Website Redesign for Pit Cocktail Bar
"We were impressed by Complex's thorough knowledge of WordPress."

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the Marketing & PR Lead for Ballie Ballerson, London's leading ball pit cocktail bar. My team and I are responsible for delivering all creative direction for the company, managing seasonal events, setting the tone for customer communication and building the customer journey from branding to our website.
For what projects/services did your company hire Complex Creative?
With around 40% of our revenue coming from online sales, given that we are a ticketed venue, we were in need of a new website that served us internally- ease of use and being able to update all elements - and externally - making the selection process for tickets easiest for our customers.
Our previous website was receiving a significant amount of traffic however we also noticed downfalls in the workarounds we had to make for any new venue openings and/or new events.
What were your goals for this project?
We needed a new look and feel that aligned with our refreshed venue experience, an easy and open backend setup which wasn't stunted by complicated coding and to future proof our site to make space for new venue openings. Our weekly traffic sat at around 30k visits so our aim was to retain this number for the months following a site relaunch.
How did you select Complex Creative?
We were based in WeWork at the time of this project starting and I put an enquiry out to the community with the brief of ensuring we were working with an agency that knew Wordpress and could provide an open platform for my team and I to update. After speaking to around 4 different candidates, we met with Sabrina and kicked off the project after a successful pitch.
Describe the project in detail.
We had an initial meeting where we explained our experience with the previous website agency, plus presented relevant stats for the business to really provide that context. Sabrina demonstrated examples of Complex's work and initial ideas of the customer journey.
My team then entered into UX conversations where Complex would send us proposals and site hierarchy suggestions to sign off. Once we consulted with another of our digital marketing colleagues, Complex set pace on the design of the website and would send through flat designs of the pages in question for sign off.
COVID unfortunately got in the way of this process, however, on return to the project we had another couple of progress calls before running through a test website.
What was the team composition?
Sabrina was our lead on the project. I wasn't aware of how many people we had access to from her team outside of that - I just knew that there were various members on hand to complete the website.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Given the circumstances of this year we have really struggled to do a fair comparison as we have been closed for the majority of 2020. Despite that, we have had amazing feedback on the design of the website plus reached almost a third of our standard weekly traffic for the short period we did open our doors.
Enquiries from our newly integrated forms were coming in thick and fast too so we are hopeful for 2021!
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
We had an efficient project manager who took the time to ask about any requirements we had at every stage. There were moments when it may have been good to also have direct access to those who were completing the feedback for example to reduce chains of communication, however, we were pleased to be working with Sabrina overall.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
We were impressed by Complex's thorough knowledge of WordPress and how they took our business information and really made for a smart looking new website.
They stuck to their promise of providing training once the website was finished, ongoing support with any new requests and making sure we as a team have access to every corner of our website - something we had been burnt by previously. Complex were honest and transparent from start to finish.
Are there any areas for improvement?
We had a few periods of having to chase and also wanted to do some final tests which we didn't get the chance to do, but these really didn't effect the overall quality of the product and I would certainly recommend Complex to other businesses.

Web Development for International Consultancy

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO and co-founder of an international management consultancy.
What challenge were you trying to address with Complex Creative?
We brought them on to develop our website as part of our rebranding initiative.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They developed a microsite with a new feel and brand, and we plan to expand it into a larger site. They’ve provided guidance that helps us determine functionality. We just sent them fresh text and they integrated that with our mockup really quickly.
What is the team composition?
We worked with Sabrina (Founder).
How did you come to work with Complex Creative?
I met Sabrina a few years back and she helped us with our original website when we were looking to move onto another platform. Then, we put out an RFP on a vetting platform, and Complex Creative returned the best proposal. They offered a great rate and value.
We’ve been really happy with their work, so when we revamped things to reflect our expanding business, we went back to them.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent just under $5,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working on this project in April 2020 and it’s ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’ve received good feedback from people who use our site regularly. It has been great for business development because the site has helped us build our reputation and showcase what we do. We’re really happy about their work so far, and are excited about the next phase of the project in which we will start to track engagement.
I’ve been really impressed with their knowledge and understanding of what we require. I definitely see this as an ongoing relationship; it won’t be one-and-done, that’s for sure.
How did Complex Creative perform from a project management standpoint?
They’re excellent. Over the course of the project, I got to know Sabrina better, and now I have a good sense of her ethics. She has a lot of integrity and pride in the work that they do. She has been stellar when it comes to communication. We’ve developed a fantastic professional relationship, but I enjoy her personally as well.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’re very patient, which has been helpful since we started working on the design. They’re also very responsive. They understand our needs and can communicate our message clearly to our clients.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I can’t think of anything I would want them to do better.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be a respectful client and you will get a good product that will meet your needs.

Please describe your company and your position there.
My company provides communications and media relations services for a range of clients.
For what projects/services did your company hire London Creative Designs?
We engaged London Creative Designs to create a press kit for the new season of a popular TV series to launch across our client's global television network.
What were your goals for this project?
Our press kits are delivered digitally to media across the world. While adhering to a basic 'house style' in format, they must present the content creatively, reflecting the design identity of a new season and its promotional photography and key artwork.
Critically, the kits are translated into multiple languages for international markets. The primary goal of this endeavor is to excite media contacts while presenting information clearly and coherently across its multiple versions.
How did you select this vendor?
Having worked with London Creative Designs on previous projects, I was confident they could deliver on this brief. Our previous work had been predominantly technical in nature. Even though this was a new type of project, I knew they were the right team. I’ve been consistently impressed with London Creative Design’s creative approach to all our briefs.
Describe the project in detail.
At the start, we gave London Creative Designs with a written brief and assets like key art, photography, and copy in several translations. We held briefings to discuss our requirements using previous examples as a guide. After they sent us Initial layout specs, we responded with verbal feedback. Upon our approval, they swiftly moved into the execution phase to produce a completed press kit.
What was the team composition?
Our point of contact, Sabrina (Director, London Creative Designs) managed the project in its entirety. She remained accessible and highly communicative throughout our engagement.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Upon delivery, our client was highly impressed with the standard of design. London Creative Design designed a press kit that’s ideally in keeping with the TV show’s identity. We approved it without amendments and disseminated it for use by media relations teams across Latin America and Europe.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
The team’s workflow was highly efficient. London Creative Design worked diligently to swiftly deliver all our requested design developments and amendments.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
LCD provides a fast, efficient and highly competent service.
Are there any areas for improvement?
From my perspective, there are none.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I own and manage The Puzzle Post, an e-commerce jigsaw shop. We offer jigsaw sales, monthly and quarterly subscription services, and membership to The Puzzle Post Club.
For what projects/services did your company hire Complex Creative?
As we were quick to launch in April of this year, our initial website was essentially a landing page. As we gained footing in the market, we knew we needed a refresh of the website experience. We engaged with Complex Creative to help bring our vision to life.
What were your goals for this project?
As our website is essentially our storefront, we needed to have a stylish, sleek, usable, and on brand website experience that highlighted each of our services.
How did you select Complex Creative?
I reached out to a few agencies and found Complex Creative to be the most responsive and the best fit for my small budget, lack of creative input, and timeline.
Describe the project in detail.
Once we agreed to terms, we had a brief discovery session, where I attempted to share my vision for the website. I am very creatively challenged, but Sabrina was able to interpret my vision, and after only three rounds of revisions I had a final website design to take into development.
What was the team composition?
I worked directly with Sabrina. I didn't interact with any other members of the Complex Creative team, though I understand they were working behind the scenes.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Since launching my website transformation I have seen a significant increase in both traffic to the site, as well as overall sales. I received my first subscription customers thanks in part to the creative way in which Sabrina and team were able to describe the products.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Communication with Sabrina was seamless and she was always prompt in her responses.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
The teams ability to interpret my vision and bring it to life with such minimal input on my end was so impressive, and so apprecaited.
Are there any areas for improvement?
I cannot think of any at this time.

I manage the Marketing & PR for Benveniste. Benveniste Couture is a Couturiere based in Kensington London, specializing in bespoke women's wear.
For what projects/services did your company hire Complex Creative, and what were your goals?
Our website was created about 10 years ago and in need of a complete over haul, redesign and rebuild. We don't have an in house team and Complex Creative worked alongside our Creative Director/Founder to bring her vision to life.
How did you select Complex Creative and what were the deciding factors?
We were under huge time pressure and budget restraints to relaunch a new website, and interviewed 3 companies for the task. Complex Creative were knowledgeable, flexible and accommodating.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
We had an in-person kick off meeting discussing ideas, goals, design etc. and from there Complex Creative provided mock up designs. They were very accommodating with the back and fourths from our side and implemented all changes requested.
Complex Creative launched the wordpress site and continue to maintain it. We are now in the process of setting up the E-comm page with customisation configuration options.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
Sabrina, the Managing Director, was our point of contact throughout the process and we were in touch directly with one of the designers too.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
Clients loved the updated design, and we now feel confident sharing the website with new clients, for brand collaborations etc. We also get sign ups through the contact form which we never had before.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
The design and launch was on a very tight timeline, which Complex Creative managed to adhere to even with all the changes etc. We communicated through email and telephone calls.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
We were in constant contact, they were quick to respond and had ideas about what was and what wasn't achievable.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
We had a couple of minor issues, which all sites have and they were quick to respond even on weekends etc.

Axewoods Co-operative is a not-for-profit volunteer organisation registered under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014. Focussed on ‘social forestry’ principals, members can secure their own woodfuel needs, address local fuel poverty and work together for collective community benefits.
For what projects/services did your company hire Complex Creative?
We needed a new website to replace the old, rather amateur one, a new logo and general rebranding.
What were your goals for this project?
To have a site that reflected the aims and objectives of our organisation, one that was accessible and inspirational to members and the general public, promoted the ideals of social forestry and was easily accessible for editing and additions by Committee members. To enable prospective sponsors to see our work and be inspired to contribute or at least follow-up.
How did you select Complex Creative?
Our sponsor, The Ebico Trust appointed them
Describe the project in detail.
We were given a huge choice of appropriate logos based on our original. These were put to members to vote on a one received a good majority. The different requirements of the site were discussed at length, alternatives explored and creative suggestions made. A thoroughly enjoyable process. We supplied a range of photographs for use, but not really of high enough quality so a professional photographer was appointed. Once the basic structure of the site was agreed useful and essential features were added and all legal notices included.
What was the team composition?
Basically, we had a team of three + the photographer handling the project - but I suspect there were other Complex Creative staff involved where their particular expertise was required.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
...too early to say, but feedback from members is very positive.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Excellent - even during the worst phase of the Covid-19 crisis we had instant and professional advice and friendly service
What did you find most impressive about this company?
As an ex-teacher and university lecturer I fully appreciated the way we were guided through choices, offered alternatives and advised on best practice and legal requirements. They would have earned a Distinction if I had to mark them!
Are there any areas for improvement?
...can't think of any. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable process which delivered a product we can be proud of. I have no reservations about recommending them to anyone.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I'm the Head of Marketing & Operations for the UK's first not-for-profit energy company. I also look after the company for Sustainable development. This project was building the website for one of the Log bank providers that the company was funding.
For what projects/services did your company hire Complex Creative, and what were your goals?
Axewoods doesn't have the expertise, in house, to build a website, and they have used one of the online drag and drop builders to develop their website.
However, the website had some great content, but it wasn't achieving the objectives of the organisation, and they often had to make it more clear about what they do verbally.
We decided to fund the new website. However, (the company) had to manage the project.
How did you select Complex Creative and what were the deciding factors?
We tendered to two agencies, and Complex Creative had more relevant experience and provided the technical and creative solution that we were comfortable with.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
The project was completed during the Covid-19 pandemic; therefore, all meetings were held virtually. We have set the organisation's objectives and have written the copy for different sections.
However, we wanted the agency to use their creative skills to design the homepage and help around increasing donations. The website also had to be mobile responsive. From the technical solution, we wanted to makes sure that other developers widely support the CMS that is being used.
Finally, the website had to be compliant with the GDPR and latest Data Protection Regulation in the UK.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
I worked directly with their MD and she managed the project on her side.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
To be measured over a period of time. Too early to say. However, we're hoping to achieve: more trust from the users of the services, and, hopefully, increased donations.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
We used email and Zoom and it worked well for us.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
On the first call, they provided an excellent recommendation and have implemented it. They have never backtracked on any of their ideas or increased their costs during the project.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Everything went very smoothly.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Timeliness on some deliverables. We were not ideal clients in that we changed core branding elements and designs at ad hoc interval throughout the process. CCs were always happy to support. The only area for improvement would be around timelines of certain elements, though as stated this was largely driven by us changing requirements.
