I am the Founder and CEO here at Flip Fit. Flip’s Social Shopping platform blends the power of social media with the buying appeal of e-commerce. Customers receive pieces of clothing based on their preferences, likes, and interactions. What were your goals for this project?

Create a digital marketing strategy that leveraged email, push and IAM as communication channels for our mobile app.

How did you select this vendor?

I found them on Clutch. I wanted an agency that I could work with the owners and not be passed off to some account manager and just be another client to a large agency. I was looking for a true partner that is an expert in what they do. Both Adam and Rob are experts when it comes to digital strategy.

The MH Digital team first developed an email messaging strategy to complement the user journey at registration, onboarding, and through to purchase, complete with the necessary data and events from our application to trigger and segment the messaging. They helped us find and scale our communication starting with Klaviyo, identify issues in our data management and integration, and then migrated us to Braze once we were ready to take the next step for our user communication across different channels.

Since that point, they have collaborated with our team to continue to improve messaging in combination with push and in-app messaging to precisely measure the lift in engagement and other KPIs from those channels. They also monitor our email deliverability and continue to work with our engineering team to manage data flow and integrity as we improve and grow our app.

What was the team composition?

I worked directly with the principals of the team, Adam and Rob. I have also had some communication with their designer Erin and email specialist Todd.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We are still engaging with MH Digital and plan to continue. So far we have been through a couple iterations of our digital strategy. They have navigated a couple data challenges, migrated platforms, kept a handle of our email deliverability.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We primarily use Slack as our main form of communication (emails, phone calls, screen sharing when needed) and it has worked very well. The MH Digital team makes an effort to be available regardless of the time of day and always responsive. They’ve become a valuable extension to my team and continue to add more value as the days continue on.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We were looking for a partner to grow with and through their dedication, communication and experience we found exactly what we were looking for. They took the time to really understand the company and our mission and created a plan around that. We started by meeting with Adam and Rob and really digging into our business, which is really helpful because in this case our business is pretty complicated. We dug into every one of our active email campaigns and talked out what they would look like in a perfect world. They then made some suggestions for new tools and processes, then created a flow chart proposing a new way of segmenting our leads. We tweaked it, and they were responsive and present through the whole process.

At most there were four people on the MH side, but Rob and Adam were our main contacts. We met with them about once a week for the bulk of our contract.

MHDG took their time to get to know our business and its needs. We had a variety of discussions about what deliverables should be, and they proceeded to put together a full digital strategy for us. We asked them to especially focus on our email plan, and they immediately got our lists more organized via thorough analysis.

They then moved our emails to Klaviyo, and we were really impressed with the depth of detail with which they were able to wield the platform. MHDG also helped us identify potential partners, better ways to maximize trade show value, better website practices, and an overall significantly improved digital presence.

Rob has been our main point of contact, while his partner Adam has been available when needed. Todd led the charge on building our emails while Dallas was very helpful with our website.

We vetted about 4 other solutions/services/agencies. Although the price is always a factor, our primary interest was whether we could find a partner to grow with. We found a lot of service-based solutions to be very cookie-cutter without a lot of emphasis on business understanding, one size fits all pricing, etc. These red flags were absent with MHDigital.

The primary goal was to move to Klaviyo from a custom send grid implementation and then leverage our data to expand our program with their testing and iteration expertise to generate new revenue and make our program more profitable.

The team was able to hit and exceed our conversion rate targets within 60 days after taking over our abandonment program. Additionally, they identified 3-4 key experiments that help drive down our need to discount our service (which bumped our profitability up).

MH Digital group has been a critical part of:

  • handling our migration between software providers 
  • taking an active role in managing email deliverability
  • ensuring third party integrations were set up correctly
  • coding HTML email templates
  • setting up advanced email automations to deliver the right messaging to our subscribers at the right time
  • consulting on overall email strategy.

What was the team composition?

I worked closely with the principles of the firm, as well as their HTML email developer, Todd. They were all extremely responsive, patient and understanding.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We have fixed numerous rendering issues with our emails. Otherwise, our project is still ongoing but our numbers are all trending in the right direction.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

As is normal starting off a business relationship, there was a brief period where we were trying to figure out how to best work together. While we were working through this phase, the principles were extremely helpful in ensuring the relationship exceeded and that we figured out the best way to implement structure and efficiency into the relationship.

I am extremely happy with how they seem to care about getting things done CORRECTLY as quickly and efficiently as possible - even when our relationship was predicated upon hourly work.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I'm the most impressed about how the company seems to truly listen and understand our business goals. I believe this strategic alignment allows them to take more of a hands-on and proactive approach rather than waiting for specific direction like most agencies we've worked with.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I mean, things can always get better...but how much more can we ask of them that they haven't delivered? Not much.
