We wanted more leads and hadn't explored SEO before. So we decided to test and measure it. 

Our key objective was clear: to position the agency as the leading event and creative agency in the North West of the UK. 

We broke this down into strategic segments and tackled a series of keywords whilst improving the user experience of the website, the technical performance of the website, the content on the website, and the quality of backlinks. 

Brick Digital mapped out a clear plan and worked in line with our strategy. We still do this and it works very well.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

From the start of the project, we have measured the number of enquiries coming through the website, whether we win or lose them, and the value of the won projects. 

The key decision maker: are we winning new clients through SEO, and is the value of these clients not just paying off the cost of investing in SEO, but exceeding it.

To date, the work that has won through projects that started with someone finding us on Google has proved that investing in SEO was the right decision.

Brick Digital are brilliant at managing projects. They are very responsive and also proactive in providing updates throughout the month, as well as a monthly overview of progress. 

We have monthly calls, sometimes more regular, when we are working on the next part of the strategy. 

I can't find a fault with how they work and the quality of their work.

That they are not just about keywords, content and backlinks, which a lot of SEO companies are. 

They focus on the technical performance on the website, test web page layouts for maximum engagement, provide comprehensive insights and advice to get the best out of your website, and they keep on top of what is happening within the industry, especially Google, so that you stay ahead of the curve.

Nope.

We needed help with SEO for two of our websites.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Brick Digital oversees our technical SEO and position tracking for our target keywords. They also provide us with solutions or ideas to resolve where we might be weak on keywords or falling.

Initially, we provided them with a list of keywords we wanted to track or improve upon; however, looking at the most significant keyword volume wouldn't work since we do a niche activity; this is why they also undertook keyword research and sent us a list to edit and tell them which keywords to target.

The team tends to suggest changes that we implement. Sometimes, the changes they recommend might not suit the nuances of what we sell. When we point out areas we want to improve, they sometimes suggest changes to the structure or layout of the website.

What is the team composition?

We've spoken to three people from Brick Digital. Our specific contacts are Reece, our primary touchpoint, and Lorenzo, the owner and director. However, we don't speak often with him, only if we need something from higher up the chain.

How did you come to work with BRICK Digital?

I found them through a Google search. They're based locally, and we were looking for a company to meet with in person.

How much have you invested with them?

For the first year, we spent £3,000 a month. We now spend £2,000 a month.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in June 2023, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Brick Digital provides a weekly report showcasing our current positioning for some target keywords. Currently, those keywords are volatile, but the general trend line is up, so we're seeing results.

How did BRICK Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

Initially, we had some concerns about project management. However, in the last six months, they've improved. We spoke to Lorenzo about it, and we had a meeting. Since then, the project management service has been excellent.

We communicate via email and Microsoft Teams meetings.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

I work with Reece daily, and Lorenzo is always helpful and open when I have issues with the service or want to talk to him about it.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We're seeing results, and they're open to talking to me and fixing our concerns. Brick Digital has demonstrated a willingness to be flexible.

We need better position results, but they're aware of that.

The key deliverable was positioning NatureMetrics as the number one eDNA supplier in the UK and Europe through a combination of PPC, SEO, digital PR, and content marketing

Measurable outcomes including number of leads generated off the back of PPC, and rankings against target keywords.

Project management was excellent, utilising up to date project management tools, processes, and software.  Responses to requests are prompt and comprehensive. Deadlines are always met.

They're unafraid to challenge your assumptions if the data says something different, which can be difficult in the moment but ultimately pays off

As a customer, its frustrating having to work with multiple agencies and freelances, especially for highly complimentary services.  Offering a Paid Social function alongside SEO/PPC would be a great help.

Our most recent project involved launching a US website with a complex structure that differed from our UK sites. Brick Digital effectively adapted the SEO strategy to accommodate these challenges, providing clear guidance to our team.

We are measuring the success of our project based on Google search results and ROI in the form of candidate placements.

Brick Digital understands that SEO can be complex for those unfamiliar with it. They account for this when explaining their findings and strategies. While I can’t claim to fully grasp every detail of their work, I clearly understand their rationale and our overall strategy. Previously, working with other SEO agencies left me confused about the work being done and its benefits. I have already recommended them to a number of friends and family who are looking for an agency for their companies.

The copy suggestions sometimes felt generic and didn't fully align with our brand voice or key messages. While the provided copy was a useful starting point and easily adaptable, a preliminary conversation about our brand and messaging could help the copy better match our needs from the outset.

The Brick team has a clear and effective structure, with team members taking ownership of different areas, such as backlink generation and SEO auditing. From beginning to end, their communication was regular and comprehensive. Adam and Luke work just as well as individuals as they do in a team, and they set clear objectives that were carried through. Lorenzo is a fantastic leader and was always available to answer our questions.

The Brick Digital team have worked with us on a number of projects and websites. We've worked together on a Heat Pump Manufacturer's website, starting from a complete website overhaul to an industry leader in the space. We've also worked on sites within the ESG environment, data compliance advisory, hospitality and EV charging. Each project has required Brick Digital to own the end-to-end growth and management of the website, setting up highly converting service pages and using their SEO magic to generate traffic.

I've witnessed the Brick Digital team launch a website and scale it up to a few thousand organic visitors in a year or so. I've also seen them take over websites with existing traffic (c.20k monthly sessions) and drastically improve the conversion rates and lead generation. These types of results quickly prove ROI on the investment in their services.

Lorenzo and the Brick Team are very efficient and respond quickly in a fast paced environment. They jump on critical issues immediately and have adapted to our working methods on Slack. They share a monthly report, which is as detailed as it is valuable. We can also customise this as needed.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The most impressive thing about Brick Digital is the director's ability to understand the business requirements and generate tangible results. Too many SEO and PPC agencies focus on sessions and top-line metrics. Brick focus on conversions and revenue, always optimising to drive business growth.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Brick Digital could have done differently?

They are generally very good across the board. We would perhaps like them to use our experiment framework to be more agile but we appreciate this doesn't fit their SEO process. As long as the results are good, I am happy to work with their structures.
