Shutter Sauce helped us to identify the key elements of our brand story, focusing on the compelling points. This involved a 2 hour discussion conducted virtually. Preparation for taping and coordination of production was conducted via email over the course of a few weeks. The video shoot, which included an extensive interview and capture of b-roll during an event, was conducted over the course of approximately 10 hours in one single workday.

The interview itself took approx. 3 hours. We supplied branding elements e.g. logos, brand animations, etc. and did deliver some archival footage from past events and screen shots of the online experience. Post production was completed in 3-4 weeks. The review process was simple and easy.

Clearly a small team, Shutter Sauce was highly invested in our project. It was a pleasure to work with a vendor who demonstrated as much excitement for our work as we did (if not more). This project was intended to help dig ourselves out of the hole that was created by extended pandemic shutdowns and the aftermath of COVID on consumer behavior. We felt like we had a trusted partner in Shutter Sauce.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Shutter Sauce could have done differently?

I would suggest diversifying the project structures. If I could do things over again, I would really like to have had a very concise 15-second video as a more effective digital ad. What was delivered is beautiful and valuable on landing pages. I think having an additional something tailored to the social media space would have compounded the impact of the final product(s).

This was a video business card that allowed me to be introduced to people I previously did not have a relationship with. The purpose was to let them know about me, my background and my business. There was an initial meeting between us to see if we would be a good fit. We then met a second time for an overview of the project as well as a general interview of me- my past, my manner of doing business, who I was trying to reach, etc.

We then had the day of actually shooting the video. This took several hours but was very effortless on my part. Farid edited the video, allowed me to review the final draft for approval prior to delivering the finished product.

The entire project was very simple for me. I showed up at the appointed time and location, Farid took care of everything else. I am very happy with the finished product, but just as important, I was very happy with the process. It couldn't have been smoother or easier for me as the client.

I felt that while he was the professional, I was in charge of the project. I have dealt with other vendors in this space in the past. They often are less concerned with the message I am trying to convey to an audience and more worried about how their product looks. It ends up being more of an advertisement for them than for me. That was not the case here. This was completely about me, my business and my audience.

Not at all. I can not imagine the process or the finished product being better than it was.

The team is quite agile and able to respond seamlessly and worked with me to resolve challenges presented out in the field as it relates to capturing film. The editing team provided delivery items promptly and on schedule.

I’m the owner of Sheva Art, an art business. I’m an artist, so I do custom paintings like pet portraits, family portraits, and house paintings. I also sell some original paintings, including landscapes, flowers, and more.

As an art business, it’s very important to have great photos and videos that I can share on my website and social media and represent my art in the best light possible. I was struggling with capturing and presenting my art, so I hired Shutter Sauce to help me create short, reel-type videos and capture images of my work.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Shutter Sauce helped me create reels featuring my artwork to share on social media, as well as take some pictures of myself and my painting process. Initially, I met with Farid (Founder & Creative Video Director), and we walked through my goals and objectives, including ensuring a cohesive photography style that was in line with my brand. 

From there, Shutter Sauce put together the whole strategy with my input and approval. On the shooting day, Farid arrived early and helped me set up my office space and studio. He also recommended colors, setups, and lighting to achieve that cohesive look I was looking for.

Finally, Shutter Sauce took the photos and footage to produce the videos, for which they also handled editing and audio mixing. They delivered several short clips from 30 seconds up to two minutes so that I could have several options to share my work. The shorter one was just a short highlights reel.

I worked directly with Farid on the shooting day, and I also communicated with the editor over email.

I already knew about them through some other local business owners because Shutter Sauce had done a lot of work in our area. Still, I did my Googe search, and they seemed to be one of the best options in the market.

I really liked that Farid was very involved in the process. I felt that I could trust him because I knew that he would do a great job and wouldn’t hand the project off to one of their employees. Moreover, when I looked through Shutter Sauce’s website, I saw how they approached their business and their creative strategy.

I also saw some of Shutter Sauce’s videos and really liked that they were able to tell stories in a very touching way. Compared to their competitors, I felt that Shutter Sauce would be the best fit for what I was looking for.

We worked together in January 2023. Still, I’ll definitely use them again in the future.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

I’m still building out my website and my marketing efforts, so I don’t have a lot of metrics to share yet. Still, Shutter Sauce did a great job editing the videos. So far, I’ve posted those videos on Instagram.

How did Shutter Sauce perform from a project management standpoint?

I had a very seamless experience working with Shutter Sauce. We had no issues whatsoever, and the communication was great. They communicated the timeline ahead of time, and we agreed on it. From there on, they stuck to that timeline.

We mainly communicated via email, Zoom, and phone. Additionally, they used another tool to send me drafts of the videos so that I could leave comments. This tool was great because I didn’t have to send edits over email; I could simply leave comment marks.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I really enjoyed working with Shutter Sauce. They really cared about the project and approached it differently than how they approached other projects — that was their biggest strength. I felt that they really listened to my needs and came up with a unique way of producing videos that fit my business.

Overall, Shutter Sauce works to create unique videos and deliver the message the client is looking for. They don’t use a one-size-fits-all approach; they really care about telling stories in a way that resonates well with the audience.

On top of that, Shutter Sauce is able to create great strategies, demonstrating vast experience. Additionally, they care about their client’s goals and the problems they try to address, using an analytical approach.

Working with Shutter Sauce was great because they did great camera work while simultaneously understanding my business and my different needs. They were able to cater their strategy based on those needs, which was great.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s nothing Shutter Sauce could have improved on — I really enjoyed the process, and I would definitely use them again in the future.

Know the problem you’re trying to solve with the video. A video can bring great value to your business, so it’s important to know why you’re doing one and which issues you’re trying to solve. Additionally, be mindful that it would be a partnership, so you need to provide them with all the materials they would need and be involved in the process.
