What challenge were you trying to address with VIVIDSITES?

I was working with a different company for SEO, and I decided I wanted the website and SEO to complement each other. That's when I looked to move both services under one house.

What was the scope of their involvement?

VIVIDSITES handled our web development and SEO. They built the website from scratch and focused on implementing a search function. That function was really important for commercial real estate and we needed it to work intuitively.

I worked with Heather (Project Manager), David (CEO), and a website coder.

I found them through Google, and I liked that they seemed to have a good understanding of some of the functionalities that we needed.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent roughly between $30,000–$40,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from August 2017–August 2018.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We primarily used Google Analytics to monitor the metrics and a website called Lucky Orange, which currently provides me with daily updates on how our website is doing numbers-wise.

How did VIVIDSITES perform from a project management standpoint?

They were really willing to dive in and take bits and pieces of information from our team. VIVIDSITES was also very patient and brought a lot to the table — there were a lot of in-person meetings, as well as back and forth emails and phone calls. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

We were impressed with their communication and their responsiveness. Whenever we had an issue or a new idea, we’ll just email them and they’ll be right on it. Even after finishing the website three years ago, they would still come to me to offer further optimization for the features on our website.

Are there any areas they could improve?

When we first started, I wasn’t really happy with the person handling my accounts, but then they switched me with someone else, and it’s been amazing since then. They also sent me narrative monthly reports, so it wasn’t just copied and pasted data.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I would say to have examples of websites that you like, and examples of functionalities that you would like to implement because it’s going to be really helpful, especially if you’re building something from scratch.

Bonhomme Church is the oldest Presbyterian church west of the Mississippi River, having been founded in 1816. At the time of working with VividSites, I was the Communications and Marketing Specialist.

For what projects/services did your company hire VIVIDSITES, and what were your goals?

Bonhomme engaged VividSites in the months leading up to its bicentennial to rebrand the church and then assist us in launching a new website. Our goals were to create a brand and logo that signified the goals of the church moving forward and then provide a user-friendly web experience to both our church members, preschool families, and those seeking a new church.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

David at VividSites is a church member who understood the intricacies of our church culture and how we wanted to share our story of growing disciples of Jesus to both internal and external audiences. He and his team really listened to us and carefully crafted a new logo, brand story and then launched a website on a church-based website platform that was challenging and limited.

At the beginning of the process I had yet to be hired, so I cannot speak to the development of our new logo and brand graphics. However, the team at VividSites did an excellent job working within the ShareFaith website template [Word Press platform] to provide us with the best product we could develop. They worked with us on content development, user interface, creation of forms and layout. And, once the website was launched, developed the SEO strategy.

Our team's main contact was David Black, the current User Experience Director. When working on the details of the website, we did occasionally work with other members of the team, but David was our liaison.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Once the new logo was developed, it was unanimously approved by the church leads [approximately 12 individuals] with very little edits. This only occurred because the team at VividSites so carefully and thoughtfully developed a logo with Bonhomme's history--and future-- in mind. Our website anecdotally was welcomed with rave review by our church family. Visits and users increased drastically. However, I am no longer at the position and therefore cannot access the data to support it.

Honesty and relational. I feel as though the team listened. They pushed us to make good decisions and offered solutions we hadn't considered. They worked with a very aggressive timeline and were only hindered by our inability to often meet their deadlines.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Listening and working within our church budget restraints as well as the ShareFaith platform. I'd say they were very resourceful.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Not at this time.

I am the owner of a small computer consulting company.

We hired vivid sites to create a custom written backup notification website.

What were your goals for this project?

The main goal was for all of our client backups to send their backup notifications to 1 mailbox, then send 1 single, easy to read e-mail to each of the clients. The system also sends me or any other admin an e-mail that contains the status of all the backups on 1 report. Sounds easy right? This is actually quite a complicated process because of all the factors involved.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We reviewed proposals from several vendors in the St. Louis area. But the choice was easy when we sat down with Dave and his team. They just have a relaxed work environment that made us feel comfortable when we met at the vivid sites office. They also, took the time to really understand what ALL of our needs were before we left the office.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

Vivid sites created a front end website that me and my team can interact with to add servers into the system. This websites lets us manage every aspect of the available configuration/settings and is only 1 small part of the project. Behind the shiny web interface is the back end services that is really making everything happen.

The system takes in about 10 different backup report (all a different format of course) and creates, 1 standard, easy to read report and emails the report to any client listed. It also sends us admins 1 e-mail with all the client reports on 1 report.

Before: Hours every week reviewing different report. After: A quick glance tells me which client backup failed last night. It also reports on non reporting backups. If no e-mail was received from a client backup, we are notified of that as well. Perfect system for our needs, or any other small IT firm that manages client backup reports.

What was the team composition?

We had 1 project manager that we worked with. I am sure others on the vivid sites team probably worked on this project, but we only had to interact with our project manager. That made it simple and easy for us. Dave Black, the owner also checked in with us from time to time to make sure everything was running smooth and that we were happy.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The best way I can put this is: We were spending so much time reviewing backup reports and it was such a bad process for us that sometimes, they would not get reviewed.

As the business owner, this was simply unacceptable. This project, although not quick and easy, was one of the best things I have done for my business in recent years. I honestly wish I could go back in time and do this project 10 years ago! It's my own fault for putting it off for so long.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

I was impressed with my project managers knowledge and understanding of what needed to happen. We kept throwing new info and new requests at him and he was always organized. They must used some organizational tool, or website that maybe they created or something. Not sure, but they were on top of everything we needed at all times.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Working with our project manager, the business owner and everyone we met at vivid sites was a relaxing experience. This is not always the case with other vendors I have worked with in the past.

These days, it seems everyone is always busy and stressed. That comes out in daily interactions with people you talk to every day. Not vivid sites! These guys must do yoga or something, they were always calm, cool and calibrated. This level of comfort probably comes from knowing your stuff!

Are there any areas for improvement?

Since my project went so smooth and because we are so happy with the experience and the end result (which we use every single day!), I do not have any suggestions, except, maybe: Don't change a thing!

What were your goals for this project?

At the time, we were in dire need of a website that would not only function in a simplistic, user friendly way for "both" my commercial & residential customers but, I also needed this website to drive in more business in a way that my competition would no longer be competition! I needed to "Blow them out of the water!" with this web project. It needed to look different, feel different and operate differently than everyone else's.

I also wanted our website to be so impressive and in multiple ways, that it would be so remarkably unforgettable to the point, that when my clients needed any of "Our Industries" services that they simply could not think of any other place to go! Then, to be so infectious that they would naturally spread the word of our company and our website, by mouth to everyone that they knew.

We also needed our website to appeal and function in the same way to the "Workers" of our industry which, in this case they would be our customer/client as well. This was in a lot of ways, just as important as our traditional type of customer (mentioned above). Because, now we would have "both" the workers of our industry spreading the "Buzz" about us in the same way as our typical clients.

The goal with the "Workers" spreading the word and talking about us would ultimately lead to the larger "Commercial Projects". Which also later proved to be successful and was easily tracked back to their constant & continuous use of our website!

So, those were our goals along with the proper representation of "all" our products and services, to appeal to all our different types of clients in a highly functional-complex, eye-catching, intelligently dazzling, unforgettable design that sublimely captivates and captures the minds of each and every user to the point that they never even think of going anywhere else.....while still vitally appearing and functioning in the utmost simplistic way for the end-user, our clients.
