Depex built my app from the ground up using my UI designs. Currently, we're developing it natively for iOS. While I coordinate the project, I see myself as part of the team rather than just the client.

My focus is on creating an exceptional product - not just another app in the store, but one that truly makes a difference. I'm aiming for "App of the Year" recognition on either the App Store or Google Play Store. This level of quality requires an outstanding team where everyone contributes ideas and we collaborate on the best solutions together.

I went from having no app to a live, functional product in the App Store - and it runs smoothly. Most bugs are so minor (like an icon mismatch or sizing issue) that users don't even notice them. When issues arise, Depex jumps on fixes immediately, maintaining excellent app stability.

Their support didn't stop at launch - they've been incredibly responsive during post-launch refinement. This ongoing commitment makes all the difference. While we're still finalizing features and only running small-scale promotions, early feedback is positive. My friends and initial users are actively engaging with the app and providing meaningful input.

When technical challenges emerged (like AWS server issues), Depex's size became an advantage - their in-house experts quickly diagnosed and resolved problems. Though we're not yet at scale, the foundation they've built gives me confidence for growth. Their combination of technical skill and reliable support has been invaluable throughout this journey.

Depex Technologies has been instrumental in turning our ideas into a reality. With about 10,000 downloads, it already has decent traction by users in the market so far. Their marketing and business team continues to help improve awareness of the platform as well, so we're confident in its future success.

They're great to work with overall. They use agile methodologies and track project progress in Jira, mostly communicating with us through Skype, phone, and email.

The accessibility, approachability, and professionalism of their team set them apart. They're also a one-stop-shop for all our needs, including development, marketing, and business, which has made it a lot easier for us as a startup.

Our company has been around since the 1980s, and we operate in many sectors internationally, from real estate to the travel industry. We have offices in the UAE, Beirut, the US, and the UK. 3 UMUMI is one part of our organization.

 Apart from this, we run flight and hotel booking platforms, and real estate portals, all within our segment. We’re trying to expand globally. I currently serve as the CTO of 3 UMUMI, in charge of all its technological advancements.

What challenge were you trying to address with Depex Technologies?

It was nothing big. We had a technical challenge on our end, regarding getting a license for payment-gateway compliance from our company. I wanted to introduce our company from Beirut to take over the payments, and I was in communication with our local banking here for this purpose, which took time. Apart from this, it was difficult to develop using the local tech team, which had other tasks.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

In terms of the technical challenges faced by Depex, we had planned for applications with ride-sharing and payment features. They would allow users to select pickup and drop-off locations, would use search and real-time tracking algorithms, and would have a dashboard. Building these would require research, development, and project management efforts.

In terms of mobile app development technologies, they used Swift 4.0 for iOS, and Java and Kotlin for Android. along with that, they used advanced agile project management and DevOps methodologies and tools. Apart from that, they integrated Google Maps GPS features, and they made custom development for the payment features. The website was developed using Node.js and AngularJS, which were their proposals as the most up-to-date technologies to use.

What is the team composition?

Rajneesh (Global Business Head, Depex Technologies) is our main contact. Altogether, there must be around 15 people on the Android, iOS, website, UI, testing, and deployment teams.

 How did you come to work with Depex Technologies?

They’re our regular provider. Apart from this platform, we’ve developed three other custom applications with them in the past.

 How much have you invested with them?

Our total investment so far on this project has been $250,000.

 What is the status of this engagement?

We started the overall collaboration with Depex Technologies in 2015, and we’ve developed a few applications since then. 3-UMUMI-wise, we started the work in December 2016.

We’ve wrapped up, but the maintenance and bug-fixing work is still going on through an annual contract. There’s a lot more to implement on the apps in order to compete with other rideshare apps.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re getting very good feedback from the market and from partners and investors. All of our investors are happy with it. The initial launch made a lot of profit for our organization, and we’re thinking about launching it globally. If we do this, we will be launching the app in multiple languages and currencies.

They used agile methodologies, along with DevOps. We had daily scrum meetings, and everything was executed based on the scrum stories. Each and every detail was planned in the lines of “You will be getting this result with this development time, and this is what’ll be going on in the next phases.”. App development took a bit more time to complete, but everything was good apart from that.

It’s their communicational and management skills. They listen and understand well, and they take creative part in what they’re developing. There are some quite innovative areas in the apps we’re developing.  Depex delivered well.

No, but they should continue to stay up to date with the latest technologies coming into the market.

When I speak of any function they will produce the code for it, they have this awesome team that understands what I want. We developed the app from scratch without any pre-written code as it was a brand new concept. So they met all my expectations achieved my goals in phase 1 on the project.

Well, it's simple. The project was my brainchild and they delivered on time which was April 2019. This has made a major difference in my business. I have confidence that my business can grow with Depex Technologies by my side. They always push me to the limits with all their skills.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

I met with the Team at Depex a month after they start the project, the meeting was purely a face to face presentation of my feelings and ideas for the project and in my meeting, I got to understand that they worked together. They had an efficient project leader who was fluent in English as I'm from South African and don't speak Hindi. The team could understand Hindi but he added that special touch to bring all together.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The ability to produce cutting edge code. My project needed things that were not available so it could not be cloned it had to be coded from scratch. The future of the project as well needs this skill so they will be working on future developments of my project.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Yes. They need to improve on the spelling or use google translate when working and English based app. I had to correct them with some basic grammar. That was the only issue I had other than that it was all OK.
