater Dev OÜ our biggest concerns about the transfer. Overall, we wanted to ensure that all our existing apps worked exactly the same on the new site and that the display looked correct.
We discussed everything in the meeting, and then Guillermo returned with a quote, a time frame, and the next steps of what we needed to provide. At that point, our CEO and I put together a document. Additionally, Guillermo gave us a template, and we filled it out. In there, we went through all the types of pages that our site had and the apps that were potentially present on those pages so Scalater Dev OÜ could ensure each of them was addressed during the code transfers.
We slowly incorporated the same adjustments to the simplest pages that didn’t have much going on and left the more intensive ones, like the product pages and the checkout, towards the end. Once we got to that, we looked at finding the details that needed to be tweaked or changed, and Guillermo addressed them.
About a week ago, we did some testing to ensure the checkout, the most important part of e-commerce, was looking fine. Afterward, we made a couple of adjustments, and he was able to communicate with some of the other apps that we incorporated into the checkout to ensure they were all integrated.

Guillermo was our main point of contact. He may have had additional help from a team but I only communicated with him.
How did you come to work with Scalater Dev OÜ?
Guillermo worked on the initial build of the website back in 2021. He was contracted to do some of the custom coding, so we remained in contact and then reached out to him again to do this update.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Last week, we launched the live site. Scalater Dev OÜ was available the whole day to make adjustments. We had a couple of minor things that needed to be changed. Guillermo did them quickly, so now we have a functioning site that is fully updated and integrated with the apps we need. Overall, he ensured that everything worked properly.
There weren’t any statistics because the site is working the same as it was; there are no problems with it, which is good. We haven’t seen an interruption in our sales as a result of the theme change, which was one of our biggest concerns. We wanted to make sure that the site wasn’t down, and Scalater Dev OÜ maintained that. Moreover, the consistency and quality of their work were good. Guillermo looked for minor adjustments that our previous site didn’t have to make the display and UX components a little better.
How did Scalater Dev OÜ perform from a project management standpoint?
They delivered within the budget because we communicated it since the beginning of the project. They quoted us 4–6 weeks, but we went to 8–9 weeks, so it took a little longer than we had hoped for. They still delivered within a reasonable time frame for us.
We mainly communicated using Google Chat, Gmail, and Google Meet calls. Additionally, Guillermo used Loom to show us some videos that he screen-recorded to explain a couple of things. He was responsive when we had questions.
Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?
Working with Guillermo was great.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Scalater Dev OÜ had a history with us and was willing to work with us again, which was really helpful. They were pretty clean about all of their work. We didn’t know what the backend and code looked like, but it seemed that the transfers were mainly seamless.
Also, they made the adjustments promptly, which was important to us. There wasn’t a huge lag between when we noticed something was incorrect and when it was remedied.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Guillermo made a couple of adjustments to how our products displayed within the template that had not been communicated about prior to execution. We had him reverse some of those changes but they were a quick and easy fix.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I recommend having a progress report/check-in each week. It’s crucial to be aware of where the project is, if it running on schedule and at what stage of development the project is at. We started doing that at the midpoint because we wanted to know more about where we were in the process, which really helped.

Most project management was done in email and our internal proprietary PM tool. The project had quite a few delays and that was the only thing that created challenges.
