What challenge were you trying to address with Space Deck Digital?

We needed help with SEO. We used to get clients through word of mouth and referrals, but we noticed that we were getting no inquiries through our website; it had little to no traffic at all. Thus, we wanted to change that and rank our website organically to see if it made a difference in our client pipeline.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Space Deck Digital helped us with local SEO. I had done some keyword research by myself, so I initially shared those keywords with them. They took some of those keywords but also did some keyword research themselves because the ones I identified were very competitive, so it would be hard to direct organic traffic to our site using those keywords.

After their research, Space Deck Digital found less competitive keywords with high search volume, so we mostly targeted those. Additionally, they sent a video giving recommendations on changes we needed to make. Then, we implemented those changes internally.

Moreover, Space Deck Digital helped us write some blog posts for our website. They didn’t write them directly on our site. Instead, they provided us with a document containing the SEO content and some optimized images so that we could copy that content and paste it directly into our site.

I found them on an online ratings directory while doing a Google search — it might have been Clutch. Then, I filled out a contact form on their website, and they got back to me. I ultimately chose them because they were also a web design agency, so if they could do SEO for themselves, they could do it for us, too.

We paid them approximately $1,200 per month, so we spent $6,000 in total.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together around March 2021, and our engagement ended around August 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

During the first 2–3 months of our engagement with Space Deck Digital, we didn’t see any important results, although we saw our rankings improve a little bit. However, the fourth month was great, as we saw a huge amount of traffic coming to our website. In the fifth month, we saw our Google My Business profile ranking as number one for Grand Rapids Web Design, which was great.

Thanks to Space Deck Digital’s SEO campaigns, we got some new clients. However, we realized that those clients weren’t our ideal clients in the long term, so we stopped our SEO efforts. Still, Space Deck Digital did a great job overall.

How did Space Deck Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

Space Deck Digital’s performance was great. Although we had a huge time difference, they did a great job meeting deadlines and fitting their schedule according to our needs. As for communication, they added us to Slack, through which we communicated and exchanged materials, collaterals, and reports.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Space Deck Digital was also a web design company, so they knew exactly what they needed to do for us because they had already done it for themselves. There aren’t many web design agencies doing their own SEO, which I found to be very impressive about Space Deck Digital.

No, everything went really well.

If you’re looking to grow your business through local SEO, Space Deck Digital is a wonderful choice. They know what they’re doing, and they understand the ins and outs of SEO, so they can achieve great results for your business.

I’m the owner of Make My Nutrition, an e-commerce company that sells organic food.

We had to put together a new website. Our previous site also sold organic food but focused on prepared meals, and we wanted to sell raw food. According to our market research, we needed an easy-to-navigate website with a good UX design. We hired Space Deck Digital for the design portion of the project.

Space Deck Digital has designed our website's UI/UX using Figma. We gave them our logo and color schemes and provided four reference websites similar to what we wanted to achieve. 

Next, they'll provide PPC advertising services. We'll soon start a campaign where the team will manage Google Ads and Facebook Ads.

We've spent around $2,100 on the design. Our PPC contract comes into effect tomorrow, and we'll pay them $1,500 monthly to run our ads.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We hired a company to do user testing, and according to them, the site's UX design is great. Although they recommended minor improvements, the overall feedback has been positive, and we're happy with how our website looks. 

How did Space Deck Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management has been great. We've had some communication challenges due to our different time zones. However, they've done their best to make themselves available during our working hours. The team always shows up for meetings and answers our questions.

As for communication tools, we use a WhatsApp group and exchange a few emails back and forth. For our video conferences, we use Zoom. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

We've worked with many agencies in the past, and what I've found different about Space Deck Digital are their patience and understanding. They do their best to understand our business; they put time and effort into understanding what we're trying to achieve. They take the time to answer all of our questions and have made some amazing suggestions we would never have thought of.

Our only challenge has been communication due to time zones.

Space Deck Digital developed our e-commerce website from scratch when we started our business. They used Figma for the design; they integrated a subscription plan into the system. We initially thought about developing the site using Shopify, but that didn’t work because we wanted to be able to make changes ourselves. So, Space Deck Digital moved the entire site to WooCommerce and WordPress. 

They also provided some graphic design services. Space Deck Digital’s team made some banners for our social media, along with some promotional collateral.

The site launched and is performing well. We’re getting sales and orders daily because the site’s easy navigation makes it simple for users to order our products. It is also easy to subscribe to our services.

We had some minor issues; we’re located in India, and they’re in Australia, so the time zone difference made communication hard. However, everything worked out nicely. First, we communicated through emails but then migrated to Slack. Outside of that, we had meetings on Zoom.

We got really great value for the money we invested with Space Deck Digital. Their advice improved our UX; they took the time to understand our business model to ensure their suggestions fit our needs. I’m grateful for their services.

Once we had an agreement on the design, Space Deck Digital started building our new site right away. We talked frequently with Aaron to review the progress and make adjustments. The website was designed using Figma.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our website is yet to go live for the public, as our in-house developers are still working on the development part. We only hired Space Deck Digital for design. But we are getting very positive feedback from our team members on the design they've built and we are proud of it.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Aaron was great to work with and was very responsive to our requirements and changes. He always made himself available on Zoom with us, even on short notice. Space Deck Digital made updates and changes promptly, usually within 24 hours.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The team was responsive and patient. They took the time to walk us through areas we needed help with. They had a personalized approach and were motivated to get the job done well.

To be honest, I can't think of anything. Everything went very smoothly!

I am the CEO of Wall Docks. We are a Software company that specializes in app developement. We have some of our own apps on appstore that let users download high-quality wallpapers and stock images.

The main goal was to redesign our website in order to attract a larger audience, while at the same time increasing the conversion rate. The visitors we wanted were people who are passionate about photography and visual graphics. We also needed our digital presence to be more creative, as our target audience is also creative & which would help our company stand out from the competition.

As we mainly focus on the App development, our company hadn’t paid much attention to our website’s UI/UX. Our website was very basic as we didn't use it for marketing purposes but as we started growing we decided to invest in paid advertising and for that we needed to update our design & make it more modern, so that we can get the max out of it. So we decided it was the right time to invest in a modern and well-structured website. We don’t have in-house designers, so we decided to outsource the project to a professional design agency.

We started with a couple discovery calls to share our thoughts and vision on how the website should look. We then received the general concept, mockups, and a few initial designs of the main page. The team was super attentive to our feedback and made revisions as we requested. Once the main page was ready and approved by our administration, they proceeded to work on the rest of the pages and delivered them in groups, and on time.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

It's too early to tell in terms of conversions, as we haven't yet done any major marketing at all but our overall user experience has improved a lot and our bounce rate has significantly dropped and we are receiving a lot of positive feedback from our users

The communication with Aaron was easy and convenient. We received quick responses and regular updates throughout the project. The team used Slack for communication which worked out really well.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The team managed to take our ideas and requirements and turn them into reality. We also appreciate the fact that they took the time to understand our business and see things from our perspective. The result was just stunning.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

It is hard to think of anything. All I can say is that we are very satisfied with their work.

After the first two months, we started seeing an increase in leads from our website. We are now getting around 15–20 leads per month, and this number has been steadily increasing. 

We are currently ranking in the top three in some suburbs and towns near our location.

Their project management has been fantastic. We haven’t had any trouble communicating with them, and they really understand the vision we have for our business. 

They send us monthly reports of our SEO campaigns, and we communicate through emails and phone calls. We also meet in person.

They are very focused on how the work they provide is going to help our business. They aren’t too attached to designs or any ideas because their primary goal is to make sure that we are gaining business from what they are doing.

Thanks to their efforts, we’ve seen consistent improvements in our Google search rankings for certain keywords — we’re currently in the top three. In terms of organic results, we’re ranked at the bottom of the first page, but we continue to see some improvements every month.

Everything has been good in this regard so far. I haven’t heard any complaints from my partner, who’s more involved with them, about deadlines, communication, and scheduling. For communication, we use WhatsApp.

We hired Space Deck Digital to redesign and rebuild our company website. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, we relied on a third-party company for our website and contracts, but once business started to slow down, we wanted to rebuild the site and take control of our marketing.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

First, Space Deck Digital sent us a detailed questionnaire so they could get a better idea of our project and the type of assistance we needed. After submitting the necessary information, the team reviewed our company data and researched past customers to inform their initial design layout. Then, they created a mock-up outlining how their site would differ from the original in terms of functionality and design. 

Once we approved the mock-up, they took three weeks to design and develop the website’s landing page. Then, we reviewed the new site and asked them to make a few revisions, which they did. They took four weeks to apply our edits and one week to work on the remainder of the site, which included writing copy and uploading content for us. Ultimately, the team delivered the entire WordPress website within five weeks. 

The site shares information about what we do, how we do it, and our services. Space Deck Digital has also built a contact form for leads to get in touch with us easily. We work with another service provider to run digital advertisements on the landing pages Space Deck Digital has created for us. Space Deck Digital maintains and updates the site and extends additional web development support as needed.

The conversion rate for our original site was 0.5%, which didn’t meet our expectations. After Space Deck Digital rebuilt the site, our conversion rate increased to roughly 3%. Furthermore, our most successful campaign has seen a 5% conversion rate, which is excellent. 

How did Space Deck Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

Space Deck Digital has been a transparent, communicative project management partner. They’ve done everything perfectly, and I’ve loved working with them. The team has carried out a thorough process, set realistic expectations, and delivered the promised outcomes. They’ve consistently met deadlines and delivered within budget.

Despite working in different time zones, Space Deck Digital has been a responsive and available partner. We typically communicate via Zoom, and they use an internal project management tool to manage tasks.

I’ve been most impressed with how much time Space Deck Digital has dedicated to learning about our business. They’ve tried to see things from our and our client’s perspectives so they can make informed suggestions and deliver valuable results.

Apart from the difference in time zones, which is out of their control, I have nothing Space Deck Digital could improve on.

Space Deck Digital follows a comprehensive process, asking many questions upfront. I recommended answering their questions and being patient with them because it will only benefit you at the end of the day. If you feel like filling out forms and sharing information is a hassle, I advise going through the hassle because it will be worth it.
