BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am a project coordinator for a Swiss nonprofit based in Geneva, Switzerland. We were building an app to raise mine risk awareness for civilians in Ukraine. The app allowed to view a map with dangerous territories and mined zones. This was a project involving many different stakeholders.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Axicube?

Our team was not sure about our UI/UX for the app we were building. We were referred to Axicube by our partner. The project was close to the final release and we were limited by timelines, development team availability, etc. Thus, any changes to UI/UX could stall all the work and delay our release. Most of the Dev team did not want to change anything.

How did you select this vendor?

Axicube made a comprehensive UI/UX review for our mobile app for iOS and Android. At the time, it was a small and very agile team. We were lucky to encounter such a fantastic team of professionals who made a huge difference to our app.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

I have led several UI/UX projects before but this one was different thanks to Axucube. It was like a breath of fresh air. After the review, they came up with potential bottlenecks. They suggested what we had to fix to improve the user experience and the overall feel and look of the app. The results were great thanks to the proactive and professional work of this company. The team grasped the essence and key functionality of the app. Besides recommendations, Axicube went several steps further. They really helped us to improve the user experience with 3 different scenarios in Figma. We agreed on one and kept other great ideas for our next releases. During two sessions we had a complete idea of how our app will look like and we absolutely loved it. Working with Axicube helped to save a lot of time on many meetings and re-iterations. We agreed on stylistics, fonts, assets, and visual cues and they delivered it. Axicube is the Agile approach at its best. They deliver value – it is a great and fantastic experience and result, which I want to repeat again.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We had 2 resources working with us: - Project lead / chief design officer :) - UI/UX designer Both were fantastic and very experienced. It was an absolute pleasure to work with them. The feel of style and beauty is amazing. They listen to the customer and deliver value. I absolutely loved it. Axicube knew that we were stretched with our budgets for development. In order to help the cause, Axicube team worked as volunteers for our project.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We launched the app and it reached over 40k downloads in 5 days. Users gave us positive reviews over 4.3 for Google Play and  over 4.7 for App Store. With the work of Axicube, we had a clear roadmap on how to improve our app for the next 2-3 releases. We were limited with development team availability and they listened to us and gave us those golden 20/80, which was awesome.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The communication was easy and quick. Despite work on other projects, we had a very quick responses all the time. Our Dev team preferred Slack for workflows and Axicube had no problem with it at all. Most of the work was in FIgma and it was a big plus for the team. No unnecessary call, VC, emails or time spent in vain. Everything was clear and efficient. All assets and change log were in one place - indeed very convenient and efficient.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The great team! They are a young and agile team of superb UI/UX designers. Axicube simply over-delivered. Their approach, communication, tools, and results were above our expectations. They are simply a great team, whom you can encounter not very often. I am very grateful to Grape.ua agency, which referred me to Axicube professional team. They really helped to take our humanitarian project to the next level.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

They know what they are good at and this is their key asset. No other comments in this regard. This is a great and agile team. I really appreciate their contribution to MineFree.info project.
