The project involved the migration of a MariaDB database hosted on AWS RDS due to a critical issue in the existing database version that rendered some records unusable. The scope included a thorough analysis of the root cause, evaluation of potential solutions, and the successful migration of the database to a new AWS RDS environment.

As part of the migration, the team implemented real-time synchronization between the legacy and the new production environments, ensuring zero data loss during the transition. The project also incorporated best practices throughout the process, resulting in a stable, optimized, and highly available new database setup.

We came to Data Sleek asking for them to automatically generate KML files that will be sized correctly to make sure we aren't overstaffing our drivers to make sure we are not overspending on payroll but also making sure we're not understaffing our drivers and making our wait much longer for our customers, we needed to find a happy medium based on current sales. We use KML files to layout our delivery regions so we needed Data sleek to help us predict future sales and to create delivery regions based off those predicted sales so we can optimize our staff weeks in advance.

We didn't come into this project with set deadlines since a lot of the project we were still discovering the solution as we went. As we were going through the project and realized that we needed to pivot the direction of the project in order to get the exact solution we were looking for, the Data Sleek team always accommodated us and made the necessary pivots on their side. The data sleek team was always very responsive through slack and email and always was open to hopping on a zoom/google meet call in order to fix any issues we were facing.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We were impressed with their responsiveness and organized approach in terms of project management, and being able to work with us when we needed to pivot the project to create the custom solution we needed for our business

Are there any areas for improvement or something Data-Sleek could have done differently?

The only place for improvement I would recommend is sometimes, the module and KML generator would break due to a bug or an update in AWS, and they would charge us for the time it took to repair the broken code. I think these updates should come at a discounted price or we should be told upfront want the extra costs would be to fix the module rather than doing the work first and then charging later.

The Data Sleek team ultimately did a great job working with us as we were making changes to the project on the go so this ultimately wasn't a deal breaker for us because we appreciated their quality work and accommodating to us as we built a custom solution, but this would be one area I could see the team making improvement on.

Clusters have been successfully running and we are in the final planning stage of the 2nd phase migration

All tasks have been completed on schedule and as specified. Weekly update meetings are the norm with any additional meetings as needed. They are very responsive, particularly with some issues we faced over a weekend and were happy to help off hours.
