I'm the head of recruitment at Skelia, an IT company that provides software services to international customers.

What challenge were you trying to address with AboutHR?

We had difficulties finding recruiters because our market was very limited. It was tough because we needed experts with good English-language skills, which can be hard to locate in Ukraine. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

AboutHR helped us recruit new teammates. We had a kickoff meeting with their team to discuss our job requirements and provide job descriptions. Specifically, we requested candidates with English-language and IT skills. My internal team handled the onboarding process once we brought new teammates onboard.

We contacted the head of AboutHR, who connected us to the account manager and two recruiters.

We'd worked with AboutHR before — their owner knew our company's owner.

We worked with AboutHR from October 2021–February 2022.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

AboutHR delivered 21 candidates that fit our needs, and I went on to interview 12 and hire three new teammates. AboutHR delivered quality resources. They perfectly understood our company profile and culture and delivered candidates with soft skills that matched. We plan on utilizing AboutHR's services in the future to fill non-IT roles once we recover from the Russian Invasion of Ukraine. 

How did AboutHR perform from a project management standpoint?

Our first meeting with AboutHR was on Microsoft Teams, but then we migrated to Skype and email for the rest of the project. AboutHR provided weekly project updates that included the number of resources they'd contacted and the results of their outreach. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

AboutHR's communication was excellent. Whenever I completed an interview with one of the candidates they sourced, I would reach out to the account manager and highlight what was good and bad about their candidate. AboutHR met our requirements perfectly and was proactive.

I have nothing for AboutHR to improve.

I'm the talent acquisition lead for Metro Cash & Carry Ukraine. The company is headquartered in Dusseldorf, Germany, and it’s present in 25 countries. We have over 100,000 employees across Europe and Asia.

What was the scope of their involvement?

AboutHR helps us with HR services whenever we have a vacancy in our HQ; we show them the job description in terms of requirements, experience, responsibilities, etc. They conduct soft interviews with the candidates and send us the info via email.

Thanks to their successful work, we've also partnered in other areas, like IT, real estate, and supply chain — AboutHR became our main supplier for this type of service.

We met them at an HR event.

We started working together in July 2017, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Everyone at AboutHR is highly experienced and deeply understands our needs.

The first success metrics I can mention are the time for closing and the quality of candidates; when working with this type of company, the candidates often won’t fit the job description. In the case of AboutHR, they have many questions in the first stage, when they receive the task from us. All the candidates they send us fit the job profile in almost every case — I don’t remember any candidates that didn’t fit the profile.

Another point for measuring success is that all the people we’ve hired passed the trial period successfully, and 90% of them are still working in our company.

How did AboutHR perform from a project management standpoint?

We haven't had any issues with deadlines. In terms of communication, we use email, WhatsApp, Microsoft Teams, and phone calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their professionalism is outstanding.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don't think there's anything they can improve on — I’m fully satisfied with AboutHR’s work, and I consider them great partners.

For the whole period of cooperation, AboutHR helped us with about 50+ positions (17 contractors were placed). Main services: search and selection of candidates according to our business requirements, screenings (check of hard skills, English level, soft skills, salary expectations)

We have an account manager who works directly with us and several recruiters assigned to different positions

Can you share any outcomes from the engagement that demonstrate progress or success?

I would like to emphasize the high level of communication. The team is very polite starting from the recruiter and to the CEO. I'm pretty sure that we can rely on them in communication with potential candidates. Agency conveys our corporate culture well and understands business needs. They don't ping us every day with questions, AboutHR provides the expertise from the beginning (analyze pool, salary ranges, chance to close vacancy etc)

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We communicate via email and Skype. All information is provided in docs, so additional meetings are not required. In general no concerns, recruiters answer fast

They’re in charge of screening candidates and providing short overviews of them detailing their professional experiences, qualifications, motivation levels, pay rates, and more. From there, our internal team proceeds with the hiring and training process for the candidates that pass the initial screening.

So far, AboutHR has helped us recruit resources for two of our locations.

Sharp, detail oriented. Carefully guided the whole process. Provided recommendations on interview style and hiring strategy to increase like-hood of candidates accepting the offer.

Their personal touch to everything was amazing! We did not feel we were yet another client.
