A digital business card platform had gone through a few development teams to help them with the technical side of the business. They hired Matellio to design their app architecture and assist with UI/UX.
Since the company launched the app, the company was able to scale to a few hundred paying users. The app has received a lot of positive feedback, and they have re-engaged with the vendor to restructure the app again based on everything they learned from this project.
The client submitted this review online.
BACKGROUND
Please describe your company and your position there.
Nock is a digital business card platform for the modern networker, with a focus on enterprise scalability. I am a partner.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
For what projects/services did your company hire Matellio, and what were your goals?
My core team in-house is primarily on the creative and design side, and we have gone through tons of development teams over the years in a search for a real winner. We hired Matellio as our next development partner to assist with the build out of the Nock platform for web and the angular dev required to make the sites deliver properly on mobile.
They architected the entire application, assisted with UI/UX, and deployed the app flawlessly.
SOLUTION
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
As mentioned, we have used many dev teams in the past. We found Matellio here on Clutch and started some DD. After a few calls with the team it became clear that Matellio operates in a different way than any dev team we have employed in the past.
They truly gave our project the love it needed before receiving a penny, and ensured they understood the entire vision before we proceeded with a contract. This was a breath of fresh air and we knew from that point that Matellio was a partner who actually cared.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
So, I'm not the most technological guy on planet earth. I can not explain exactly what technology was used. I do know the site is built with angular and node, as I have heard those words a lot during our calls. But we started with gaining a thorough understanding of the project scope, which Matellio helped us develop along the way.
They then provided UI/UX samples which we revised until complete and accepted. This was well over 120 individual screens, and their work really helped us understand more about the project we were creating. They then went into development of the platform, which was much speedier than anticipated.
We communicated weekly at least, and they deployed a live project on schedule.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We worked primarily with Pooja, a designer, and Wasim, our project coordinator. Wasim is truly one heck of a hard worker and we couldn't be happier to have him in our corner. Occasionally other lead devs would hop into our calls for clarifications and to help out, but Wasim is who we continue to talk to weekly to this day.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
Since launch we have scaled to a few hundred paying users, which has been great. The product has received a ton of great feedback, and we have learned so much about the solutions we have created.
This being said, we have now entered into a new contract with Matellio to re-architect the platform based on our new research and findings, and have recently started this. We could not be more excited to continue our journey with them.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
Wasim is a fantastic project manager. He asks questions, takes diligent notes, and quite literally *never* drops the ball. We communicate via Telegram or email for quick asks and touch-ins, and via Microsoft Teams for our video calls and work reviews. He is always very quick to respond to any correspondence, and has been nothing but timely every step of the way.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
With development teams in the past, they would approach a project with a "pay now and we will assess the full scope later" mentality.
Matellio refused to accept a single penny until they knew the *exact* scope of the project, and they asked every necessary question (and provided many, many necessary suggestions) to get to the point where we all understood the scope perfectly before proceeding.
To them, it isn't about the money. It's about client respect and doing amazing work. It's about detail and understanding and delivery. It is for this reason that we have since brought several more projects to them, and they continue to be our development partner.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
I can honestly say that I have not ever worked with a team like them before, and I likely never will work with another team. I am happy to have Matellio as our development partner, and am thrilled with the way they approach all aspects of the projects they complete.

Matellio has developed a sports training company’s mobile app for Android and iOS. The team’s tasks include creating three subscription plans for the app and building its video-sharing functionality.
The client is impressed with Matellio’s services. They’re cost-effective, and they have capabilities that are not found in the company’s previous vendors. Their project management skills are also good, and they have a wide network of resources that allows them to accomplish any task given to them.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the owner and CEO of iPracticeBuilder, an Android and iOS app for sports practice and training.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Matellio?
I needed Matellio for their app development services. For context, I had the app in 2012 and built it with a developer who was moonlighting with a team in India. Then, I switched to a developer in San Francisco to revamp the app and put it on the iOS platform. After that, I hired Matellio to take the app to a completely different level, adding video-sharing features.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Matellio developed the app’s video-sharing functionality across all platforms. We had the designs laid out within three months, and then we went forward with the development, which took about eight months.
Moreover, they created subscription plans for the app. Instead of charging a flat rate of $499 for the platform, we decided to use the subscription business model. Ultimately, the team created three subscription plans for the app.
At present, we’re still in contract for their support services. They’ve also done design work for us.
What is the team composition?
We’ve worked with around eight people from their team, and I have one main point of contact.
How did you come to work with Matellio?
I met Matellio when I was searching for a local vendor, which allowed me to have eyes on who was working on my app. I was in San Francisco, and they were based in Santa Fe. I met with their CEO in San Jose, and although the job was done by their team in India, I felt more confident with them because I could see somebody locally. On top of that, they were highly organized. As a result, I hired them.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent around $50,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in June 2020, and our partnership is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I’m truly happy with Matellio. The way they do their job and the hourly rate at which they do it prove that they’re a great company for someone like me who’s just starting out. Moreover, I’ve worked with one of the biggest companies in San Francisco, and if I could go back in time, I’d rather choose Matellio. I've had to spend an extra $150,000 by not going to them first.
Apart from that, they can do things that other companies — including the large San Francisco company I first went to — cannot do. Given the team and resources they have, I highly recommend them for their services. Their performance is night and day when compared to my two previous developers.
How did Matellio perform from a project management standpoint?
Matellio’s project management is great. We communicate through Skype, while they send me development builds through TestFlight.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their network is the best part of working with them. My app has to work on iOS and Android, so we have to test it on different phones; we’ve encountered no roadblocks. That’s because Matellio has access to people who have the right expertise we need. Simply put, their network can solve everything.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, there aren’t any. I’m completely happy with them.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Go with Matellio. They have everything planned out, including their system of communication. Trust that they’ll run the show and you’ll be happy along the way.

Matellio is developing the flagship app for a delivery system company. Their work involves implementing the changes the client wants and resolving potential issues before launching the app.
The company is happy with Matellio’s services. Suppliers who have seen the app have been impressed with it, and they’ve expressed confidence in the app’s performance once it launches. The team has been highly flexible, resolving the firm’s issues and executing their requests without any complaints.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the president of the company behind the app called Materials on Demand. We’re a delivery service where people can get trade parts as quickly as they can get a cup of coffee. This makes trade workers more productive and helps them stay on the job since the materials are delivered to them within 20–30 minutes.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Matellio?
We hired Matellio to develop our app, which was a one-stop shop for plumbing, air conditioning, electricians, painters, roofers, and other contractors.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
I have the idea of the product, and Matellio has been developing it. We’re still working on the app because I keep changing things. In other words, I come up with problems that I want to overcome before the app goes live, and they come up with solutions. Some of the features I want include adding more inventory that suppliers can access. That way, they won’t have to do legwork by themselves; all they need to do is customize the items’ pricing.
What is the team composition?
We work with a team of 7–8 people that do the development sprints. Three other people are involved in figuring out the logistics of my next move for the app. Overall, we collaborate with not less than 10 people.
How did you come to work with Matellio?
I put a bid out for app developers that Clutch had given me as recommendations. Then, I interviewed the top three and asked them a lot of questions. I was turned off by the ones that shied away from giving me answers. However, Matellio answered my questions and resolved all of my concerns about the app. Their team made me comfortable knowing that the app would be developed without any issues. As a result, we hired them.
How much have you invested with them?
We have a budget of $100,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in September 2020, and the engagement is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I’ve approached the suppliers that will use the app for their clients, and they all think it’s crazy and unbelievable — they can’t wait until it comes to the market.
How did Matellio perform from a project management standpoint?
We do plenty of emails, meetings, phone calls, and texting.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Matellio never says no to my requests, and I haven’t come across a problem that they can’t solve. The team simply figures things out and has a meeting with me where they provide solutions. If I approve their solution, they’ll go for it. If I ask them to change something and give them the authorization to do it, they’ll quickly start its sprint development.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I see nothing that they can do differently.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be upfront, and don’t worry about telling Matellio what you want. They’ll tell you what you need to accomplish your idea. In that sense, the team is also completely upfront with you. Moreover, every time I make a change, they don’t just go ahead and do it; they give me another budget that I have to authorize. That’s totally refreshing because the team doesn’t send me a bill for every question I ask.

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a co-founder and CEO of a social selling company, Thought Horizon. Our company helps other businesses be successful on social media and use the power of their sales teams to generate interesting conversations.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Matellio?
When we initially engaged them, we had just an idea for a SaaS platform.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Matellio developed our social selling platform. The project started with a proof of concept, and we described what we expected for the customer experience and user journeys them. Their team then converted our ideas into code and a functional platform using PHP and .NET. They also developed a mobile application version of our software. Five years later, they’re still growing and operating our web platform.
Our platform acts as a content repository for businesses and connects them to social media networks. Our customers use the platform to find and share interesting content, generating engagement with prospects.
What is the team composition?
We work with a project manager and a few core developers. On occasion, we tap into their engineering pool to address specific needs.
How did you come to work with Matellio?
My business partner met their chairman and that’s how we discovered them.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent somewhere in the neighborhood of $500,000 on their services.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together around the first quarter of 2016, and we still work with Matellio.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
What’s great about Matellio is that we never have to worry about the technical part of the deliverables. We track the platform’s performance, implementation times, and the quality of new features. We’re generally happy with the quality of their work.
How did Matellio perform from a project management standpoint?
We use the Agile methodology of development, meaning we have predictable budgets and variable velocities. We operate projects over video calls and Asana, and the system works splendidly. There’s a cascade of communication. If there’s an urgent matter, we reach out to them via WhatsApp. For less urgent matters, we make tasks in Asana.
We work with the same team of engineers as we did at the beginning of our partnership. They're able to think ahead of us and make recommendations. We trust Matellio’s forecasts for how long it will take them to develop new features.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Matellio cares about our business’s success. When we screen share with their team, we see that various engineers have our logo on their desktops. It’s obvious that they’re proud to be working on our project. We developed a great working relationship with them because Matellio understands our business and our goals, unlike past vendors.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, we’re quite happy with them.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
It’s been easy working with Matellio from the beginning.

Matellio has completed numerous projects for a multi-business internet startup, recently developing a website for legal forms. They integrated a digital signature platform and implemented version control.
Matellio exceeded expectations throughout the project and ultimately delivered high-quality code. Organized and detail-oriented, the team provides thorough sprint outlines and is accommodating of the client’s preferred communication channels. They communicate seamlessly and meet deadlines.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m one of the co-founders and a lead developer. We have multiple internet businesses, one of which is a legal form service provider. If someone has a pretty common legal document and doesn’t want to hire an attorney, they can visit our website, where we have a library of around 150 legal forms. They can choose the form that fits their needs and go through a simple questionnaire in plain English, which they can then download, print, or send to someone else to sign.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Matellio?
We’ve done 7–8 projects with Matellio. For the legal form service provider, our challenge was the ability to easily add forms continuously over time. We didn’t want to have to hardcode each of our available forms; we wanted a system where a non-coder could easily add additional forms to the website. Another challenge was the ability to update forms that are already live, but without interfering with or messing up previous users’ forms that had been created using an older version of the form.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
My team did the design and then brought Matellio on to develop the project. We provided wireframes. We built our own digital signature platform, which Matellio integrated into the site. When a user completes a form and they’re ready to sign it, they can digitally sign through their account rather than having to print it out. They can also send it to a third-party for a signature as well. Matellio implemented version control.
We used Laravel as the backend framework. We also used HTML, CSS, and jQuery, as well as MySQL for the database and AWS for the servers.
What is the team composition?
Our main point of contact is Ankit (Project Manager), and I interact with him a lot. There is also a lead developer. 4–5 people are assigned to this project.
How did you come to work with Matellio?
We actually found them on Clutch. We read their reviews and then reached out to them.
How much have you invested with them?
This project is around $80,000 so far.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our work together began at the end of August 2019. We continue to use them for additional projects that we have in the pipeline.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The success of the project exceeded our expectations. A couple of things really stood out: they were very organized, detail-oriented, and always on time. Before the project even began, they gave us a detailed sprint outline, from sprint 1–12, and they never missed one deadline. That was extremely impressive, as was their communication throughout the entire project.
I’ve been developing for over 10 years, and we’ve used other outside resources in the past. We have in-house developers as well. I’ve been around code for a long time, and the quality of their code exceeded our expectations. It was very detailed and organized – it was perfect. They have exceeded our expectations in every which way. We went into the engagement hoping that they could at least do the foundation, and we figured that if it wasn’t up to our standards, we could modify the code ourselves. However, we haven’t had to do that. It’s been a fantastic relationship, and we’re going to continue using them for all of our projects going forward.
How did Matellio perform from a project management standpoint?
They’re very flexible on how you want to communicate with them. We have used Jira, Notion, email, Skype, Zoom, Google Hangouts – it has just depended on the time of day and who is doing the meeting. They really customize it to whatever works best for each particular client; they don’t make you use any particular system. They’re willing to use whatever the client already has access to.
What did you find most impressive about them?
If I had to sum it up, it’s their communication, timeliness, and quality of work.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No – I wouldn’t change a thing about it.
Any advice for potential customers?
Hire them. If you’re having second thoughts, just go for it. You’ll be very happy you did. Be clear in what you want to develop; the clearer you are, the faster the project will go.

The app is based on Google maps, so customers can log in and see the events that show up on the map, get notifications, or find directions. Users can also change their settings and receive suggestions based on their previous choices. They guided me through the whole process and helped me change the functionality midway through the process. They're currently helping me with the website.
What is the team composition?
I have one main point of contact.
How did you come to work with Matellio?
I found them on Clutch. I contacted many companies and received about 15 quotes. After talking to Matellio, I decided they'd be a great fit.
How much have you invested with them?
I've spent about $26,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
I started working with them in June 2018 and we launched the app in December 2018. I continue working with them on other things.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They've been extremely helpful. I had everything outlined, but there were unforeseen problems and mistakes on my part, which they helped me find and resolve. They were also flexible with any changes we had to make to shape the direction of the app.
How did Matellio perform from a project management standpoint?
They do an excellent job. We're in different time zones, but we haven't had any issues with that. We usually use email, phone, and Skype to communicate.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They're very committed and do high-quality work. I didn't know how to develop an app and they helped me identify my mistakes and fix them. Also, they're very transparent and meet their deadlines.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I can't think of anything.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Talk to them. Their team is very helpful and accommodating.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm the founder of Ostrij, a company that acts as a middleware provider.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Matellio?
I was looking for a development company with expertise in building a platform like ours.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Matellio built a platform from scratch based on my design that allows users to log in and manage the integration between two applications without having to write any code. It bundles a Salesforce application on one end, while allowing the user to manipulate the integration of it with the another depending on the client's needs, using PHP and AWS.
What is the team composition?
We work with a project manager and a few developers.
How did you come to work with Matellio?
They were referred to me and I was impressed by the level of complexity they'd dealt with on other projects.
How much have you invested with them?
We've invested about $60,000 thus far.
What is the status of this engagement?
They completed the bulk of the development for the platform from February 2017–February 2018, but we're still working together.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Matellio successfully delivered a well-coded platform that our business essentially revolves around. Although it's still new, we've received positive feedback thus far.
How did Matellio perform from a project management standpoint?
They're very responsive and great at communicating overall.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They're genuinely interested in our partnership and the outcome of the project itself. They're also very responsive and flexible unlike most other firms I've worked with.
Are there any areas they could improve?
If they're interested in expanding to do more work within the US, I'd suggest they try to be more available during US business hours.

Matellio designed and developed a website and mobile app for iOS and Android from scratch, incorporating custom features such as facial recognition and automated payment processing.
Matellio delivered a high-quality website and app that's not only improved internal processes but also overall customer satisfaction. Highly responsive and attentive to client needs, working with their team was a pleasure. They were also very transparent and helpful throughout the engagement.

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm the artistic director for a cosmetics company.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Matellio?
We needed help developing a new website and mobile app, as well as updating and automating certain features (i.e., payment processing).
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Matellio designed and developed our website from scratch, incorporating the same design and branding, while updating its overall security and adding an automated payment processing system. They updated the PHP and added other custom features, including a login section for customers that allowed them to view pricing of products.
They also designed and developed a complementary mobile app for iOS and Android that incorporates facial recognition technology, allowing users to take a selfie, test our products on their photo, and add items to their shopping cart.
What is the team composition?
We worked with 4–5 people, including a project manager.
How did you come to work with Matellio?
I found them on a list of top companies to work for in 2017 and reached out. They were very responsive right from the start.
How much have you invested with them?
We invested in the range of $10,000–$50,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in 2016 and wrapped up the work in March 2018.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Matellio significantly improved the functionality of our website, streamlining internal processes and eliminating the need to manually input credit card information into two different places. We've also received fewer complaints from visitors and customers, which is a strong indication that we've successfully addressed their concerns with our previous site.
How did Matellio perform from a project management standpoint?
They were very responsive and kept track of milestones through Jira, which I found to be extremely useful. Despite the timezone difference, their team went above and beyond in terms of communications. In one instance, we had a scheduled call late in the evening their time in which their staff was having difficulty using their remote video conferencing service. Rather than reschedule the meeting, their team came into their office after hours; I was very impressed that they were willing to go out of their way like that.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I'm most impressed by their ability to translate our creative ideas into well-functioning frameworks of code. They were also transparent both about pricing and showing us what options we had to help us achieve our goals.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Since we're not very technically savvy, it would've helped if they had educated us a little more on certain aspects of development, including bugs and other issues that popped up.

Matellio created an MVP for a hybrid iOS app. The team designed mock-ups, built a web page and portal, and integrated a payment solution. Testing on the MVP is now in progress.
The functional MVP app is faithful to the original vision and has earned positive user feedback. During development, the team adapted to sudden changes and accommodated the time difference in a flexible manner. Customers can expect excellent service and a high level of professionalism.

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the founder of Picsiwant, LLC, a mobile app to capture and deliver images specific to the elementary school market.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Matellio?
I had gone to local app development companies, but couldn’t find the right value. I needed an affordable vendor because I didn’t want to find capital to seed the project.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
To start, I sat down with Matellio for one hour and detailed my vision for the application. The team then created mock-ups and designs for a hybrid iOS app.
They built the minimal viable product (MVP) and an introductory web page with a secure portal for processing images, as well as a shopping cart functionality. The solution enables customers to purchase images online as well. Currently, I’m promoting the completed MVP and letting individuals test it.
What is the team composition?
Anina (Sales Manager, Matellio) was my initial contact. I then worked with three different resources including one lead.
How did you come to work with Matellio?
One of my entrepreneur friends had worked with Matellio for three years and recommended the team. I then reached out to the CEO and met the team over the phone. To accommodate the geographical distance, Matellio methodically mapped everything out. That planning was a factor in my decision to go with them.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent close to $30,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in January 2018 and the partnership is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The team has done a tremendous job executing on my idea. They understood the need for a secure solution and built the app accordingly. What’s more, they made quick changes when I requested them.
The app is now functional and efficient; it’s received positive user feedback during testing. I plan to keep working with Matellio because I’m pleased with what they’ve created to fulfill my vision and want to grow the idea.
How did Matellio perform from a project management standpoint?
We communicate weekly via Asana. They stay on top of communication and haven’t missed a set goal. The timeline slightly exceeded the original 90-day schedule only because I changed the cart integration. Originally, I wanted to use my personal banking, but had to switch to another company.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They haven’t disappointed in realizing my vision. The team provides great value and expertise.
Are there any areas they could improve?
The time difference concerned me at first, but it proved to be a non-issue. Although I tried to be respectful about calling after the team’s business hours, I did have to call them late on one occasion. They answered the phone immediately and took care of the urgent issue. The team has always had a responsive and professional approach to their customer service.
Any advice for potential customers?
Definitely interview Matellio. If the team can’t do the job, they’ll lead the prospective client to the right person.
