We partnered with Wow Labz on two major projects, and they exceeded our expectations on both.

The first project involved modernizing our litigation application workflow. Wow Labz took our existing system and transformed it into a cutting-edge platform with custom features that perfectly fit our lawyers' needs. They worked closely with our IT and litigation teams, going through multiple iterations, design phases, development and testing to deliver a user-friendly and efficient product.

The second project was the development of a Legal Register Tool, which allows us to compile and provide clients access to all relevant laws applicable to them. Wow Labs designed and built this tool to our specifications, integrating advanced AI conversational capabilities using OpenAI's architecture. We needed to find a company with blockchain technology experience that could develop a fully-functioning cryptocurrency exchange platform.  

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Wow Blockchain Labz is developing our cryptocurrency exchange platform on Flutter using the documentation we provided. They've already created the design, but we're still in production because of the changing regulatory environment in India. Currently, we're discussing adding additional features and learning how to deal with market conditions. We already have several APIs integrated into the platform. We're also working on setting up the application to work on AWS. 

After downloading the application, which works on iOS and Android devices, users can load money into their wallets through their bank accounts. Once they have that money available, they can purchase cryptocurrency; there is a buy and sell option. Users can also store their cryptocurrency on the platform using a wallet service, which is supported by a third-party service provider. 

What is the team composition?

We've worked with 10 teammates: a senior and a junior designer, a senior architect, a junior and a senior backend developer, two frontend developers, a tester, and a DevOps engineer. 

How did you come to work with Wow Blockchain Labz?

We found Wow Blockchain Labz during an Internet search. We contacted three other companies we found on Clutch, but Wow Blockchain Labz provided the most competitive proposal.

Our ongoing engagement began in August 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We changed the scope of the project several times, but Wow Blockchain Labz accommodated those changes; their team was understanding and empathetic. Working with their team is a pleasure. They are technically sound — they've delivered our application despite our project changes. 

I'm more than satisfied with Wow Blockchain Labz's work. The company's CEO has worked closely with us, answering our questions about the market. I appreciate that they've supported us by providing good cost figures. We have an excellent relationship with them. 

How did Wow Blockchain Labz perform from a project management standpoint?

We use Slack for most communication but also have Skype and Google Meet meetings to discuss the projects. Communication between our teams is great — they're available whenever we need them. Their pricing is very good, and they're open to discussions about costs. 

The project delay was caused by changes we requested. We wanted to use a free enterprise API for our project and had to persuade Wow Blockchain Labz to integrate it. We completely changed the scope and direction of the project. After several months, we realized the API wasn't working for us, and we had to revert back to our original plan. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their client-first approach was a pleasant surprise. We changed our scope of work several times, and any other company wouldn't have dealt well with those changes. However, Wow Blockchain Labz understood the situation and why we were making our changes — they put our needs above their own. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, everything went well.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I'd suggest getting the project scope and deliverables communicated clearly to Wow Blockchain Labz. Their team is flexible, but customers shouldn't take advantage of their flexibility.

I’m the founder and director of Cutting Chai Content, a global research and documentation agency.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Wow Labz?

In mid-2020, we encountered a problem with our field processes. The problem was largely related to our agents having to work under pandemic circumstances. We decided to build an app to solve the problem.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We gave Wow Labz a one-page brief on what we were looking for, and they just ran with it. They showed us what our imagined solution would look like, and they had a pretty good shot at it from day one. We collaborated with them closely in order to stay aligned on the problem at hand.

The key deliverable is a mobile app that our internal teams can use around the world. The app is supported by an admin web portal. The current version is just for iOS, but there are iterations in the works for an Android version as well.

We’re very particular about how the app looks, and we have an in-house design and content team. We had specifics in terms of branding, and we supplied the logo, color scheme, fonts, and so on, along with the justifications for all of those things. We gave Wow Labz very specific details and requested an intuitive design that could be used without requiring too much explaining. They built around and for that need, and we’ve never had to correct them.

They’ve delivered the first version of the app. We’re currently working on the second version, which will be launched globally to businesses and independent users outside of our company.
 
What is the team composition?

They have a well-oiled machine supporting and assisting us. We work with Amit (Founder & CEO), who’s become very close to us as a result of this process. They also have a project manager and a project lead, along with a host of expert developers and designers. 

How did you come to work with Wow Labz?

We’d worked with a US-based development company with an Indian footprint. We went through one iteration of a separate app with that company, and the current solution came to the fore. However, that company was not able to execute what we were looking for. We became really sensitized to the fact that we needed to do our research. We weren’t in a hurry, so we searched across the internet and our network.

We reached out to 3–5 other firms, and what we liked about Wow Labz was the experience they brought. Also, they were a company that reflected our spirit. We’re an India-based company with a global footprint, and they seemed really brave, just like us.

We had an initial call with Amit, and he seemed to get us and what we were trying to do. He had a can-do spirit. Wow Labz wanted to innovate and be challenged, and they weren’t afraid to say that it was going to be a long, iterative process. We started the project just a week after our first discussions.

How much have you invested with them?

Our operations lead would have a better idea of this, but I estimate the cost at this point to be around $75,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Wow Labz in July 2020, and it’s ongoing. We’ve signed on to collaborate with Wow Labz in the long term.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Once it became clear that the app could have a bigger footprint, we continued the collaboration with Wow Labz to see how it could work in the real world. It’s gone from a small in-house solution to something that has big potential, which we didn’t expect. Wow Labz backs our solution, which is really nice.

I don’t think there’s ever been a time when Wow Labz didn’t execute on our exact brief in terms of the look and feel of the app. They’ve provided a lot of positive enhancements for us, and that is due to the fact that they’re the experts in this area. A lot of us can come up with interesting, creative solutions, but we don’t all have the expertise to implement them. We certainly knew what we wanted, but Wow Labz made sure that that actually reflected in the app, instead of being a figment of our imagination.

Testers from around the world have provided feedback over the last few weeks. Wow Labz is collating every single bit of feedback. It’s caught me by surprise that another company cares as much as we do.
  
How did Wow Labz perform from a project management standpoint?

Some of the developers and designers have been really loyal to our project. Despite their various commitments on other projects at Wow Labz, they continue to donate their time to do this for us. They’re a well-spirited team, and they’re really hands-on across the board. Amit is constantly checking in with us. He wants to make sure that his teams are aligning internally, but also in the way in which we should be collaborating as teammates.

We’ve had a feedback round with one of their developers. We’re very particular about text, and we went message by message on that call. It was interesting to me that the developer had understood our style and was flagging messages that didn’t fit it. They were very thorough. We made it clear how we wanted to do it, and they did it like that.

During our initial call with Amit, he seemed able to conceptualize the timeline. We got the sense that they’d done this before and were really serious about it. He was very good at estimating things for us. Sure enough, the project fit the outline he made really nicely.

The engagement has worked like clockwork. We would’ve probably walked away from the collaboration early on if it hadn’t. Everything has been timely and prompt. Never once have I heard Wow Labz say that they didn’t have the time for an extra request that we had. They find the time and change the timeline to reflect the addition. They have a very can-do attitude, and their project management has resonated with us.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We went through a design phase with one other agency. What Wow Labz does really well is actually owning the project. They’ve had developers who didn’t want to leave the project, and that’s really quite phenomenal.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We begged and pleaded with the previous agency to take on our creative idea for a month, and we had radio silence from them for most of that time. They just didn’t care about it.

That’s where we were coming from. Then, we got Wow Labz, and they were so enthusiastic and eager to figure our idea out. We’ve really had no drama. It’s been totally seamless.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

One thing that really helps — and that they’ve commented on with us — is the clarity of the brief. We were very clear on what we wanted, and we were mindful of what we wanted the app to look and sound like. They had a thorough vision from us to work with. 

Being in the business of working with client briefs, we get how important that is. I don’t think that this applies to just Wow Labz. It’s common sense that if a client provides a clear brief, the people working on it won’t just deliver, but excel and surpass it. Even when there were questions about the brief, they were very quick about them.

We are still in work under process. Where with the help of wowlabz we got an prototype of the application and with the help of that we were able to crack couple of investments. Looking forward for more best outcomes in the future.

The team assigned to us was so compatible that it was very easy to reach out to them and get starting the work. Also the best part of the team is that they give out the best possible solutions and not only that they provide us the other ideas in which way this project can be done better. And the promise was kept all the time whenever there was any deadline given, it was completed on time.

The most impressive which made me amaze that the team this company has. Not only the CEO also the other team members are so dedicated and the knowledge they have in every aspect/field. We’re a global brewery. We’ve been in business for many decades, and we have close to 500 brands across the world. I’m a manager in the organization—a part of the analytics team.

What challenge were you trying to address with Wow Labz?

We had an internal analytics solution for which we wanted to create a web version. It would provide a simple interface for analytics for our global VPs spread across the world.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Wow Labz learned our business requirements and what the problem we were trying to solve was. Based on that, they abridged the analytics solution into a simplified web interface for our top leadership, which they designed and developed. The backend is Python and the frontend is React. The original solution was based on Microsoft Excel.

What is the team composition?

There were 8–10 people from Wow Labz working on the app. We communicated with a project manager, a resource from the design team, and a resource from the development team. Their CEO was involved in the initial discussions.

How did you come to work with Wow Labz?

We had a previous engagement with them. They were initially found by one of our directors at a conference.

How much have you invested with them?

The total cost was $80,000–120,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The initial discussions took place in December 2019, and we kicked off the work in January 2020. The first version of the app went live in late-March 2020, and we worked on enhancements for two more months. The second go-live was in late-May or early-June 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I might have more concrete metrics at the end of 2020. In terms of adoption, we were expecting 4–6 of our global leaders to use the app, but we now have 25–30 spread across the globe. Those numbers are quite good, given that the app was only made for our senior leadership, and not for the masses.

How did Wow Labz perform from a project management standpoint?

They always took ownership of and met the deadlines they committed to. We wanted the application to be done in three months no matter what, which was quite a challenging task given the volume of work. We knew that it was a risk, but Wow Labz signed up for it and delivered it on time. Other vendors I’ve worked with would deliver on time, but the quality wouldn’t be very good. Wow Labz did well in terms of timeliness and quality.

They were good in terms of communication, but they could’ve been a bit more proactive. They used project management tools internally, and our communication was more in the form of daily standups and weekly sprint delivery meetings.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The quality of what they delivered was remarkable given that we didn’t have a very clear requirements statement. Requirements evolved throughout the project, and Wow Labz was able to deliver a stable application despite that.

They showed great ownership. During the last two weeks, we had to pretty much put in 20 hours a day on both our sides, including on weekends. Wow Labz worked hard to finalize everything, and they showed a lot of commitment to making us successful.

The third aspect of their work was how quickly they were able to understand our business. They spent a lot of time with us upfront, which was more than what we wanted to give initially, but we came to appreciate their focus on making this a collaborative effort.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The communication could’ve been better from both sides. Apart from that, the design of the app was quite plain or vanilla. It didn’t have a wow factor. They could’ve made the application much fancier. The UX design is top-notch, though. There’s nothing else I could mention.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Clients should spend a lot of time providing them the required knowledge about the business and the bigger picture of what’s being built. Once that’s done, Wow Labz is smart enough to start talking the language and make value additions to what the client is trying to build.

We’ve had some trouble with changing requirements during development. It led to changing timelines. My advice is to make the requirements clear upfront.

What challenge were you trying to address with Wow Labz?

We had our first version of the app up and running. We wanted to build the next set of features and also fix a few existing bugs. We needed to collaborate with a company to get that done.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Wow Labz redeveloped our app, working in React for the frontend and PHP for the backend. Additionally, their team worked on our database in MySQL. Since we had to build out new features, they had to work across these tech stacks. The app is a progressive web app (PWA) that works like a native application on mobile.

Our teams collaborated on the project, and I gave them requirements on a daily basis. Their team also provided user testing, going above and beyond our original scope of work. There were a few new bugs that came up and they helped correct them.

We worked with four members of the Wow Labz team, including a frontend developer, a PHP developer, a SQL developer, and a tester.

I heard about them from a common friend. I did my homework and figured out that the CEO understands what startups are looking for. He was really supportive.

Our engagement ran from November–December 2019.

It was a short engagement but they were very helpful. They didn’t stop at just getting it done, they got deeply involved. Their code is very stable and works well. I didn’t have to bring them back to them to fix any bugs because the testers did a great job.

How did Wow Labz perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management was handled on our end. Our teams initially agreed on the scope and timeline. We communicated on a daily basis, collaboration in an Excel sheet. I used to go to their office every 2-3 days.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Initially, the scope of work they estimated was around three weeks. It took a little longer because they didn’t expect the complexity of the code. They pushed their resources. I didn’t have to push them to get it done, they took all the initiatives themselves.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t have anything for them to improve.

Know your product well before you reach out to them. If you don’t talk to Amit (Founder, Wow Labz) who is really experienced. He can help you design your product, ask the right business questions, and then take it forward.

We did manual testing, and they also had testers to test the apps.

The founder of Wow Labz and I were college mates. I was the CTO at Wow Labz and worked with them for over a year. I knew the team well and knew what I was getting into, which is the reason I chose to work with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from summer until the fall of 2016. It lasted 3–4 months.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

It got us a lot more business initially. We worked with them because we needed a quick go-to-market strategy, and we knew it would take at least a month to hire a team to build the app. We wanted a quick launch time so this was one of the best ways to do it.

How did Wow Labz perform from a project management standpoint?

Adherence to timelines and responsiveness were always good. This was a new domain altogether. IoT is not something Wow Labz had done before, and not a lot of companies know the nuances of creating a good IoT-based mobile app. There was a bit of learning, but they picked it up quickly. They met our expectations.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They are a great design firm with a mature development team. It’s easy to explain what you want. It’s sometimes better to interact with the technical team directly rather than having a project manager in between. They have the ability to do that.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there’s nothing I can think of.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

What you want as an outcome should be clear in your head. Wow Labz helps in ideation as well, but it’s best done by the client.
