Velocity has stayed on budget and met deadlines. We mainly communicate via Google Docs and Google Meet.

We’re impressed with how well Velocity knows the PPC business. Additionally, the team is very creative in coming up with unique ways to get us to the top of search results.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

It's been a great experience so far. We've seen great results because Velocity can directly target where we're looking to market. We don't spend as much money on properties that we wouldn't be interested in. Moreover, our CPC has decreased month over month, making us more efficient. Our cost per closed contract has also trended down, which is the goal.

How did Velocity perform from a project management standpoint?

The team stays on budget and meets deadlines. We speak with Velocity every two weeks through Google Meet. We also communicate via Slack and email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Velocity is knowledgeable about the entire process. The team is clear and concise; they manage things well. Velocity is organized and covers all aspects of what we're looking for in a marketing partner.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There's nothing I can think of.

Reach out to John. The team communicates really well. Once you have the opportunity to sit down and do an onboarding phone call with them, you'll be able to express your needs. Velocity can help you figure out what you need and what would be the best benefit for your business.

We needed help to handle our Google Ads account and identify customers actively seeking treatment for toenail fungus.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Velocity managed our Google Ads campaigns. The team brought legacy information from our previous campaigns and analyzed their data, keywords, and the market. Velocity spent about three weeks setting up our Google Ads campaigns and creating creative assets. The team also worked on our website because it wasn't tracking data and conversions correctly.

We met John, who came fully prepared for the interview with expectations, KPIs, and a strategy he thought would work for us.

We worked with Velocity from April–June 2024.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We were gaining traction and seeing improvements in our Google Ads campaigns. Velocity showed good insights along the way; however, our system couldn't track some of the Google tags on our website because of how it was set up, and we needed to make some changes. We had to pivot and move in a different direction to update our website. We decided to pull the plug and end our engagement with Velocity to revamp our site and relaunch it at the end of July 2024. Our goal was to decrease our cost per acquisition to $95, but we didn't achieve it since we stayed in the $140 range.

How did Velocity perform from a project management standpoint?

Velocity's response to feedback was always positive. However, the team slipped a little in execution time, but there wasn't a major delay. Velocity was supposed to set up and run campaigns in two weeks, but it took three weeks. Velocity needed more time to digest, analyze, and develop some ads and the creatives around them, but the team communicated expectations clearly.
Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

John was knowledgeable and understood how to generate leads and traffic. He had good analytics skills and reviewed the analytics with us every week or two, making adjustments as needed.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Velocity's analytics and explanations impressed me the most. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Although John was very hands-on in getting new clients, we experienced a language barrier with his international team members. However, John did his best to ensure clear and concise communication. We didn't achieve the results we wanted, although I think Velocity could've achieved them if we had more time. 

We didn't have the required configuration on our website and the ability to track conversions the entire way through the funnel. Therefore, we couldn’t provide the correct feedback. Google wasn't registering conversions the way it should have been. We weren't IT experts and were relying on someone else. Velocity was flying a little blind, but they would have gotten the results we wanted if we had more time.

They demonstrated knowledge and intuition even before the contract was finalized, and maintained realistic and direct communication throughout. Items were delivered on time, and their responsiveness to our needs ensured that we stayed on track throughout the project.

While we were eager to try new strategies, it would have been helpful if they had emphasized the benefits of the other marketing approaches discussed during the discovery phase. Given their understanding of the challenges in the recruiting and staffing industry, a stronger case for these alternatives could have boosted our confidence in adjusting our initial focus.

I'm the marketing manager at a cannabis equipment manufacturing company. I've been with the company for about five months.

We needed support managing our PPC campaigns with the goal of increasing sales and website traffic. We offer moderate-priced products that cost around $1,000 and other more expensive products that cost up to $40,000, which we know are hard to generate sales for. Another goal was to generate leads and get users to visit our site.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Velocity offers PPC management services for our company. The team is responsible for creating our Google Ads campaigns, including search, performance, and shopping campaigns. The team also helps us do research to potentially run LinkedIn and Facebook advertising. The team offers advice and manages our current running campaigns. 

When we first started working with Velocity, we were new in PPC. The team gave us the requirements to set up campaigns. We filled in the documentation with what we think are the most successful search terms for us and content we thought would be helpful, including messaging, images, and information about our competitors. Velocity has analyzed all the data we provided and advised us on opportunities within our ideas and framework. 

We do this process often, and every few months, we refresh our search terms. Velocity stays active in our account and continually advises when we need to make improvements or update copy, imagery, or display ads. Velocity offers ideas for new campaigns when Google has new features; for instance, the team has ensured we know that Google campaigns can include GIF images.

I mainly work with John (Founder). When we have a question that another teammate can offer better advice, John works with them and gets back to us. We've worked with other teammates who have provided advice along the way.

The latest initiative we've started will cost $500. Overall, we've spent less than $10,000. Our marketing campaign budget is around $2,000 monthly.

We've worked with Velocity for ten months.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Since we started working with Velocity, we've seen Google Ads move from the 20 to the second source of our web traffic. I have eight years of experience working with PPC companies, and I haven't seen paid ads have a longer engagement time than organic ads. Users coming from paid ads spend over 20 seconds more on our site, which is significant. Additionally, we've made our ROI tenfold.

How did Velocity perform from a project management standpoint?
Velocity has good communication via Google Meet and email. The team delivers our requests on time or before deadlines.
Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

John has gone above and beyond to educate me regarding Google Ads. Even if my questions seem obvious, he never makes me feel bad about them and offers direct advice. He goes the extra mile in researching or reaching out to his contacts to answer our inquiries. 

Navigating PPC ads can be difficult in the cannabis sector, and John has done a wonderful job keeping us in the safe zone and avoiding restraints on our account. We work in a fine line since we sell cannabis equipment, and John has helped us walk that fine line. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Velocity is on top of work and proposes new ideas, communicating properly. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I haven't noticed any areas for improvement in Velocity's work.

I recommend following Velocity's advice and trying their suggestions. The team doesn't propose things they don't think will succeed. Ask Velocity questions about aspects you don't know and dive into their work. For instance, I was curious about how conversions are tracked, and the team was happy to answer my question immediately.

Since subcontracting our client's PPC ad program to Velocity for growth and management, we have seen impressive increases in ROAS. The added bandwidth Velocity provides our team from this relationship allows us to be more strategic, proactive, and exploratory in our PPC strategy, and this consistently shows in key metrics month over month.

John's organization (taking notes of everything we were discussing, setting the next steps and following up with them). Including transparency of what was possible to do verus not possible, considering our context as a bootstrapped startup.

Set a better foundation before actually spending money on ads and focus more on the niches than using broad terms. Mainly with a limited budget. In a startup, every dollar counts and based on the projections, we were optimistic and invested for 3 months that we would have a very good amount of qualified leads.
But I think it would be better if we spent this initial investment on our website, videos and other materials to support our sales team. And with this traction, we could allocate a new revenue slice to the online ads (instead of putting google ads as our "growth strategy" plan).

We went over our various customer segments and Velocity developed multiple landing pages, accordingly. They then set us up with Unbounced and Pipedrive, creating a coherent campaign that was extremely easy to utilize.

The PPC campaign continues to be extremely successful. The CPC has plummeted over the last couple of months and our second location is booming because of it. We really couldn't have done it without them.

The workflow has been great. Not only do we receive useful monthly updates, but they have also been extremely available on short notice to fix/change anything we need them to.

They're ability to bring down our CPC and how ready they are able to tweak our landing pages/settings when necessary.

For what projects/services did your company hire Velocity, and what were your goals?

We were looking to explore Google Ads as a channel to grow our business. Previously, 90% or so of our work was from word of mouth and networking. This works fine, but we were keen to find a more predictable channel that we could rely on to grow the business. The whole goal of the engagement was to see if we could generate enquiries online in a predictable and profitable way.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Velocity were recommended to me by a friend who's worked with John who owns the business before. After having an initial conversation, I felt confident that John understood what I was trying to accomplish and that he had the track record and skillset to give our project the greatest chance of success.

First we went through a discovery phase where Velocity understood our services, our positioning in the market, and the key sales messages that we wanted to convey to our market. From this, they then collaborated closely with us to design different landing pages that we could split test. They also wrote clear and compelling copy for these landing pages. They set up all of our Google ads campaigns from scratch, creating different campaigns and ad groups so that we can see what does and doesn't work. They've then continuously optimised the campaign to ensure we're receiving the highest quality traffic to our site that we can.

We work with John directly who was our primary point of contact, which keeps everything nice and easy to manage.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The landing pages they designed were professional and looked very slick. We were very impressed. The campaign has worked very well. Velocity worked with us to really help us understand the process, and we've started to receive some very high quality enquiries from the campaigns.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Excellent. We have a standing weekly meeting where we report on the progress of campaigns and brainstorm different tests that we can run. We also have a very open channel of communication via email. John is always incredibly responsive and is always on hand to answer any questions as and when they arise.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

John really spent the time to understand our positioning and to understand the pains, frustrations and desires of our target market. This has led to the whole marketing campaign being very focussed and effective.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Not so far. I've worked with other agencies before and Velocity stand head and shoulders above the rest. I've finally found an agency that I feel cares about our success.
