Their responsiveness was great considering our tight timeline. They were adaptable when our needs changed and were always willing to provide proactive solutions.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We realized that next time we should stress the importance of responsiveness from the start and work with them to identify problem areas from the start. This is less so a criticism on them but more an improvement we'd like to make to our internal process when partnering with development agencies.

The cloud-based software allows property managers to list vacant properties on their website with one click, capture pre-screening information from prospective tenants, and manage leads step-by-step through the screening process.

Once a qualified tenant is selected, they can manage them seamlessly inside the platform throughout the tenancy term. Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

TechExtensor has been our technology partner for the last 12 months. Developing a platform in a .Net backend + Flutter frontend, in an MS Azure could server. The team was very professional and assigned resources with the right level of expertise. They also had previous experience in real estate which allowed them to quickly understand our requirements and even provide recommendations to improve our solution.

They were very responsive and flexible, allowing us to accommodate changes throughout the development roadmap due to client feedback. As a startup that is constantly pivoting, this was really valuable. Scheduling, time zone and language differences were never a barrier. I would recommend them for rollouts of MVPs as they are practical and cost-effective, and they partner very well.

Project management was initiated with a very traditional waterfall approach that gradually migrated to a more agile version. The PM is actively engaged through Slack, making communication timely. They accommodated weekly touchpoints to assess progress. We had to provide tools like Notion to track service requests and a PPT template to simplify the project reporting method. I would have appreciated a more structured approach to project management with an integrated solution to track service requests, requirements, change orders and status updates. This created some miscommunication issues, and delays.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Did Well:

1. Provided a competitive bid that met our requirements and budget expectations.
2. Assigned a dedicated team with the appropriate skills and capacity to work on the project.
3. Assisted with scoping the project to make sure it fit our needs and budget.
4. Great communication and availability for ongoing touchpoints.
5. Adapted their project management approach to meet our needs. Scheduled weekly touchpoints, and adopted standard templates for status reporting and change requests.
6. Flexible in fulfilling requirements that came after the reviews, in many instances, not charging additional effort to complete these.
7. Brought good ideas to the table based on work done elsewhere so that we improve our product.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Could Have Been Better:

1. Significant delays in delivery due to QA issues and lack of attention to detail during the internal reviews. Better QA and attention to detail could significantly improve their quality of service.
2. Better tools and approach to project management. Expectations throughout the project could have been better managed to ensure that the team provided adequate requirements and feedback. Managing expectations around timelines and delays could have been better communicated.
3. Organization and structure of the code, and documentation were provided but due to its setup of it, there were several performance issues that were caught by other technical resources working on adjacent developments.

Our main point of contact was the project manager, but the lead developer and customer success team also joined calls more often than not.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

After a few months of development time (determined more by available budget and team resources on our side than on the developer's side) we received a fully functional MVP with a freshly designed front end following our branding requests and an easy-to-use administrative backend that allow us full control over how each component of the app works.

We had weekly status calls and communicated questions/answers via WhatsApp, Upwork, and email. The team was very responsive across all three channels and made sure to communicate any questions, recommendations, or concerns in a timely manner to keep the project on schedule.

They did well in translating our rudimentary mockups and ambiguous requests into functioning workflows and components.

Before we started beta testing, there were some hardcoded elements that needed to be transitioned to editable components.

They Developed the a very robust website as well as built a bespoke video conferencing platform.

Initially I liaised with the owner, but once the project began most ongoing communication was between myself and a dedicated project manager who was excellent in going above and beyond to communicate each stage of the project and meet my needs. In total I worked directly as different times with a team of at least 5 individuals.`

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The platform was developed and launched on time and according to brief. However, I have continued to work with Techextensor to further develop and enhance the platform and work through new phased and upgraded deployments. The high standard to which they have delivered this project has outweighed my expectations and allowed me to take my business to new heights.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

I was assigned a dedicated project manager (Vimal) who made the entire process feel extremely relaxed. He was almost always accessible and able to answer any questions I had, able to explain every part of the process in great detail which allowed me full insight into every step of the project.

I've worked with many project managers in the past, mainly at UK agencies, but none have every come close to the level of commitment and dedication that has been shown towards my project as I have experienced from working with Vimal, he is my go to guy and always ensures that I am happy.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Sad to say, that I had initial reservations about working with an offshore company, especially as I have always worked with UK agencies, and worried that a possible language barrier would create communication difficulties.

However, communication has been seamless, their standard of work has been not only professional but also exceptional and they always meet every deadline time after time. What I have found particularly useful is their in depth knowledge on the latest development solutions and technologies which has allowed them to give me very accurate advice and informed suggestions.

Are there any areas for improvement?

None! I am thoroughly satisfied with their service. I am extremely fussy and expect very high standards of work. If Techextensor delivered anything less than this I would have stopped working with them months ago. They are very consistent.

I needed a partner that could dig into our backlog and bring concepts to life. They needed to be trustworthy in developing digital products.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They offer full-service development work, handling everything from UX design to development to user testing. The concept, wireframes, and requirements were determined by me, but they provided a full-scale operation. After they got into development with me, we also changed around my initial plan. They took the concept and brought designs together for a smoother development process. 

Their iOS and Android developers created mobile apps, and they had web engineers as well for our web dashboard. They built the whole system using Python and other technologies. The app focuses on solving problems within the pharmaceutical industry. We’re targeting large companies and third parties with this product, but the end-users will be individuals partaking in clinical trials.

I interfaced directly with the owner and two project managers. Outside of that, I know there was a team of about six developers.

One of our key metrics is patient engagement between the app and big pharma. We improved that by about 25%. Additionally, there was a 30% increase in appointment attendance. The app made appointments easy to make with notifications, videos, and other media. We centralized communication systems, making operations more efficient as well.  

How did Techextensor Private Limited perform from a project management standpoint?

Their team had structure, but I was able to contact whoever I needed when problems came up. They were fluid and agile in that sense. We appreciated how they were less hierarchical and willing to try different things. While we are in different time zones, we didn’t have much trouble. They would do a lot of work outside of their normal working hours to accommodate us. We have a great relationship. They use Skype often for communication, addressing all concerns.  

What did you find most impressive about them?

They did an amazing job of bringing our products to life in a short amount of time. When the products were developed, it didn’t end there. They were constantly testing to make sure that we had what we wanted. It was refreshing to see that they were heavily invested in the product. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

They do everything they can to provide the best service possible. This is nit-picky, but if they could tighten up their English language skills a little, that would be great.

Don’t underestimate the time that certain tasks take. Make sure that you set your own project timelines and requirements clearly from the start. That could be said for all development projects.
