BACKGROUND
Please describe your company and your position there.
I’m the co-founder and COO of tink GmbH. tink is the leading IoT marketplace for connected products and services. We employ more than 80 people and operate in Germany, Austria, and the US. The company is funded by Rocket Internet, ProSiebenSat1, and Vattenfall.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
For what projects/services did your company hire Panda Group?
Panda Group provides back- and frontend development services for our IoT marketplace.
What were your goals for this project?
Our goals is to become the leading tech platform for selling connected products and services.
SOLUTION
How did you select this vendor?
We considered Panda Group along with five external agencies and a few internal options. Ultimately, we went with them based on 10 distinct criteria.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
Panda Group worked with our team to develop the backend platform for the marketplace in addition to developing and implementing the frontend structure. Since then, they’ve continued to help maintain and improve the site.
What was the team composition?
Throughout the project, they’ve provided up to 15 resources across various fields who work with our five in-house developers.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
We’ve worked with them for about two and a half years, now, and they’ve done an excellent job building the platform. They’re great partners who’ve helped us further develop our IoT marketplace.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
They set up the workflow in a highly professional manner, using team leads to manage all the sub-workstreams. Occasionally, their c-level members may also get involved. The CEO supports us with concept and structure work as well as ad-hoc critical problems. Likewise, the COO manages the operating business.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
The team has already rescued our marketplace twice during critical moments: once during Black Friday and again over Christmas. They’re always available to help and have allowed us to scale up our servers.
Are there any areas for improvement?
It would be beneficial if they could propose more features that might be relevant in the future. Not to mention, cross-cultural communication can take a few weeks to settle into. But they’ve provided excellent service so far, and we have even higher growth targets for them.
