How did Alset perform from a project management standpoint?
Tristan has done an excellent job working with me and helping me understand how my requirements and budget reflect in Alset's hourly rates. Tristan has also explained the engineers' skill set, which has helped me understand how much time I'd need to invest with each engineer to develop the code. The team delivers the work on time and within budget. We communicate daily over Slack and do check-ins on Zoom every few days. Alset tracks all the work in Linear.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Don’t be afraid to ask for a personalized contract. When looking for nearshore staff augmentation services, the clients' expectation usually is that they need to engage in a pretty sizable contract and sign up for a high cost. I suggest not to assume that. When I started with Alset, I had a specific budget I had to stay within, but I knew more work was required than the budget allowed. Alset worked with me to establish a contract compatible with my budget, which gave me peace of mind that I wasn’t signing up for something I couldn't afford. Once I understood the team's workflow, we could add a second engineer to the project.

Introduce your business and what you do there. I’m one of the founders of BeautySnap 360 LLC, a SaaS startup. Our product is a lead generation tool designed to facilitate smoother engagement with visitors on cosmetic surgery clinics’ websites.

What challenge were you trying to address with Alset? We needed a company that could help us build our SaaS tool from scratch.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement? We hired Alset to build a SaaS tool from scratch. The tool facilitates personal assessments for site visitors and allows cosmetic surgery clinics to easily embed it into their websites. The tool is integrated into the cosmetic surgery clinics’ CRM or Google Sheets and provides them access to a database where they can create an account, log in, and review all of the assessments submitted directly on their website.
The tool shows users an avatar and pre-filled areas of concern on the avatar’s face and body. It lets users choose the things they are concerned about themselves, such as lines on their forehead, excess fat, or loose skin, put in their contact information, and optionally upload photos of their concerns. All of that information goes directly to the cosmetic company whose website the tool is embedded in.
The tool is hosted in-house on Microsoft Azure, and Alset provides ongoing maintenance for bug fixes and upgrades.
What is the team composition? We’ve worked with three people from Alset, including Tristan (CEO & Head of Engineering), who has acted as the project manager, and two software developers.
How did you come to work with Alset? I found Alset on Clutch. I chose them for this project because of their extensive experience with building SaaS tools, their affordability, and because they’re local here in Mexico City. I was also able to meet Tristan personally, which built my confidence in their ability to handle this project and gave me insight into their software development approach.
How much have you invested with them? We’ve spent around $22,000 on this project.
What is the status of this engagement? We started working together in February 2024, and the tool was launched in July 2024. We’re still working together.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? We don’t have any metrics yet. We’re developing a sales website in which we would market this tool to cosmetic surgery clinics, and that should be done within the next couple of weeks.
However, we already have this tool embedded in another company that we own, a medical tourism platform for cosmetic surgery here in Mexico City. The tool has been live for around two weeks on that website and has already brought in leads from organic traffic.
How did Alset perform from a project management standpoint? Alset has performed well in terms of project management. They’ve delivered on time and within budget and are very open to our suggestions and requirements.
We primarily communicate through emails and biweekly Zoom meetings, and we use email and Google Sheets to keep track of their tasks.

We started the project in Mexico, but we’d like to expand to all of Latin America. We needed to develop a marketplace to showcase our investment portfolio differently.

What was the scope of their involvement?
Alset developed our website, which connected with APIs to different institutional companies so our clients could see if the company they’re investing in has been sued. They also connected with Forex platforms to import data, among other things. For technologies, they used .NET. We initially provided them with a clear list of requirements we’d read with our development team.
Overall, we wanted to show investors 360° perspectives of their investment. The platform allowed them to see in real-time and through different modules to get an objective viewpoint of the investment.

The team is very good at keeping our project organized and on track to make sure we meet our deadlines. We manage the process through Azure DevOps and mainly communicate on Microsoft Teams.

We’ve had numerous projects with them, from simple landing pages to more complex developments. I honestly don’t know the technologies Alset uses, but all of the projects are custom developments.

I’ve known their general manager for years and seen them grow as a company. Our collaboration has also grown during this time.

We’ve worked with them for the last 10 years on many different projects. Our last project started in November 2019 and ended in January 2020.

Thanks to our collaboration, we’ve been able to empower brands to have space in the digital world. We’re very satisfied with Alset’s work, even though we’ve had some setbacks from time to time. Their team is very committed and always immediately fixes any details that come up.

Their project management is great; they’re very well structured and work with agile methods. We use Slack to communicate, but they are always available for phone calls whenever we need to talk through something.

What was the scope of their involvement?
Alset essentially helped us build our web and mobile app. We incorporated 2-week development sprints and got different teams for specific tasks, such as data management and front- and backend development.

We had one project manager and worked with about five members of their team.
How did you come to work with Alset?
They were recommended to me by a friend. We went with Alset because they had a very broad range of capabilities, especially with the coding language we implemented.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from July 2017–July 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
One thing I can say is they were able to help and educate a non-technical founder on the correct way of accomplishing the development project.
How did Alset perform from a project management standpoint?
They were very communicative and had no problems staying on track for the project. We typically used Microsoft Visual Studio and talked to them through Slack.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I was very impressed with their honesty and communication. The project went smoothly because they were very open and I felt that I could trust them.

One thing that we learned from this project was recommending more quality assurance specialists. They seemed to lack that and it caused some delays at certain points in the process.

I would advise them to request a larger team in the backend if you know you’re going to potentially need more testing.

Easily embeddable tool to be added to any cosmetic surgery website that immediately engages visitors to complete a Personal Assessment including their areas of concern.
Database that is unique to each client that contains all of the Personal Assessments completed on their site.
Admin database that allows the owners of BeautySnap 360 to manage each client's account individually.
Integration with Stripe for each client to enter and change their billing details.
Intergration with Zapier for each client to send the Personal Assessment details to their CRM or a Google Sheet.
Integrated conversion tracking functionality through Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to efficiently track conversions back to paid search.
