What challenge were you trying to address with Enterprise Mobility Xperts?

I have a couple of businesses in Australia. We’re working with a gaming company and a national broadband network. With Enterprise Mobility Xperts, we’ve been working on a project for a new social protocol.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The platform I’m building with Enterprise Mobility Xperts is not really social networking, but more of a social platform. I think the majority of social platforms are actually very antisocial and I wanted them to develop something that was a bit different. It’s both a mobile app for iOS and Android and a web app.

I had an initial discussion with them and outlined what I wanted to achieve with this project. They laid out a few milestones. We started by creating a rough sketch and moved to different software, algorithms, and analytics. At first, I wasn’t sure everything could be done. The majority of it was experimentation. However, they covered everything and more. I got new ideas once we started developing and the whole thing actually changed from our initial talk. They did almost everything—I didn’t even make a schedule.

What is the team composition?

I’ve worked with the same two people I met initially, Nishant (Co-Founder, Enterprise Mobility Xperts) and Rohit (Co-Founder, Enterprise Mobility Xperts). I went to their office and met their lead developers for Android and iOS. I can call them whenever I have a question, and just talk to the person I want to.

I’d say there were 1–2 dozen people actually involved in the project. We’re developing three different platforms, and I know that they have a few different designers and programmers for different things. Right now, we’re testing the product before our planned launch. There are 2–3 dozen registered users so far.

How did you come to work with Enterprise Mobility Xperts?

I’ve worked with a few technology companies on projects such as an IoT product and tracking apps. Since I’m not that technical, I was taken for a ride for the majority of the time. It was completely different with Enterprise Mobility Xperts, and they really impressed me.

One of the lead engineers developing tracking solutions for me had worked with someone from Xperts and he introduced me to them, saying that they had a really good reputation. They also had worked on some government projects, which require meeting certain scrutiny or standards. I met them a few times, and they proposed that I pay for the first milestone only after they’d delivered it. I’d never heard that before. They focused more on the client relationship.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent $45,000–$46,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in October 2018 and our partnership is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They’ve gone above and beyond in working with me. I got a better response than I was hoping for. I have high standards, and I can be really picky with the things I want, but Enterprise Mobility Xperts hasn’t let me down at all.

I loved that their two main developers could take my ideas and bring back a couple of better options later. There were actually ideas that were introduced from their side. They went home and, if they thought of an idea, they actually wrote it down to bring to me the next time we talked. That was really impressive.

Most of the time, when we give a contract to someone, they will try to reduce their workload. In Enterprise Mobility Xperts’ case, they actually increased it. I’m excited about what I’m working on, and I can also sense the excitement in the developers’ voices when I talk to them.

How did Enterprise Mobility Xperts perform from a project management standpoint?

I’ve dealt with a few other companies, and I was really impressed that they actually came to Australia to spend a few days with me and explain what’s going on and how our project will be going further on. I’m creating the product without any sketches, and there have been many times when I asked them to do something in black and white, for example, only to later say that I like rainbow colors better. I never heard anything from them, except “Sure, let’s give it a try!”.

The project expenditure went a bit higher than planned, but I have myself to blame for the majority of it. I started the project as A to M, and now it’s almost A to Z. Requirements increased two or three times as we went ahead. They’ve fulfilled 99% of all requirements, aside from some things I asked for that ended up not being feasible.

What did you find most impressive about them?

With the other companies I’ve worked with, they would provide 10 work hours and charge for 15–20. I’ve probably underpaid Enterprise Mobility Xperts. I don’t think I could say the same thing for anyone else. The initial quote was for $30,000–$35,000, but their work has actually more than doubled from what we initially talked about.

They’re still doing testing, and I’m not being charged for that. They go above and beyond for client satisfaction. I’ve never left a review, for a restaurant or anything else, but I’m more than happy to provide one for Xperts.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They should start charging more. They never underperformed and I was always returned more than what I asked for.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Clients should definitely take a chance on Enterprise Mobility Xperts. Some things are too good to be true, but not in their case. It’s been an incredible journey, and I plan on working with them for a long time.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

Tezz Private Ltd. is an Australian registered new venture company. We wanted to offer a very niche service within Australia and, once successful, in the global market. The service is a point-to-point, crowd-serviced delivery model using sharing economy concepts.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Enterprise?

We wanted to build a mobile app and a web app. As entrepreneurs, it was challenging for us to balance our passion for this project with our everyday work. We were doing two jobs at that time, and could only speak to them in the early morning or late night our time. They accommodated that and encouraged us through our technical challenges. They were very engaging, honest, and forthcoming. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Enterprise helped us create our apps. They have strengths in CX [customer experience] and UX design, as well as a systematic approach to conceptualizing and creating wireframes. Before they punched any keys, we engaged in a lot of debate and discussion about the end-to-end customer journey through the mobile app.

They wanted to get the concept to a certain maturity level. Once we created that reference model, it would be easier for us to create the mobile app and bring the conceptual, logical model to life. That strategy took a lot of time, but really worked for us. We changed some minor features, such as color schemes, along the way. However, building the core of our service offering took up 35% of the time that we had spent creating the wireframes and customer journeys.

Our project development was based on a two-phase engagement model. The first phase was to build the mobile app, complete testing, and then finish beta testing in the Australian market.

The web app, which is currently in development and on hold until we get funding, is the second phase. We wanted to offer our customers a highly interactive interface that implements a solid UX, CX, and customer journey. We’re currently seeking seed funding.

We want to continue relying on them for web enhancements and maintenance of the product. Our engagement will definitely continue into the future, as they support our services and keep the product up to date.

What is the team composition?

Roy [Co-Founder, Enterprise Mobility Xperts] guided us through scoping out our technical challenges, resolving problems, and realizing some of the concepts that he brought to our table. He led that piece of work, but he also got the entire development team to interact with us. They provided solution architects, designers, UX/CX experts, developers, and testers. Roy was our lead and primary point of contact. 

We directly engaged with them and told them what we wanted to see at the end of development. They understood our passion and emotion, and that understanding showed during the development of the product. 

How did you come to work with Enterprise?

A personal friend highly recommended them. Apart from the reference, we did some research on their site and accessed their portfolio. Since we already had direct contact with the company and reference, we didn’t speak to any of their customers. As always, cost was one of our criteria, especially since we had a limited budget for this project. We took a risk to go ahead with them, and it paid off for us. All of those factors influenced our decision to move forward with them.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent 25,000 Australian dollars ($20,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in June 2016 and the work is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We showed the product they delivered to some close friends, who used the entire workflows and options. It is is the criterion that I use to measure how well they’ve performed and matured. We learned from one another in a cross-collaborative engagement. They learned about a certain market and our customers’ expectations. We learned how seamless technology can be when it is managed, monitored, and created collaboratively. It worked perfectly. We didn’t train them at all, but they found the process very intuitive, which was a good compliment to them and their services.

How did Enterprise perform from a project management standpoint?

We were concerned that we were 4.5 hours ahead of them, but were very confident in their ability to coordinate around the time difference. They worked with us at our convenience, within our time frames, and during times we wanted to meet.

They guided us through our role in the Agile methodology that they used. At the end of each two-week sprint, they delivered a demo of a shippable product to us. Our team of directors engaged with them most during the first and final three days of the sprint. We were heavily involved on a daily basis, and sometimes twice a day. As the primary contact from my side, I spoke to Roy each day.

They gave us access to a website where we could describe our expectations, watch their development progress, and view when to expect a shippable product. We could see how the product evolved. This structure was explained to us before we adopted it, but we didn’t feel that we were going through sprints as we progressed through our engagement. It was just a seamless journey. We engaged with them and they incorporated our feedback in a timely manner.

The only challenge was that our time zones didn’t always match, but that was overcome.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The personalization of their services is impressive. They understand my needs and company’s needs, including the needs of my partners who were involved in our conversations. They guided us in certain directions, but they always gave us options to choose from, provided risk assessments, and explained the result of each choice. Our decision-marking was quite informed, and the end product vouches for that. It’s very easy and intuitive to use.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Technology evolves and changes, and better ways of working are constantly being created. I keep abreast with the latest technologies, monitoring how we can streamline development, reduce costs, and speed up deliveries. Keeping pace with the changes in their own field would help them.

Being in India, they were looking to venture into the American, Canadian, and Australian markets. A physical presence to directly interact with their customers in those regions would certainly help them. However, since their whole engagement model is 24/7, I don’t see that as a major issue. Even though they’re based in India, they use tools like Skype to connect with their customers. Time zones were never an issue for us.

From their side, they were offering everything. From a customer’s perspective, we are responsible and accountable for being on top of development. Instead of seeing us as outsourced development partners, we viewed them as an arm of our organization. I could pick up the phone at any time, even if I woke up at 2:00 in the morning, to discuss an idea with Roy and his team. If I needed reports on their burn down, burn up, remaining backlog, and chats, I could ask him for them at any point. There were elements of engagement, technology, and skills.

Sometimes you can see a language and understanding barrier. Not all of them are conversant, but all of them work hard. At one point Roy wasn’t available, so his other partner, Nishant [Co-Founder, Enterprise Mobility Xperts], came into the picture. I didn’t feel any gap in his understanding. He picked up from where Roy left and kept their company informed about what they were doing with us. We couldn’t tell if it was Nishant or Roy. Whoever came to us interacted quite effectively.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Always be part of their product development and design lifecycle, although this may depend on what kind of engagement prospective customers might have with them. We wanted to embed them as part of the entire product and service offering. We wanted to be on top of everything, interact with them daily, and clearly articulate what we were looking for from an experience and product workflow perspective.

Since we knew what we wanted, we spent a lot of time initially planning the process before engaging with Enterprise. Once we began work with them, we devoted another set of brainstorming sessions and workshops to understanding how the product would work and look. Over time, and after some hard conversations, their service offerings and workflows evolved. See them as part of your team, and they will work seamlessly.

My company does bespoke IT solutions for businesses, including mobile apps, software-as-a-service platforms, web apps, and websites. I am the director and key solution architect for the projects.

For what projects/services did your company hire Enterprise Mobility Xperts?

The challenge was to build a website quickly in time for the launch of the client's healthcare operations at a new location. The client also required an agile team.

What were your goals for this project?

It was critical to get the site up and running before the launch date. Aside from speed, our other priorities were having a great user interface (UI) and less time wasted on redoing of work.

How did you select this vendor?

We had an existing relationship. Compared with other vendors, they came out to be more willing and technically suitable for the project.

Describe the project in detail.

The project involved building a website that would provide healthcare services for kids in a wide age range. The website needed to be linked to other government websites and services that dealt with healthcare in the region. It was critical that to have a UI that would appeal to a wide segment of customers because the website is a public-facing service. Each segment of target users should feel represented when using the website. This was a sensitive issue and needed careful consideration.

What was the team composition?

We worked with a team of developers, a lead tech, user interface and user experience people, and a project manager.

What outcomes or results can you share that demonstrate progress and/or success?

The project was delivered on time and within budget. It had a great UI that received positive feedback from the client.

How effective was the project management?

The project management was good, with proper and timely communication of issues. They also gave good advice on tech options.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They were agile and quick to respond to changes. They understood client requirements and were willing to put in the effort to reach the desired goal.

What tips or recommendations do you have?

There is little they need to improve on. In one instance, there was a case where more thought needed to be put on code reusability. Once this was pointed to the team, they made changes quickly.
