Construction Engineers
Construction Engineers came to Codelation looking for a website refresh. Their old site was outdated, wasn’t optimized for mobile, and they weren’t able to manage it in-house with a Content Management System (CMS).
The Codelation team worked to build a website that was easy to navigate and focused on telling Construction Engineers’ story. The new site also includes an easy to use CMS that is flexible enough to work with new technology and trends, so the Construction Engineers team can adapt their site as they grow and evolve.
Construction Engineers’ new website now tells their story in a way that is real to the company’s mission, vision, and values, allowing them to form more authentic relationships with their clients and stakeholders. They also save time and money by not having to reach out to a web company to make updates, as they can do it themselves.

Tellwell
Telling stories has always been a superpower for Tellwell; coding website functionality was a superpower they were lacking. That’s what drew Codelation and Tellwell together as corporate partners. They are a match made in creative heaven––two crews utilizing their strengths to deliver major success.
The team at Tellwell is made up of creative geniuses who work with video, design, writing, and web design. They are dedicated to helping their clients share real stories. However, they do not have a dedicated developer on staff, so they partner with Codelation to support the functionality and maintenance of their beautifully designed websites. Codelation has worked alongside Tellwell on several projects, including sites for West River Telecom, the Plains Art Museum, and the Fargo-Moorhead Community Theatre.
Codelation’s website builds are the stage for the shining content made by Tellwell and their clients. With dynamic backends and killer content, clients are able to showcase current campaigns, update events calendars, and tell their stories in an authentic way. By combining their strengths, Codelation and Tellwell have been able to create beautiful products and success for themselves, their clients, and their community.

Subscribers.com
Neil Patel came to Codelation looking to develop an app for his followers that would increase subscribers using a simple web push notification. The Codelation team rose to the challenge and helped Neil develop Subcribers.com.
Subscribers is a web push notification product under Patel’s brand Hello Bar. Like Subscribers.com, Hello Bar is aimed at increasing subscribers to a company’s product or service, only it uses customizable popups for your website, rather than web push notifications.
Subscribers.com proved its effectiveness when it increased click-through rates to between 20% and 40%. Since Codelation’s initial MVP version of Subscribers, many other features and benefits have been added, and it is now one of the most powerful web push notification tools to exist.

Harvest Profit
Codelation worked with Harvest Profit creator, Nick Horob, to build his software as a service (SaaS) product so that he could help farmers manage the financial side of their business.
Together, they made a farm management software tool that allows farms of all sizes to track their profit and loss in real time, giving them the confidence to make fewer emotional decisions and more profit-focused business decisions. With features like real-time profit and loss statements, marketing plans, and what/if analyses, farmers can make decisions based on data, not gut feelings.
In November of 2020, John Deere announced their acquisition of Harvest Profit, and today it is being used by over 650 farmers across the continent, creating thriving business for both Harvest Profit and its users.

Liquid Ice
Codelation worked with the marketing team at Liquid Ice to refresh their website so that it focused more on mobile design and incorporated their newly produced video content.
Liquid Ice had several challenges with their old website, including the inability to make edits or add new content in-house, not being up-to-date with the evolution of mobile technology, and having a hard time keeping a connection between their site and vendor portal as site updates were made. Codelation solved these issues by keeping mobile viewing on the forefront of their minds and incorporating Liquid Ice’s new video content to give the site a fresh look. Codelation also built an easy to use backend dashboard that allows Liquid Ice to make updates in-house so that they can stay up-to-date with new marketing trends while also keeping their previous vendor portal.
Liquid Ice’s website now has a modern look that tells their story and is mobile friendly. They are able to get ahead of their competition and keep brand consistency by being able to instantly change their site to keep up with marketing campaigns. New customers, current customers, and vendors can now use their site as a one-stop shop for learning about their brand, buying their product, and all other things Liquid Ice.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO and lead consultant of Cultivate21. We’re an education consulting company that focuses on teaching other teachers about project-based learning 21st-century skills, and I work with schools all over the US.
What challenge were you trying to address with Codelation?
I’ve created my own software, and Codelation has been my software developer.
What was the scope of their involvement?
The software that Codelation helped me develop was for creating project-based learning units. They helped design the first two iterations, and we’re currently using its third iteration.
Initially, I got in contact with Josh (Founder) and he and I built a relationship through the first two interactions of the software. We talked about redesigning the software, what we wanted to make, and then he created a bid for me — I had to decide what I wanted to keep and needed because of the costs.
After that, he assigned me to a team that had a project manager and lead web developer. We had scrum meetings every day to look at the progress of the software, they’d ask questions and demo things, and by the end, we had a fantastic new product. Additionally, there was another member of the team who did the testing, and his job was to pretty much break the product. We met with him several times as part of the scrum to know what he was working on, and what he needed to test the software.
After we’d launch, there were a couple of little fixes that needed to happen once we had people in the software, and Codelation immediately fixed them.
What is the team composition?
There were six people in total who were in and out of the project. The project manager, web developer, and tester were the ones who were almost always at the meetings. Josh would come in sometimes, as well as the lead project manager.
How did you come to work with Codelation?
We met through a recommendation of a friend. The vendor that my friend recommended couldn’t really help me, so they referred me to Codelation instead. They initially helped me develop the software from the ground up.
How much have you invested with them?
For the three iterations of the software, we roughly spent $47,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started in March 2018 and the product launched in June of the same year. They’re still providing us with ongoing support.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Our software currently has 857 users, and 29 districts subscribed to it.
How did Codelation perform from a project management standpoint?
Codelation performed very well from a project management standpoint. I worked specifically with Meagan (Project Manager) who was on everything, and she knew just when to communicate with me — she was really good at keeping things going. They used Trello to manage the project, which I didn’t have access to, but I could see the progress through that software during our meetings.
They kept everyone in the loop and it was really nice to see tasks move through the completion phase. Apart from Trello, we used Zoom for our daily scrum meetings and basic email.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I just think that they’re real people who I could talk to about where I wanted my software to go. They weren’t judgmental and they supported me to move in the direction where I needed to move as a company. Additionally, the team had a good mix of people, and Josh did a really good job of getting the right people on the bus, to make his company more superior compared to other software developers — I never felt like I was being talked down to.
Codelation didn’t have an ego, and they were there to help me build my brand and company. They helped streamline my process so it can work the way it’s supposed to. I looked at other companies and I felt like they didn’t think my project was large enough for them, but Codelation took smaller projects and felt like I was really important to them.
Moreover, Josh is really active in our small business community, and I’ve always been impressed with his integrity.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I’ve seen a lot of changes in the last three years where I was mainly working with one developer and one project manager. I don’t really know if there would be anything I need to improve because this experience has been really smooth. I know if I needed anything, I can always go back to them and they’ll support me.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
My advice would be to just be open and honest about your needs and Codelation will be open and honest about what they can provide. If they’re not the right fit, they’re going to help you find the right fit. I have found that they get the right people on the team to serve you and meet your goals.

Custom Software & Web Dev for Data-Focused Marketing Agency
"I may not always say things in the right way when I talk to them, but they always understand and hear me."

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of ConnectLabs, a data-focused marketing and advertising agency.
What challenge were you trying to address with Codelation?
We hired Codelation to help us with a custom software development project.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Codelation has put together a whole team for us, consisting of project managers, developers, and other members. They help us oversee the entire development project and make sure that everything turns out properly. As we scale and gain more revenue, we’ll be developing more features with them.
Apart from that project, they’ve also built two websites for us. One website is called Where’s The Foodtruck, where people use our platform to find food trucks. Meanwhile, the other website advertises the products we’re selling to food trucks.
What is the team composition?
We’ve worked with seven people from their team, including three project managers, two developers, and one QA tester.
How did you come to work with Codelation?
I heard a lot of great things about Codelation from other people who had been doing business with them. As a result, I decided to give them a call and meet with Josh (Founder). I felt good about their services, so I ran with it.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested close to $100,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started the project in October 2020, and our partnership is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
In terms of metrics, we’ve onboarded close to 100 food trucks to our platform after building the website. It’s been so successful that we’ve had to stop onboarding — we’ve had to slow down.
How did Codelation perform from a project management standpoint?
In terms of project management, the fact that Codelation can take my frustrations and still understand me is crucial because it’s nerve-wracking to be spending money on a project. I may not always say things in the right way when I talk to them, but they always understand and hear me.
To communicate, we use Slack. Every week, we have scrum meetings where they tell me the status of the project and the goals we’ve set.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Josh is highly transparent; he tells things how they are. Other companies overcharge me and I end up asking where those costs come from. By contrast, Josh keeps things clear and lets me know where their charges are going — he always makes sure I know where we stand.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, there aren’t any. They’ve crushed the project for me, so I have no complaints.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be completely transparent. If you don’t know something, ask questions. They can’t help you if you don’t ask questions.
Thanks to Codelation, the company has garnered around 857 users and 29 district software subscribers with a potential increase in the future. The internal stakeholders were particularly impressed with the team's dedication, approach to project management, and integrity to support smaller businesses.
