As part of the completed scope of work, NERDZ LAB successfully delivered a new website that allows users to view relevant content and set up various complex custom features.  In addition to the user-facing platform, NERDZ LAB also developed a comprehensive administration capability that enables administrators to manage users, content, and system configurations efficiently. The admin interface includes a sophisticated publishing capability using custom markup, allowing us to deliver relevant high quality content and analysis to our customers. NERDZ LAB helped to repurpose an AI-enabled engine that allows us to curate news for many sources. This capability ensures is delivered with minimal manual intervention. The AI capability allows for content to be effectively analysed and rated to allow for a better fit to the needs of our enterprise customers.  The solution is underpinned by two integrated back-end systems that seamlessly orchestrate the necessary data processing with a high degree of reliability and robustness.

In terms of measurable outcomes that demonstrate the success and progress of the project, I can highlight the following:

1. Improved Performance – Performance has significantly improved since the first iteration of our website, resulting in faster load times and a smoother user experience.

2. On-Time Delivery – All agreed-upon project milestones and deliverables were completed on time, contributing to a predictable and efficient development process.

3. Infrastructure Upgrade – The successful migration from Firebase to a more robust AWS infrastructure (with MongoDB) has enhanced system scalability, reliability, and maintainability needed for an enterprise-grade solution.

4. Business Growth – The platform has grown substantially in terms of functionality, which has directly contributed to securing new business deals and expanding our customer base.

5. Proactive Communication – Communication throughout the project was consistent and timely, with the team demonstrating proactive engagement - even outside of regular working hours - which greatly contributed to project momentum and trust.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

NERDZ LAB brings that golden trait of taking ownership of issues until they get it right - in my experience this is unique and difficult to find. 

They also stand out with their exceptional communication - we had direct and ongoing access not only to the project manager but also to the development team itself when needed. This made collaboration smooth and transparent compared to shops where the devs stay hidden. 

NERDZ LAB’s directness brings with it an air of openness and honesty which really stood out— in addition to taking full ownership of the work, they managed all associated risks with integrity and accountability seldom found in this market.

The quality and speed of their work were also outstanding, especially when compared to other vendors we've worked with. Their proactive approach and valuable suggestions on specific user flows played a key role in shaping and delivering a successful product – often correcting or improving on our external UX/UI designs.

One particularly unique and valuable aspect of their offering was the fractional CTO service. Since we weren't in a position to hire a full-time CTO at the time, this was incredibly helpful. He was actively involved in both the technical and business sides of our operations and has had a significant impact on our product decisions and overall strategic direction.

They were very attentive to our needs as requirements changed during the course of the project. Always available to speak and always gave good feedback and advice. The team was very professional and we enjoyed working with them.

We used slack and Google meetings to collaborate. Weekly calls to discuss progress and adhoc meeting to discuss issues identified. Management style was focused but cordial. It was very pleasant working with the team. Everyone was very respectful.

Dev skills, project management and organisation, determination and focus. Our project coincided with the start of the war and the team were resilient. It was very impressive.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Managing budgets and scope creep and ensuring customer is made aware at the beginning of the additional scope (so as to not be surprised by additional billable time). That being said, our requirements moved during project so we appreciated their flexibility and that was the cost for not having 100% clear requirements. Also, QA testing and test use cases - sometimes we found bugs that were not identified by the QA team.

Backend Developer: Demonstrated deep understanding of complex integration work — the WealthOS integration involved nuanced data handling, and they delivered it with precision and reliability.
Frontend Developer: Had a great eye for detail and user experience. They didn’t just implement designs — they made thoughtful suggestions to improve how data was presented, especially with the WealthOS output.

Overall, their ability to quickly understand a domain as specific as wealth management and deliver production-ready features with minimal hand-holding was particularly impressive. It felt like having experienced in-house engineers embedded in our team.

Are there any areas for improvement or something NERDZ LAB could have done differently?

As there wasn’t a dedicated QA function, the developers relied on us to carry out testing after code was pushed. While this setup worked overall, it did mean a few issues only surfaced during our internal testing. A bit more rigorous self-testing before handover would have reduced the feedback loop and sped up final delivery.

That said, any bugs we did find were addressed quickly and professionally, and the team remained responsive throughout.

Three (3!) other development companies -- with high Clutch and other platform ratings -- deeply screwed up development. Each of these highly rated companies, over promised and under delivered. Their communication was poor, often hiding problems they encountered and trying to rush through the project to meet deadlines in order to get paid even though they did not perform the work adequately. They did not take ownership of the project or care about the outcome for their client. 

Vova and NerdzLab were different. At each step along the way, I had team members who care about developing the project as specified, communicating all problems and troubleshooting to get the job done well and on time. I felt like I had a true in-house team working with me. They are not just an outsourced, contracted team.

Extensive use of Figma with productive back-and-forth discussion ensured we were happy with the design before it was built. 
2. BUILD. The Nerdz team then made our design reality with detailed approaches to infrastructure and application components, ensuring security, scalability, speed and ease of use. Testing throughout the process resulted in design tweaks and changes, as you’d expect. Nerdz was incredibly helpful, responsive and creative in approaches to address our questions and change requests. 
3. TEST. Once the platform was developed, the Nerdz team and our company tested all functionality for accuracy, OS interoperability, and robustness. The Nerdz team was very patient as we introduced additional change requests based on client feedback from the dev site, and incorporated everything requested with helpful suggestions to improve on our initial asks. 
4. RELEASE. The move from development site to production site was seamless, and users were immediately able to benefit from TriCan’s trial matching capabilities to identify best-match clinical trials for their cancer.

Nerdz has an exceptional customer orientation. Their willingness to work with us on how the platform should look, function and scale was incredibly helpful and instrumental in our success. They explained design decisions and technology approaches in a way that we could understand, without making us feel clueless (which we were!), and did an impressive job of bringing us along on the journey from ideation to the point of product release. We felt they truly partnered with us to launch our company.

Are there any areas for improvement or something NERDZ LAB could have done differently?

Nerdz did an incredible job and we are delighted with their work. The project could have moved more quickly with tighter project management, though I suspect we were the cause of delays due to slow responses and a long list of small change requests.

• Description
  • Evente is an online platform for professional photographers to collect photos taken by guests (using their smatphones) at an event
  • Guests use the evente smarphone app to take and automatically upload photos to the evente cloud platform
  • In addition the photographer collects email and mobile data from the guests to use for marketing purposes
• Setting Up An Event
  • Step 1
    • Photograper creates an account and profile with event
    • Photographer creates an event
    • When the event is created the photographer pays a fee to evente and allocates an event owner
    • The event owner is the person who hires the professional photographer to cover the event
    • The system generates a unique QR code (and alpha numeric code?) for the event
    • The event owner is automatically sent the QR code by email from the photographer
    • When the professional photographer create (and pays evente) an event a unique QR code is generated.
    • This is sent to the event owner who can then share it with guests who are attending the event
    • The event owner is automatically sent login details to the web platform so the can view photos uploaded by guests

    • The event owner shares the QR code with event guests
    • The QR code is used in the mobile app to ensure that their pictures are uploaded to the correct AWS bucket
    • Event guests download the mobile evente App (iOS and Android) and register in app with email
    • Guests receive a welcome email (and push notification?) from the photographer
    • Once registered the event guests enter the QR code
    • Guests register in-app and get an automated email from the photographer
    • The app allows guests to take pictures or upload from their camera roll during the event

    • All photos taken by guests are uploaded into a unique AWS bucket
    • The photos can be viewed by the photographer through the evente web platform
    • The photographer uploads his own photos to the evente web platform
    • The professional photographer uploads his own photos so the event owner can view them along with the photos uploaded by guests

    • The event owner chooses the photos they like
    • The photographer downloads these photos for processing
    • After processing the photos are uploaded to a new gallery and the event owner is notified
    • When the event owner is satisfied the photographer sends an invite to all the guests with a link to the gallery
