We are an online therapist booking platform based in Switzerland. We simplify the process of finding insurance accredited therapists on the web and make them online bookable for clients. I am heading the Product-Marketing team at Sanasearch.

We were looking for a developer with a special skill set (Python Django + Vue.js) to help us scale our SaaS-enabled marketplace. Radity supported us in both front- and backend work.

What were your goals for this project?

Radity delivered solutions that withstood scale. We got help in areas such as API development to connect to 3rd party software providers. They also helped us build and A/B test conversion rate optimization experiments.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

Ozgur Aksakal was the former CTO of our company and provided us with excellent development work already in the early stages. It was only the logical next step to get in touch again with Radity for further dev work.

The team consistend of 5 people: Head of Marketing & Product Development, two front end developers, one backend developer and a UX designer.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

In our first month of launching the cross-selling suite in our SaaS we were able to increase our revenue from those sales by 50%.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Project management happened through Slack, JIRA and NorthStar. Sprint meetings were held once a week at a fixed day and time. Everything was in written form as we had someone on our team with a hearing disability which in the end allowed us all to work very efficiently and with only very little distractions.

Developers were expected to manage their tasks without much supervision and get in touch with the relevant people when more feedback was needed (e.g. missing design mockups). As of the small team size, QA was also expected from every team member.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Radity has a straightforward and no BS approach to things. There is not much time lost with meetings or 'sync' calls, they are all about doing stuff and helping your company grow and excel. The developers are true professionals that go the extra mile and they're nice people at the same time. Thank you for everything!

For what projects/services did your company hire Radity GmbH?

We needed help for a project where we have to develop a Robo-Advisor platform for savings. We could have done it with our developers, but since it's our biggest project, we preferred to recruit people to help us ensure good quality and fast delivery.

What were your goals for this project?

This project had to be responsive and have different API calls (bank, insurance, payment platforms). It also had to use Django (Python) for the backend and React (JS) for the frontend. We hope to gain more clients through the platform.  

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We considered about 10 companies before selecting Radity GmbH. We chose them because Ozgur (Partner, Radity) was responsive, accommodating, and attentive to our needs. He quickly proposed a developer that was perfectly suited for this project.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

We're realizing this project with them from A to Z. We designed it and then did the backend and frontend development at the same time. Radity GmbH is providing us with frontend developers. The system also includes a presentation website, a Know Your Customer tool (with six paths/options), a back-office user, and a back-office admin.

What was the team composition?

Currently, we’re working with one frontend developer from Radity, but we’re going to hire a second one next week. There’s also a designer and a backend developer and a designer working from our side.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Partnering with Radity allows us to focus on different projects and increase our productivity. That's why we may hire other developers for this project very soon. The results are great. We knew the developer was good at JS at the start, but we didn’t know they would be as good as they've been.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We use Adobe XD for the designs (free software) and export them on Sympli to simplify the integration. We also use Git, and communicate with Slack and Skype quite often; it's very fluid. The language barrier requires some time to setup and explain things and write specs, but it's efficient in the end.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The most impressive aspect is the speed at which Radity responds to our requests. Whenever we need a developer, they introduce us to someone perfectly adapted to the role very quickly. Communication is also excellent, and they regularly ask us if everything is going well or if we need additional help.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We just started working together, so for the moment, I don't see any areas of improvement. With the developer—we come from different cultures, which can lead to moments when we don't work at the same moment or eat at the same moment and cause a drop in productivity.

I'm the president and founder of the Swiss Finance and Technology Association. We are a trade association that connects different players in the Swiss fintech scene including startups, investors, and corporations. A key element of our work is maintaining a website to serve as our center of gravity and a resource for information.

What challenge were you trying to address with Radity GmbH?

Our website was a highly trafficked, well-positioned, and about a hot topic. It had been started by a nonprofit association several years prior. Radity GmbH helped us understand our opportunities to improve and maximize the utility of our existing platform, both from the website perspective and the strategic use of our resources. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Radity GmbH started by redesigning our website. They also considered how it could play a part in our broader strategy. Having finished the initial effort, they're currently in the process of a more extensive rebuilding. They also have consulted with us on related strategic points for our service offerings and plans for marketing and communications. 

They came up with a design for the site themselves. Based on an analysis of what we had in place, they proactively gave us useful recommendations and laid a lot of groundwork to improve our processes. 

As an association and nonprofit, we're not the most focused group, so we don't have the same resources and focus that other organizations might have. Their support in shaping our strategy was instrumental. They worked on the whole package, including the frontend and backend of our platform. 

What is the team composition? 

I interacted primarily with the founder, but I believe a team of about 3–4 people was also involved in the initial site revamp. 

How did you come to work with Radity GmbH?

We frequently receive inquiries from nearshore and offshore vendors who approach us about working together. Not only is technology highly relevant, but we're also based in the high-value market of Switzerland. 

 Radity GmbH's primary differentiator was their ability to bridge nearshore capability with proactive involvement in our community. They specialize in our local market and are knowledgeable, well-connected, and informed. We connected a number of times, and they really stuck out from the competition. 

How much have you invested with them?

They've offered us cost reductions because we're a nonprofit. The cost has been upwards of ₣25,000 Swiss francs (approximately $24,500 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement is still ongoing and has morphed into a larger version. We started working together last fall in September 2018. They finished up an initial project by the end of the year in December that focused on some modifications and fixes for our existing website. Now that they've finished up additional proposals for a new site, they have started the implementation.  

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I haven't checked metrics yet because we have other priorities. Getting the site finished is our main goal. We plan to do a full assessment once the final site is ready. Since the initial redesign, the feedback on the primary level has been positive. Our in-house team is extremely excited about what they've seen so far from Radity GmbH. 

A local firm designed quite a nice website a few years ago, but it had gotten stale and out of date over time. Right away, the new look and dynamics Radity GmbH put in have been a notable improvement.  We are all very much looking forward to finalizing it.

How did Radity GmbH perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management is one of the founder's particularly strong points. I think he has a background in banking and consulting, so he's very good at stakeholder management. He listens carefully, asks the right questions, and finds a simple way to lay out the timeframes and contingencies. 

We usually communicate via Skype and WhatsApp. They offer us a lot of flexibility. Since we're both based in Zurich, we often met in person at the train station, which is 15 minutes away from us both. Our meetings have been very quick and efficient. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

The project management is their most tangibly impressive strength.  I found it uniquely valuable for our situation that the team was so actively involved in our community.  Oscar often speaks at events we attend, which was another distinguishing factor.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They're still a relatively small firm. With scale comes many advantages, but that's also a double-edged sword.

I forward packages from Germany to other countries. When a German company doesn’t want to send packages abroad, I re-box them and send them to the customers.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Radity?

Because of all the forwarding I do, I thought it would be nice to forward emails in a specific way. The idea is that for every contact someone generates on the internet, they can have a separate new email. The service is also useful in the case of unwanted marketing emails.

I’m not the most technical person in the world, and I knew that Ozgur (Partner, Radity) handled this kind of stuff. I introduced him to my idea to see if it was technically feasible, and he told me we could make a nice product out of it.

Our platform’s main requirement was an email server, and for it to be configured correctly. I need to send and receive lots of emails on a daily basis.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Radity developed my platform using Django Python and JavaScript. They integrated APIs for external services, specifically Mailgun, and the whole thing is running on a Unix server.

They enabled forwarding emails to our customers. I realized that users also need to reply to emails, but replying from their normal email would show that address as the sender. I wanted each recipient to see the proxy email as the sender, and we came up with a way to do that. I came up with the idea for this, and presented it to Radity, but I had no idea if it was possible. Now, when a user hits the reply button, the email is sent to a dummy email within our system, and the email header is changed around after that. Users can receive and send emails using thousands of different addresses, and they don’t have to do any configuration updating on their own email accounts.

I worked with Radity without any technical knowledge. Based on our discussions, they refined the idea and presented the whole thing to me. We went from zero to a finished product.

What is the team composition?

I worked with a developer and a project manager, who also worked as a developer. I talked to Ozgur about the timeline and similar subjects. I mainly used Skype with the project manager.

How did you come to work with Radity?

I was part of the same English-speaking Toastmasters club in Switzerland as Ozgur. I found out that he worked on these sorts of projects, but I didn't know the exact details. I searched online for tech companies that could deliver my project, but I realized that it may be good to work with someone locally. During my search, I saw Ozgur’s name. I remembered that I knew him in the real world, and that was a shortcut to the decision process.

We’ve spent $30,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from November 2018­–March 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The platform is up and running now, and I’m looking for marketing people to promote it. I’ve tested the technical side and found it functional.

How did Radity perform from a project management standpoint?

They were more eager than me to get the project finished because I was busy with other things. They were proactive and came back to me whenever they had a question. It was a more or less automatic process. After I gave the go-ahead, the rest went automatically. Whenever there was a question, they asked me about it proactively.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I haven’t worked with providers on anything as complicated as this before. I’d only developed a website for my package business. After Radity understood what the whole project was about, they had the drive to finish it. That was fantastic because I really didn’t have to care anymore.

No, I’m very satisfied.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

They do everything needed to get the whole thing running, so clients don’t have to worry about so many things. I find that to be fantastic.
