’m the General Manager at King Painting & Wallpapering, Inc.. We provide residential, commercial, and equestrian painting and maintenance services. We are based in Lancaster County but complete painting and renovation projects all over the United States. As a full-service company, we also offer many other services, including wallpapering, staining, power washing, prefinishing, and maintenance for commercial and residential spaces.

For what projects/services did your company hire WTM Digital?

We hired WTM Digital to design and develop our new website. They also drove the website content strategy and wrote the new copy. We are now working with them to deploy a long-term SEO strategy to drive traffic and leads.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We chose our agency list through word-of-mouth and referrals. It was important that we chose an agency that had experience completing custom web design and development projects, especially for businesses similar to ours. We needed to be able to showcase our projects and previous work visually with an image gallery, which they had done for other clients. We also liked that the agency was local to us so we could meet in person.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

After having a discovery meeting to understand what we wanted and what our goals were, the team put together a thorough project scope that outlined their recommendations based on what we shared. The scope was a great way for our team to understand each phase of the project before we got started.

Their content team researched and drafted the copy while the web team worked on the design. Once we reviewed the content and design, their team handled all of the development and uploaded the copy. They also completed a post launch technical audit to check for errors and to ensure that the site was functioning as it should.

For the website project, we worked with their Project Delivery Manager who oversaw the project from start to finish and handled communication between our teams. We had several team members from their SEO/content and web departments who completed the work.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The website now really serves as a business development tool for us. We can easily direct prospects to look at our website to see images of our work in the project gallery. Most of our business came through word of mouth, but we are now able to generate inbound leads with the website and the ongoing SEO work.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The initial discovery and kickoff meeting really worked well for us in that they were able to get a lot of the information that they needed from our team upfront so they could hit the ground running on the project. For a business like ours, it was reassuring to know work was being done when our service schedule was busy during peak season.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They really took the time to understand our business, industry, and what was important to us. They combined their expertise in SEO and web development with the knowledge we had about our business and industry to build a website that meets the needs of our clients.

Their team was responsive, but more proactive updates about where they were at with the project would’ve been helpful.

I am the director of growth marketing for a leading water cooler service provider for businesses. I am responsible for inbound marketing and the associated revenue for the business.

For what projects/services did your company hire Web Talent Marketing, and what were your goals?

1) PPC management -- our previous vendor was no longer able to achieve our growth goals while maintaining campaign efficiency. Our goal was to grow the business while improving ROAS. 2) We needed to launch a website in a very short time frame for a new business unit. Our goal was to complete the website in 6 weeks.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We searched for digital agencies that could conduct both PPC and SEO. We had been burned by larger partners putting our account in auto pilot. We also needed an integrated, thoughtful approach to paid and organic lead generation. We evaluated 7 firms and had them conduct audits, and three presented to our executive team. Web Talent's confidence in their proposed solutions, pragmatic approach, obvious acumen in PPC, and creativity won them the bid.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and marking tools used.

For the PPC work, once the initial audit was completed, we planned out goals by month for the account, as well as deliverables. Specifically, this involved new ad copy, a/b testing, account restructuring and build out, competitor analysis, quarterly business reviews, and weekly account maintenance and project management. Custom reporting was set up using Supermetrics and Google sheets.

Ongoing use of other tools like SpyFu, ClickCease, etc. we're leveraged to ensure campaigns ran smoothly. For the website work, we laid out a strict timeline of weekly deliverables including designs, e-commerce platform recommendations, UAT, launching the site and QA. Tools included Wordpress, WooCommerce, and various plugins to integrate our marketing tech.

7 with regularity but access to the whole team at various points for strategy sessions. COO, Account Manager, PPC Manager, PPC Specialist, Web Designer, Web Project Manager, Analytics Manager.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

For PPC, we experienced growth for the first time in more than three years. The first year we grew out two new campaigns that resulted in more than 20% growth in revenue. Even when we weren't able to experience growth during the pandemic, our ROAS was very strong, upwards of 5X. The team was eager to align on business goals and celebrated the wins alongside us. Our campaigns were clean and efficient, which was reinforced by other audits we had conducted for due diligence.

As far as the web work--the project completed ahead of time (6 weeks!) and on budget. The website remains in use to this day, two years later, and has been stable in terms of code and maintenance. It also kickstarted significant organic lead generation for the new business unit, reducing the need for increased marketing spend.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The team was responsive and, when needed during volatile times (pandemic) would break from our weekly calls and have check ins daily if required. We often would get last minute requests from leadership and the time was extremely responsive. Sometimes timelines would drag because the team was overly optimistic about how much time a deliverable would take, but they were flexible with priorities when needed and ultimately made sure they were working on what was going to get results.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

How much they cared and took the time to learn about our business. This is critically important because to have effective digital marketing, you need to set up campaigns and websites so that your customers have a frictionless experience. Their responsiveness to our requests was particularly outstanding. They were not afraid to make suggestions on how we could improve, even beyond the scope of what they were tasked with. I would consider them true partners in business.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

For ongoing work, making sure deliverable deadlines don't slip too much. Project management can help here. Also, having a data scientist on the team with access to a data warehouse to do analysis more efficiently would be outstanding.

I am the digital marketing manager for the third largest physical therapy in the United States. We have a complex Wordpress multisite with over twenty individual brand websites and nearly eight hundred location pages for our clinics.

We spoke with a number of agencies that were recommended to us by the agency that developed our website. Web Talent was the most knowledgable and organized. Unlike competitors, they had experienced SEO professionals handle our account rather than account managers with only a couple of years of experience.

Our engagement began with some collaborative planning meetings for the complex website redesign project, which included Web Talent, stakeholders from our organization and representatives from our website development agency. After the dev site was built, Web Talent completed a pre-launch technical SEO audit, and then did something similar after launch. They also overhauled our performance tracking, allowing easier maintenance and the ability to see all relevant metrics in one place, including conversion types we hadn't been able to track previously. They also performed a blog audit for us and another technical audit a year after launch.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

As a result of the website redesign, we can now launch new brand websites within a day, and rank well in our desired areas fairly quickly. We have also seen a dramatic increase in online appointment requests.

Web Talent is extremely organized, and treats each project with care. There were no issues with timeliness, and we really felt like we had a good relationship with their team as we worked through the project.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Web Talent is unique in that their team is made up of professionals with a lot of experience. Many SEO agencies hire inexperienced account managers and rely on buzz words to sell their services. With Web Talent, you can trust that the end product will exceed expectations and that you have true experts working on your project.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

There was a little bit of miscommunication in the very beginning of the relationship, but the person on their team we were dealing with at that time left soon after. I am thinking her mind was elsewhere when communicating with us. Since then, any issues with disruptions or miscommunication have come from our end, and Web Talent has been very accommodating as we work through things. I have no negative comments.

We’ve tracked our KPI’s when working with Web Talent Marketing to see if we’re getting results or not, and the team has done a good job. 

How did Web Talent Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?

We’ve communicated mostly through Zoom meetings and emails. Before COVID-19, we had occasional face-to-face meetings to check how everything was going. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

The team is very flexible. Sometimes, Google changes its algorithms so we have to make adjustments to our SEO and website, however, they always adapt and work on these modifications without any problems. They’ve understood our needs, abilities, and budgets — and that’s been very helpful.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Project management is an area where they could improve. There have been occasions when we should’ve had more follow-ups or regular updates. There have been big gaps between meetings, where both Web Talent Marketing and our team could've brainstormed ideas to know what we should be doing next. I think it’s better if the agency puts together the initiative rather than the client. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Get to know the team members and their roles. I’d also advise scheduling regular standups where you can regroup, discuss, and make sure everything’s on track.

I am the founder and CEO of ChurchPlaza, which is a 35-year-old provider of seating products to churches and synagogues around the world. Historically, we offered a much broader array of capital products, but we’ve really focused on seating since 2008.

We started to transition into the digital marketplace some years ago. I used to rely extensively on print media and had a background in seminar promotion, but digital media had many nuances that I didn’t understand. Though it had similarities with print, it was not my forte, so hired the right people, like Web Talent Marketing, to help me.

They’ve expanded and greatly improved my blog-writing and have brought in design experts and other specialists as we need them, all the while keeping an eye on our ROI.

Most importantly, their team has been able to grow and understand our marketplace. I’d done a lot of research over the years and have published quite extensively in the faith market area, and Web Talent Marketing was able to grasp the difference between chairs for churches and synagogues and other products that are offered in the B2B market. We are quite unique in that we cater to a very unique blend of individuals and businesses, so the trends are different from what others might see in other niche verticals.

How did you come to work with Web Talent Marketing?

I started with a local company and went through two additional companies as we grew in the digital area. We ended on a very positive note with everyone we’ve worked with, but their skill set just wasn’t adequate enough to advance us to the next level. 

I searched online for the leading digital marketing companies and started to make calls all over the country. I spent several weeks just talking to people, getting comfortable with them, and finding out how they worked. We began working with Web Talent Marketing in June 2014, and it has been an exceptionally positive ongoing relationship on all sides.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We work throughout the world, 80% in the US, but inquiries come to us either digitally or through the phone. We don’t do outbound calls or have any walk-in traffic. We measure the number of inquiries that convert to leads and then become closed deals, so we know the margin of exactly how much we spend for each lead and each closed deal. 

We’ve found that all of our numbers have gone up. While our cost per inquiry has increased since we’ve expanded our marketing efforts, our net of closed deals has dramatically jumped up. From my point of view, we don’t spend money on marketing, we invest in it, and we’ve seen good returns in that respect. 

The key to having a successful digital business is being attuned to measuring the returns. We didn’t just focus on what Web Talent Marketing could do for us but also upheld our responsibility to understand and be responsive to the information that their team would bring. 

How did Web Talent Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?

I’m an old marine, so sometimes I’m not gentle when I want attention, but they’ve been very good about that. Sometimes I know what I want but don’t know how to get it, so the strength of our relationship comes in when I depend upon their judgment to bring in the right team members for the project. I leave everything in their hands with a significant level of trust.

Every time an issue comes up, the Web Talent Marketing team resolves it favorably. In our organization, we are a large family of imperfect people that are perfect together. It is not unlike our relationship with Web Talent Marketing. We bring to them a unique understanding of the marketplace and they bring to us a unique capability in the digital space.

What did you find most impressive about them?

There are several things we found impressive about Web Talent Marketing:

1. They offer a comprehensive solution.
2. Their PPC program is very strong. We are a company that didn’t have a strong SEO ranking, but Web Talent Marketing has been excellent in building that for us as well.  
3. This is without criticism to the other companies that I’ve talked with over the years, but Web Talent Marketing doesn’t blow a lot of smoke or make wild promises. They’re aware of the competitive, dog-eat-dog nature of the ranking business. The team is dogmatic, thorough, and thinks in the long term.

Noone that we worked with before has understood the nuances of digital marketing the way they have. They’re also very creative when it comes to the graphics they produce for us.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They’re a growing organization so they’ve had some turnover at a time where I wish they didn’t. However, this has since stabilized and I couldn’t ask more from them. They’re very patient with me and my shortcomings. I would highly recommend them to any firm that’s serious about digital marketing.

Don't come in if you are hoping for miracles or are just ready to throw money against the wall. It would be good to be ready to measure the returns, as that is the kind of client Web Talent Marketing would want to work with. They like to see success in their client base.

We needed help improving our online sales both organically and through digital ads.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Web Talent Marketing supports us in digital marketing and manages our search PPC. They also manage re-marketing and social ads. The team consults with us on which campaigns we should run and they conduct competitive keyword analysis. Then, oversee the campaigns on Google Ads and Bing.

The second area they work with us on is SEO consulting. Web Talent Marketing does complete audits of our site and its metadata so we’re optimized for search. The team also does a lot of keyword research and they look at what people are searching for when they come to our website. Additionally, they do content research and content audits, as well as content writing.

The team does do competitive research for us. They look at the digital presences of our competitors and learn what advertising programs they’re running. The team sees how their sites compare to ours. Finally, they help us with SEO tasks in relation to our CMS migration. Additionally, they help our entire organization in terms of driving traffic to our website. The team also engages with our call center management.

We have an account manager and 4–5 other people working on our account.

I saw a Web Talent Marketing employee give a speech at a conference. At the time, our CTO wanted us to move to a new vendor in a very short time frame. We decided to do an RFP process with Web Talent Marketing. What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

It’s been a very successful partnership. We’ve averaged 26% increase YoY in our digital advertising profitability. In 2020, we saw a 42% increase in our PPC profitability; that increase came from an increase in sales and cost control.

We were able to achieve 4.36 ROI in our campaigns with them. We’ve been very happy with those results. The team is always making sure our accounts are optimized and they test different things. In terms of SEO, it’s a great partnership. Together, we won an award in 2018 from eTail for top website optimization. We’ve seen a 4.2 percent increase in our conversion for organic traffic last year.

In terms of sales from organic traffic, we saw an increase of 55%. A lot of that growth comes from the work that we’re doing as it relates to printing out the right content, answering the questions that people are asking, and structuring the pages properly.

How did Web Talent Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?

Over time, we’ve figured out a great rhythm. We meet on a weekly basis with members of our team to talk about how the campaigns and different projects are doing. We use Google Analytics to share reports and Data Studio to share analytics. We also update ongoing status updates.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Web Talent Marketing has taken time to understand our business. It’s not just about managing the account; they actually help us manage our business.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We had some earlier miscommunications early on but they’ve since rectified that. They took responsibility for the errors and made sure they were fixing things right away. Almost everything that I talk to them about gets addressed quickly.

My advice is to share as much information with them as possible. They’re good at processing information and synthesizing it into strategies that make sense. We’ve found that when we shared our overall business numbers, they get involved. Sharing information is going to strengthen your partnership overall.

I’ve been working with the National Notary Association for 10 years. We’re one of the nation’s leading notary educators. Any individual in the country who wants to become a notary can get their training, education, supplies, and everything they need from our company.

When we started working with Web Talent, I was the social media manager. I am now the senior manager for all of our paid digital media. I manage all of our paid advertising, which includes Google, Bing, social media platforms, Hulu, and others.

What challenge were you trying to address with Web Talent Marketing?

We needed help with digital marketing. We wanted to be at the top of all search results on both Google and Bing, but optimizing our website was challenging. We also wanted to drive as much revenue as we could from the web and make it our primary revenue earner.

Our other goal was to get a good group of notaries on our page to build a peer-to-peer community of people helping each other. We wanted to let people know that our content was valuable not only to our social media audience but also to people looking for this information on search engines.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Web Talent Marketing has worked with us very closely. They helped us optimize our website. Once that was done, they began implementing and managing our SEO and PPC efforts.

They helped me start our social media program and continue to help me curate posts. Their team puts the best information out there that’s going to get the most engagement and traffic to our website. We’ve worked on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and Google+, when it was still up. 

In the middle of the pandemic, we realized that a lot of the traffic coming to our website was people who were just looking for information. People weren’t ready to buy or spend any money, so we had to shift. We had to lower our paid search bids because all of the traffic wasn’t converting. By the end of the summer, we refocused on PPC because we saw actions going back up. Web Talent Marketing has been really crucial in timing all of that with us. They’ve helped us to raise all of our bids and get us back on top of all paid and organic search results. 

Their team has done a lot of research for us and provided great industry insights. They look at our Google Analytics to see what people are searching on Google or Bing when they want to become a notary, or if they are interested in finding someone who can help them become one. They help us write content for our blogs to answer those questions. They also help us with the video content for our YouTube channel. We take the written content and transform it into videos. We’re getting many usages out of that one piece of content.

We work full-time with at least six team members at any given moment. Besides Andy (Account Manager), they also pull in other members here and there when needed.

How did you come to work with Web Talent Marketing?

One of our marketing executives met Web Talent Marketing’s co-owner and CEO at a conference. He loved his presentation about digital marketing and SEO. They connected after the conference, and that’s when the partnership started.

How much have you invested with them?

We have an agency retainer with them, and we also pay a management fee based on how much we spend on our paid search program for our PPC campaigns. To date, our management fee is $1,088,789.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Web Talent Marketing in 2013, and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

It’s been amazing working with them — they’ve had a big impact on our organization. One of their major successes is being able to pivot what we need to. I’ve been in this position at the National Notary Association for two years now, and working with them has been the best. Since 2013, our revenue earned from paid Google and Bing search advertising has grown by 346%. The first year we worked together, our paid search program made $2.2 million in revenue. Last year, it made $9.8 million. 

The performance of the campaigns we have with Web Talent Marketing has been exemplary. We’ve increased our revenue earned year-to-date from just organic search by 75%. This year alone, we’ve been making over $1 million a month on organic search results of people looking for how to become a notary, how to find notary supplies, how to stay out of trouble as a notary, how to avoid litigation, and anything on how to perform their duties to the best of their ability.

We’ve seen another major increase in our paid search advertising. Back in 2017, we made over $4.8 million in revenue. By the end of this month — in the first quarter of 2021 — we will be surpassing that amount because of the work we’ve done with Web Talent Marketing.

We won the eTail Best-In-Search award due to the work that we did with Web Talent Marketing. It’s a highly recognized award in the digital marketing industry. The content and website search optimization that they did is what drove the board to declare us as the winner. 

The research that they’ve done for us and the content they’ve helped us create has bumped us all the way up to the first page on Google Search. They’ve also had a major impact on our video campaigns and YouTube Channel as well. Now, we are seeing increases in our YouTube traffic and revenue because of the video content that they created. Google recognizes us as the best content source for people looking for our services.

How did Web Talent Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?

Web Talent Marketing’s project management skills are amazing. We have a group set up to communicate through Slack. We also use emails and phone calls. They schedule weekly meetings with us. I meet with them every Monday, our communication group meets with them every Tuesday, and we have a group meeting between multiple departments every Wednesday. We have a lot of different touchpoints with them, and they are always flexible. Their team is always willing to move their schedule around to meet our needs. 

They are a master at keeping records and collecting data, as well as presenting and analyzing that data. Andy is great at coordinating all of the different moving parts within their team and ours.

What did you find most impressive about them? 

Web Talent Marketing has been with us every step of the way. They’ve helped us figure out what the trends are in the industry or in search results, where to increase spend, and where to decrease spend. This has been the best agency relationship that the National Notary Association has ever had. 

They’re always available to answer our questions and provide us with detailed insight on how our marketing campaigns and websites can perform better. They’ve become experts in our industry, and they express the same interest and investment as we do. I can speak for myself and all of my colleagues when I say that they are more than just an agency or a partner — they’ve really become a family. It has been a great partnership. They’ve really helped us.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Advertising and organic search are Web Talent Marketing’s strong suit. They’ve given us a lot of great recommendations, and oftentimes, we were not ready to receive them. That’s from our side, but it might reflect poorly on them because the results of that campaign did not look great, or the recommendation might have not worked out. However, we’ve really ironed all of that out.

For instance, Amazon has been one of the key channels that we’ve been trying to grow on. We haven’t been able to get there because of the different barriers of entry on our end. However, that is something that Web Talent Marketing has been pushing and recommending for a few years now. We are going to try to turn that around this year — we feel very confident that we are ready now. We are at a place in which we can match up with where Web Talent Marketing wants us to be, and we can take it to the next level. 

Any advice for potential customers?

Trust them — let them get their ideas out there, and let them fail. They have many creative approaches that a lot of other agencies might not have the bravery to take. Their creativity and approach work because they know the data. They’ve analyzed, collected, and looked it over and over again. They have proven results.

We’ve probably done everything that they’ve recommended. No matter how solid the idea is, or how far off it is — we’ve done it. I guarantee that if they’re pitching an idea to you, that is something that they’ve already done with us, and it has worked successfully. Just listen to their ideas.
