MuddyGecko worked with the Micas team to create the logo, company look/feel based on market analysis and the competitive landscape. The logo and associated branding were then used in the Micas website development, customer content creation and in implement the digital communication strategies. Additionally, MuddyGecko has hosted the website for Micas and managed the update process on an ongoing basis.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Muddy Gecko executed to the outline timelines, delivered high quality results to the deliverables and were very engaging the in the process. They have an excellent team at each stage of the process and are easy to work with. We completed the major project with Muddy Gecko just before the Micas launch at Open Compute Project summit in San Jose CA. The Micas branding has been very well received by customers and we are off to an excellent start with the help of Muddy Gecko.

Muddy Gecko had a project manager to work with us on all the details. The project manager would coordinate all the details with the creative portion of the team. They are very organized and delivered within the timelines. Additionally, they were flexible and creative in working through challenges and roadblocks.

I’m the chief administrative officer of a university and academic organization.

What challenge were you trying to address with Muddy Gecko?
Basically, we wanted someone to rebuild one of our department’s websites.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Muddy Gecko updated our website and improved our search optimization to our patients and stakeholders.
We initially had a kickoff meeting where they came and presented who they are, and what the goals were concerning the new website. We were extensively involved in the design process. We helped decide on the look, the color palette, the brand, and the type of template to be used in compliance with our local policies. The website was developed using Squarespace, and they helped us determine the keywords for our SEO.
What is the team composition?
I worked with Peter (CEO) and Teddi (Graphic Designer). They were the main people I worked with, but I think there was one other person involved in the marketing aspect of the project.
How did you come to work with Muddy Gecko?
I wasn’t really involved in the selection process at that time. One of my bosses heard about them and was more engaged with them.
How much have you invested with them?
We probably invested more than $200,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from August 2019–December 2020. We signed the contract and the initial kickoff started around the spring of 2019.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I think one of the most valuable experiences working with them, was the workshops they conducted about revamping the mission statement of the department from a marketing aspect. They made it very clear about where we are, where we’re going, and the progress we made.
In terms of the design, the quality and the feedback weren’t always implemented. There was a lot of repetition from our team and faculty, and we had to look at the content in detail every single time to make sure it’s accurate and correct. However, despite a lot of the feedback, it continued to be inaccurate.
How did Muddy Gecko perform from a project management standpoint?
Project management is a two-way thing. The COVID-19 pandemic happened in the middle of the engagement, so it was hard to keep both sides on track with the timeline — everyone had to pivot and prioritize. They wanted to continue the project, but we had to table it because we had no time.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their particular strength is in the marketing aspect.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Their design team could be stronger in terms of getting feedback and knowing how to implement it. They should also improve their QA and vet everything before showing it to the client.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
If your plans only involve marketing, and not for building a website, you can go with them. They have members who are good at facilitating workshops to revamp your business’s mission and vision statements.
