I am the owner of hip bakery serving the local community classic Mexican baked treats with a trendy twist. Our community really resonates with vintage flair and we wanted to build a vibe that would bring folks in for a sweet treat and keep them hanging out for a few hours!

For what projects/services did your company hire AOK Group, and what were your goals?

Our business launched from orders in my kitchen to suddenly two locations in no time and we wanted to make sure we had a foundation for our branding before expanding too quickly. AOK Group was tasked with full end to end marketing from constructing the messaging to targeting and funnel building, paid ad creative and a pitch deck for investors and strategic partnerships.

How did you select this vendor?

We found them through a downtown LA accelerator focused on innovation in DTC brands. They participated in an RFP we put out with 4 other agencies and were impressed with their abilities and the value based pricing.

AOK started with brand messaging which took about 4 weeks. Our workshops were incredibly generative, and my whole team participated. Then they designed our logo and built out the website and pitch deck in parallel. They moved into paid media creative and we ended up retaining them for another nearly 2 years over the course of our growth.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We worked with Lexie and various other team members. She has talented designers and developers who support her mission. Creative director, project manager and strategist all were helpful points of contact.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our foot traffic exploded with the new branding. People got our energy right away and it just felt bubbling and lively. Once paid began for driving to in store the ROAS hit 3 and steadily grew for 2 years.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

AOK Group are really polished and know what they’re doing. Sometimes they pushed back to make sure everything was perfect when they could have sped it up just to finish it. We used Pinterest for moodboards, trello, they do beautiful presentations and design in keynote and Adobe suite. I’m not the most computer literate but Lexie and team made it easy.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Lexie has a way of rapidly seeing where a business is going and what the best way to get there could be. The team’s ability to make others feel and see my vision was extremely moving and very groundbreaking.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Sometimes I wish we could have had more in person creative workshops during covid but that wasn’t possible. This team is awesome - work with them!

I was recommended by a friend.

AOK is helping us to prepare a very professional pitch deck for VC.  They have been extremely responsive and professional.

4 other team members have worked with us from the AOK group.  All have worked in various rolls from strategy to design, and they have all been very professional and effective.

We are in progress, but we are very happy with the work so far.

We used slack and various mediums, which made communication and workflow a breeze.

AOK is not one-size fits all.  They truly have a varied approach to working with any size company.

We have been very happy with the work we have done with AOK, and we are excited to continue to build a relationship with them as we both grow and expand.
