What challenge were you trying to address with Digitalis.io?

We needed support to roll out Kafka into an older infrastructure.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Digitalis.io provided a report on our AWS setup. The team also provided expertise on Kafka for six months to help us select a deployment option between AWS, our own setup, and Confluent. Moreover, Digitalis.io helped upskill our DevOps team to operate Kafka.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We were able to migrate to Kafka and develop an event-driven architecture, including managing outages. Our team was able to operate Kafka independently, whereas we didn’t have any background in it before working with Digitalis.io.

Digitalis provided a managed service offering for Apache Cassandra, allowing the Blis engineering team to focus on the core application development rather than the day-to-day maintenance and optimization of the Cassandra infrastructure. Blis' infrastructure operated with large data volumes, high throughput, and very low latency requirements. In addition to the time and overhead savings, Digitalis's expertise with Cassandra allowed Blis to realize performance levels that would have been difficult for us to have achieved entirely on our own.

It freed up a lot of time for our developers to focus on their primary tasks of building our platform and leaving the infrastucture and devops to Digitalis who are the experts in that area.
