What challenge were you trying to address with Conversion Sciences?
Originally, we worked with Conversion Sciences for conversion rate optimization. We had a lot of site traffic, most of which was generated through paid advertising. Thus, we obviously wanted to increase our conversion rate to get a better ROI.
For this project, we had a number of challenges. A lot of our traffic went to our homepage, where there was a complex intake form that customers had to complete because our products were fulfilled through insurance benefits. It required a number of data points for us to capture that we needed to optimize.

What was the scope of their involvement?
Conversion Sciences has provided us with conversion rate optimization. One of the main projects they’ve worked on was to highlight some key opportunities and implement a lot of testing to rework and improve our intake form.
Initially, we gave Conversion Sciences access to our Google Analytics so that they could understand what data we were capturing and where our traffic was coming from. Since then, they’ve built upon that data. For the last 10 months, Conversion Sciences has provided us with UI/UX design support.
What is the team composition?
We’ve worked with three teammates from Conversion Sciences, including Brian (Managing Partner), Ruth (Conversion Scientist), and Tom (VP Creative), who focuses on UX design.
How did you come to work with Conversion Sciences?
A person in our industry has been doing SEO for a long time. When we needed conversion rate optimization, I went to him and asked for the best in business; he recommended Conversion Sciences.
How much have you invested with them?
We spend between $7,000–$12,000 per month, depending on the projects we work on.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together around 2019, and our engagement is ongoing. We paused our relationship because we got into a backlog due to many different initiatives we couldn’t digest. Still, we ended up coming back to Conversion Sciences.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Reworking our intake form has been a successful project, as we’ve been able to get a significant increase in our conversion rate through that form. When looking at our intake flow, traffic volume, and the structure of our landing pages, it’s noticeable that we’ve obtained a huge ROI from working with Conversion Sciences.
Overall, Conversion Sciences is the best service provider I’ve worked with, and I’ve worked with a lot of service providers. They’ve been a really valuable partner, so it is now hard to imagine not working with them.

One of the things that make Conversion Sciences unique is that they combine conversion rate optimization with very strong UX design, so they truly bring a complete package to the table.
Are there any areas they could improve?
One of our main challenges has been balancing our internal resources with Conversion Sciences's recommendations. Still, whenever we’ve found ourselves misaligned, the issue has been mainly caused by us not being able to execute their recommendations fast enough.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I strongly recommend working with Conversion Sciences if you have enough traffic and revenue. Their services might be too expensive for some companies if they don’t have revenue margins to support conversion rate optimization work.
Still, if you have a lot of traffic not being converted and you’re continuing to spend money on advertising without exploring conversion rate optimization, working with Conversion Sciences is a no-brainer.

I’m the VP of marketing at StewMac. We’re the world’s largest supplier of tools, materials, parts, and other things that people need to build, repair, and maintain guitars.

We engaged Conversion Sciences to increase our conversion rate and improve the efficiency of our paid ads. Our goal was to get more out of the money we were investing in ads while increasing conversions.

What was the scope of their involvement?
Initially, we gave Conversion Sciences access to all of our analytics. From there, they came back to us with a discovery document. It was a list of what they considered to be top priorities based on the information they saw. We then worked together on that list.
So far, Conversion Sciences has performed usability and split testing on our product pages and ads to improve the overall conversion rate of our website. They’ve also worked on specific high-traffic pages within our site. They lead weekly calls with us and walk us through the current tests we’re running and concluding. We talk about which tests are successful and which ones aren’t. Then, we talk about upcoming tests.
In relation to these tests, their team shows up with ideas in hand based on the things we’ve seen and learned and how things have worked out for their other clients. Our team also generally has a few ideas of our own. We use Google Optimize for A/B testing and Hotjar for validating these ideas. The implementation of all the tested ideas falls on our team.
Recently, Conversion Sciences has helped us with our analytics needs. We’ve planned to migrate to GA4 due to the sunsetting of Universal Analytics. However, GA4 isn’t GDPR compliant, so we’ve decided to use Matomo Analytics instead. It’s GDPR compliant, which is good because we have a facility in Europe. The team has helped us set that up, generate reports, and analyze them.

We work with one main point person. He’s our strategist and account manager, and he has developers under him. We also occasionally engage with Brian (Managing Partner). He doesn’t typically come to our weekly calls, but he’s always available if we need to talk to him.

We’re truly impressed with their approach. Their resources are highly logical and methodical. They use data and scientific analysis to make decisions, so everything is driven by data, math, and smart thinking. Based on these, I can say we’ve found a great partner in them. I want to highlight Abraham (Conversion Scientist) for this engagement. He leads our weekly calls, and their team does a great job doing that. They come to our meetings prepared and with an agenda. We can look at a PowerPoint or Google Slide presentation every meeting, and it shows us where we are in our tests, what’s going well, and what’s not working.
Moreover, the work they deliver is mostly on time, and they tend to push us. That’s a good thing because we’re a small team and have a lot of work. Having a truly proactive external team is helpful to us. Our budget has been great, too; we pay them a monthly retainer fee, and it essentially covers all the work we do. We’re happy with what we’re getting for what we’re paying.

What was the scope of their involvement?
Initially, we did discovery calls and went through our websites with Conversion Sciences. They gave us feedback on redesigning specific website pages that could be optimized. For example, we tested out button colors and realized that changing the color from blue to orange resulted in more clicks. More clicks meant more form fields, which led to more conversions.
We did a lot of things similar to that. Some things worked while others didn’t, but we felt that it was worth continuing. Moreover, our team implemented recommendations from Conversion Sciences. We essentially used them as an external consultant that would help us come up with conversion strategies. I’m the director of conversion rate optimization for Internet Brands, an online media and technology company. Our company owns several different domains and high-traffic websites. Our focus is on four specific areas; automotive, health, legal, and home and travel. We receive millions of visitors every month across our various platforms.

What challenge were you trying to address with Conversion Sciences?
We brought on Conversion Sciences to help us with our efforts to improve conversion rates across several of our different legal sites.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
We started with the discovery phase, outlining our KPIs and goals. Conversion Sciences’ focus has mainly been on lead generation for legal websites. We aim to enhance the experience of our visitors, which will ultimately lead to more sign-ups for a free consultation with an attorney.
Their team sets up A/B experiments where we’ll change a call to action, a headline, or an image on one page and then compare it against the control page. We’ll register and compare to see which experience drives more people to sign up for a consultation with an attorney.
What is the team composition?
We work with a senior conversion rate strategist, a frontend developer, and an account manager.

How did you come to work with Conversion Sciences?
When I joined the company, I was asked to hire a couple of different conversion rate optimization firms to compare performance and see how other people did things. It was a new field for our company.
I’ve been in the conversion optimization field for about 15 years and was aware of their reputation. Conversion Sciences is highly regarded in the field of conversion rate optimization.

We’ve spent between $350,000 to $500,000.

We began our partnership with Conversion Sciences in March 2022, and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Conversion Sciences' work has been helping us out substantially. They're exceeding our expectations with the amount of work and services they provide.
How did Conversion Sciences perform from a project management standpoint?
Everything is on budget and on target. We have weekly phone calls with the team and utilize email for communication.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I'm most impressed by the efficiency with which they began working. There weren't a lot of big production meetings or huge presentations; it was very straightforward. They made the most use of our time, which I appreciated. We've worked with other conversion rate optimization firms, and Conversion Sciences are the best we've used.
Are there any areas they could improve?
As far as I can tell, there are no areas that require improvement. We've been thrilled with the team's efforts.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Our experience with Conversion Sciences has been excellent. The team is highly professional. They will always bring their best effort, regardless of the client. If you're looking to hire a conversion optimization firm, having a conversation with Conversion Sciences would be worth your time.

We also spoke about the nature of our customers and our products. Conversion Sciences is consistently testing and making changes to our website based on the results. They’ve stretched beyond the core optimization services over the years and have assisted us with web design and analytics.

We work with 3–4 people.

I was looking for an agency specializing in conversion optimization and attended various conferences and tradeshows with conversion optimization vendors. We selected a small group we thought might be good to work with and then went through a selection process where we ultimately selected Conversion Sciences.

Be engaged with the testing cycle and process. Conversion Sciences does a great job of handling everything, but you should ensure that what they’re focusing on aligns with your business priorities. They are great at what they do, but you must bring your knowledge to the partnership.

What was the scope of their involvement?
Conversion Sciences tested multiple options for our online form and how to improve it. After seeing success with the conversion optimization services, Conversion Sciences started pointing out issues we had on our website and things we hadn’t set up in Google Analytics correctly.
Every month we collaborated to develop hypotheses we wanted to test, and we created a process where we continuously improved the site. Conversion Sciences helped us drive execution and raise effectiveness and efficiency.

After a few months of working with Conversion Sciences, we saw a 40% increase in our online form being filled out; this was a huge success for us. They consistently proved the value of the engagement, so we continued to expand the project. It’s difficult to quantify the impact that they had, but we were highly impressed with the quality of their work.
How did Conversion Sciences perform from a project management standpoint?
We met with them weekly to discuss the projects we were working on and where we wanted to go in the future. We also met with them monthly for updates about what was changing. We communicated via Zoom and email.

We’d like to shout out Joel. He was the heart of our engagement and was always there for us. He brought a lot of thoughtfulness to the project and was engaged the entire time.
What did you find most impressive about them?

All of their work was thorough, and they had a very process-oriented approach. Conversion Sciences was communicative, professional, and always listened to our needs. I’ve worked with many service providers over the years, and this team stands out. They were dedicated to the project the entire time and communicated with us effectively.
