We hired Remotestar to help us think through our product roadmap and hire the right people to help build the product. Our goals were to build an iOS MVP app for a video community platform and then replicate the same for Android.

We spoke to multiple vendors and did our research across our networks to scope out the best options. We chose Remotestar on the basis that we had seen the capability of their team through previous interactions and the quality of their thought process as we discussed their approach to the project.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
Within 3 months, MVP developed in iOS 6 months, iOS MVP refined & Android MVP developed App launched in app stores in 9 months We have built a new-gen video app, which operates on par with the big video platforms. The Remotestar team helped us think through our product roadmap, hire the right people wherever we needed them in the world, and have hands-on managed all of the administrative sides of running a tech team. This has let our CPO focus entirely on building out our product.

The Remotestar management team is always available when needed, and the dev team is on daily calls with the Head of Product. We have help when we need it and the independence to just focus on building with the team. This is a great balance that means we do not slow down with the bureaucracy of working so closely with another organization.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Despite video-focused programmers being in high demand, the RemoteStar team moved at a rapid pace to build a pipeline of candidates before finally recommending their best choice of candidate. The candidates they recommend are based on a holistic review of fit with our company, making sure to give consideration to our company culture.

No, we've had great communications throughout, I look forward to seeing this excellent outfit continue to succeed.

Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?
Terrible. Use a front person who’s disengaged and then other people are emailing who have no idea about your needs and aren’t experts. They over-promise and under-deliver. Don’t vet candidates. Don’t have relationships. Left us with one person who didn’t deliver, and left us exposed with one hire that ghosted them so we didn’t have anyone to start in a very important role.
