Ace Mart Restaurant Supply is a family owned and operated restaurant and kitchen supply company that prides itself on a large inventory of in-stock equipment and supplies and focus on customer service, our number one priority. I am the Director of Web and Software Development for the company, and have been with the company for almost 10 years.

We wanted to not only give our mobile users a better shopping experience, but also were looking to utilize a newer technology for PWA - Progressive Web Application - that would allow us alot of the functionality of an app, but without the overhead involved in designing/developing/listing on the play store.

Unfortunately, with only a small in-house team of developers working on other mission critical internal projects, we didn't have the bandwidth to make this project happen as quickly as we wanted to, so we began searching for third party development houses who could handle the solution, migration, and platform upgrade we were looking to do.

After much research, including reaching out to another third party development company who had performed work for us previously, we ultimately selected MageDelight for our PWA solution based on 3 critical factors:

• time (they were the shortest proposed solution to market out of all providers we'd been in discussions with);
• knowledge (MageDelight was one of the most knowledgeable about this newer React technology, and very knowledgeable about the Magento ecosystem, which made them a good fit);
• and cost (MageDelight's quote/proposal was the most cost-effective out of al providers in negotiations)

Following a kick-off call, we proceeded through solution discovery to ensure that all aspects of the project were accounted for thoroughly. Following discovery, the project was then separated into logical Sprints for development, for core functionality of the platform, as well as other third party and even custom created extensions, for migration to a PWA utilizing the Magento PWA Studio.

We met with MageDelight periodically - usually weekly, sometimes bi-weekly - for updates on the Sprints, and feedback from testing. Following corrections from the previous Sprint in the event of feedback, work would then progress to the next Sprint in the project, up until project completion and QA testing as well as UAT. Key deliverables for this project initially were an upgraded site utilizing the newest available version of the Magento platform, that still had the same look and feel o

f our current site, but with additional improvements specifically for mobile usability, with additional functionality based on PWA capabilities (push notifications, offline browsing, add to home screen) utilizing React

So far, we have not only had extremely favorable feedback from our customers and employees regarding the speed of the site following the PWA migration, but we've seen an increase in conversion rates on mobile devices as well, that we have definitively attributed to the project completion and upgraded website

We had very clearly defined sprints setup from the start of the project, and MageDelight was excellent at keeping us apprised of the progress of each task for each sprint as well as any roadblocks or issues that might have caused delay. We also met via teleconference quite often - to discuss issues, to verify individual task solutions, and even as a platform for advice about some of our decisions on mobile that was extremely useful.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The communication was FANTASTIC. We had contracted out another 3rd party development company the previous year for a minor speed optimization project, and the project from that other 3rd party company was a pretty rough experience. That company was very disorganized, we had to constantly press for updates as they were not being readily provided without prompting, we only had 1 dedicated resource which was the actual developer, and not only was the project not completed on time, it was not completed to our full satisfaction.

Because of this past experience, we were very hesitant at first to enter into another contract with a 3rd party development provider. This is partially why we really took our time researching, speaking with, and investigating solution providers before making a decision to go with MageDelight. I am so happy we did!

MageDelight was a BREATH OF FRESH AIR in terms of their communication and transparency in terms of Project Management. We never had to reach out to get updates, we were provided with them constantly throughout the project. The MageDelight team was even willing to acquiesce to using Discord for communication outside of regular email, and this made a huge difference as well as we were able to have the lines of communication always open, and on a platform/forum that we already utilize, making it unnecessary to have to use additional project management or communication channels.

My biggest commendation about our experience with MageDelight however has got to be the communication, as well as how much MageDelight really felt like a supplement to my in-house development team. There is truly an air of collaboration between my developers and MageDelight's team to where MageDelight truly did feel like an extension of my own developers. It was this communication, this collaboration, that really made MageDelight a unique company to work with, and the outcome of my project a complete success.

We have been so impressed with MageDelight, in fact, that we have taken the relationship beyond just the scope of this one project, and now have an ongoing support relationship with them that we plan on continuing for the foreseeable future.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I cannot think of a thing that could have been done differently really, or that could have been improved; I really feel we have been highly satisfied overall with the quality of work performed, the time to market for the project which was right on time, and the cost for the services provided.

Every project has unexpected situations and problems. The way the team face it makes the difference. I really appreciated the effort capability demonstrated by the team when the project demanded so, in some difficult moments.

Some of the tasks became urgent because customer sent some information with too short time, but the team overcame the challenge taking some extra resources when it seemed to be impossible. Good job, Shruti Hirpara, Manish Goswami, Ravi Bhalodia, Hemangi Patel and Urvashi Patel, and thanks to Priti Parmar and Vishal Jotwani as well.
