We needed a complete brand transformation, including a modern logo, website, explainer video, and marketing materials that resonated with both young job seekers and corporate decision-makers. The brand had to be youthful yet professional, bridging the gap between these two distinct audiences.

Honestly, Silva Brand exceeded our expectations. If anything, we wish we had a larger budget to further expand on some of the ideas they proposed. Their creativity and strategic insight were invaluable, and we would gladly work with them again in the future.

Project Goals and New Website Requirements

Our organization seeks to solidify its established brand, validate our expertise in building science, mechanical, and structural engineering, and further engage those interested in our content. In addition, our new site should:

1. Address all the things we do not like about our current website.
2. Encourage traffic and bring increased exposure.
3. Improve the user experience for our Clients.
4. Update the aesthetics, consistent with our visual branding standards.
5. Include an engaging careers page that makes prospective applicants excited about working for us. Including a back end that makes it easy for them to apply and for us to manage all aspects of the recruitment process.
6. Offer Mobile and tablet friendly versions.
7. Be fully accessible and meet the requirements of the WCAG 2.0 Level A – AA guidelines without taking away from the overall website experience.
8. Make the site easy for a small in-house team to manage all aspects of updates going forward.

Scope of Work 

The following minimum scope of work items are to be included in the proposal. Please feel free to add any additional items or services that you recommend to the “Other Wishlist Items” section of your proposal and provide itemized pricing for each.

1. Brand Discovery  
   1. Internal Research: Review Pretium’s existing marketing materials (see partial list below).
   2. External Research: Conduct interviews with twenty (20) current or potential clients to determine how our target markets choose their building engineering firms.
   3. Workshop: Conduct a brand discovery workshop to share the results of the internal and external research completed and collaborate with key Pretium stakeholders on the overall vision for the website.
2. Website: Create a responsive, custom-designed website that meets the goals and requirements outlined within this RFP. This includes but is not limited to: 
   1. Website Copy: Using our existing copy as a strong starting point, edit the messaging to work with the new website and/or create new copy when necessary to achieve the overall website goals using a consistent voice/tone.
   2. SEO: Integrate SEO optimization into the development of the website.

Delivery of the completed website.

The team at Silva was always very responsive. As we approached the launch of the website we met almost weekly to review action items and go over the punchlist to make sure everyone on their team, and ours, was on target for our launch date.

They developed a deep understanding of our brand and culture and were able to communicate it back to us with clarity through both visuals and text incorporated into the new website.

The overall timeline for the project took longer than any of us anticipated. There was shared responsibility for this because at times we would be behind on delivering content, but there were definitely a few lulls where we were waiting for direction as well. In the end, we were more than happy to invest the additional time to do it right!

They work well from a project management perspective, as they can be quite flexible in terms of meeting our budget and timelines.

I would just say to communicate with them clearly and be open to their ideas. Silva Brand is very transparent so the more you stay in touch, the better the partnership will be.

I’m the CEO and partner of CCS INTERNATIONAL, INC., a cost and program management consulting company for construction projects. We work with owners, architects, and engineers on national and international construction projects, and we’re headquartered in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.

What challenge were you trying to address with Silva Brand?

We were looking to update our website. Another firm helped us with our rebranding back in 2014, but the way they built our website created certain limitations in our ability to make changes to it ourselves. Thus, we wanted to find a different firm that could help us redevelop our site in a way that we could have more control over it moving forward.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Silva Brand redeveloped and redesigned our website on WordPress, changing everything, including the format. The purpose of this site was to gain more attention from the construction market, so Silva Brand helped us change its imagery and add more details about our business and our team. They also added sections to showcase our current and past projects, as well as the history behind them.

What is the team composition?

Tom (Principal) was our main point of contact. Heather (Digital Project Manager) was in charge of the graphics, photography, and other visual assets. Additionally, George (Senior Strategist) set up the framework and other key elements for the website’s structure.

Around 3–4 other people from Silva Brand worked in the background during development. Although we didn't have direct contact with them,  they were present in some meetings.

How did you come to work with Silva Brand?

Silva Brand came highly recommended by a couple of people that we knew. After interviewing 3–4 firms, they were the ones that we went with.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent between $50,000–$60,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We reached out to Silva Brand at the beginning of January 2021 and started working together in mid-January 2021. The website went live in March 2022. Our goal was to finish everything by the end of 2021, but due to some issues we had from our side, the site didn't go live until March. Currently, they’re training us on how to use it; it was part of the agreement.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Although we don’t have any hard metrics because the site was just recently launched, we definitely saw some improvements in its look and functionality. The visual assets are much better now, and the site's quality overall is way better than before. Additionally, it is user-friendly and adapts very well to any device and screen size.

Furthermore, Our new site clearly showcases our services and lets people know that we’re not a small firm anymore. It also has links to our LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter accounts, which will help improve our user engagement.

How did Silva Brand perform from a project management standpoint?

Silva Brand’s project management was excellent, and they constantly kept us on task. They did the appropriate follow-ups with us, even when we fell behind. On those occasions, they were patient and moved forward in a very professional manner. 

Since we were dealing with COVID still during 2021, a lot of our meetings were via Zoom. During our brainstorming sessions, their entire team joined our Zoom calls. We also communicated via email to check in and schedule meetings, and we had a few phone calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Silva Brand’s ability to engage us and educate us on things we weren't aware of was impressive. We didn’t have control over our former site whatsoever, but they were very clear from the get-go that we would have full control of our website once complete.

Additionally, Silva Brand was very client-conscious and wanted to provide us with the best service possible. They understood our internal challenges, and still, they pushed us when needed, firmly but respectfully letting us know when things would be delayed if we didn’t move forward. Furthermore, they explained everything so that we clearly knew why we were doing what we were doing — I couldn't have asked for more.

Are there any areas they could improve?

On occasions, Silva Brand didn’t pick up on things that they should have, so a little more QA would have been great. For example, a couple of times, we noticed that some items were misplaced. However, those issues were addressed before launching the site, so we had no real problems with that.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Have an open dialogue and a clear understanding of what your expectations are. Silva Brand is great at providing insight into your requirements so that you can get a better sense of what you’re looking for. Ultimately, they’ll consider your requirement carefully and provide you with a tailored site.

What challenge were you trying to address with Silva Brand?

We needed a company that could help us with our rebranding efforts.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Silva Brand’s process was quite in-depth, and it's unlike what a lot of companies would do. We started the engagement with a three-day work session, where we went through several intensive exercises to find out what we liked and what our company really represented. This involved answering deep questions and going through our existing art, photos, and other materials. From this came out several versions of our logo, colors, imagery, verbiage, and keywords, which we used in our marketing initiatives as well.

We went on to a six-month process after this discovery phase. They delivered a big report containing the different options that we had for our branding and marketing materials. After that, they redesigned our website.

This whole process really made us think and dive into who we were and who we wanted to be as a company. It was an exhausting process because we really had to do the work, but it allowed everyone to participate and become part of our brand as a whole.

Aside from that, Silva Brand also helped us with a lot of after-effect work. They helped us with our offering memorandums, put together big packages for presentations to global investors and banks, and created marketing displays and listing agreements based on the branding materials they created for us.

We’ve received very positive feedback for our marketing and branding materials. We’ve received comments about how professional, classy, and straightforward they look. In fact, all of the investment banks and family offices that we run into on a regular basis are all complimentary of the product. They don’t guarantee us business, but it gets us in the door.

No, I have no complaints. Silva Brand was really reliable and timely, and they over-delivered on everything. They were fantastic.
