I think that people should pre-plan everything that they're going to do before making a big decision about making a website. I think that they should consider what they can afford in making monthly payments.

Experience:

My main goal was to spend as little money as I could. I chose the Business plan, which provided me with my own custom domain name, unlimited themes, email and live support, etc. I have unlimited themes in case I ever want to change the layout of my website. I have my own custom domain name, so people can easily search and find me there.

Pros:

I like it because it's cost effective and provides me with great benefits that will help me expand my business.

Cons:

I think that they should invest in more themes and more customization for designs.

Make sure you have a day or more to build your website, and don't rush. WordPress has a lot of options and features and is a great tool. It also provides a lot of customization options making the buidling of a website a bit of a process. The process however greatly benefits the website.

Experience:

I chose WordPress as my website builder because I had the option to post my portfolio/gallery updates as a blog. This allows my customers to see both old and new work without having to look at it over and over again. The only "issue" I found was a lack of layouts/themes that I found appealing. I use all or almost all of the features offered to me by WordPress. WordPress makes it easy to go back and edit posts I have already published. I love this feature as I often go back and read prior posts I have made and notice small errors. I also love that I can view which people visit my website the most, to better assist me in ensuring a maximum number of customers are reached.

Pros:

Easy to use, simple, cost effective, and I can use my own domain while still using the services WordPress offers.

Cons:

More themes catered to photography.

If they are looking for something easy to use and cost-friendly, this is definitely the route they should take.

Experience:

For starters, I love how the coding is open for everyone to use and modify as they please. To be able to create our own themes/plugins is awesome, and on top of that, it is free or can be purchased if you would like. I pretty much use all the features. It's free and super easy to use. It's your own data. You are in full control. You can upload and use plugins. You can upload custom themes and modify theme files (not just styles) if needed. You can make money from it by using your own ads and doing things your way. You can use custom analytics and tracking.

Pros:

I like everything about it.

Cons:

Have not run into anything that I dislike at the moment.

Try Wordpress with a basic package first, and then advance based on your skill and need.

Experience

Wordpress is a cool site with a lot of features like themes, customizing domains, and live chat support to resolve any issues. The site can be easily customized to my needs. I was able to create my site within few days and my domain was up and running. Benefits are that it's easily customized with live chat help desk.

Pros

The pros are quick access to support, easy tools to customize the site, numerous themes which are very attractive.

Cons

Providing more details in the user guide so that we don't have to contact the help desk would be nice.

Read up on literature and expect a good month for getting your website up and running.

Experience

It had the most versatility. I could start out with a blog format, and add a storefront and forum when my needs called for it. I use an ecommerce storefront and blog features as well. I have no complaints so far - definitely difficult to pick up and learn, but extremely customizeable to get exactly what I need.

Pros

There are tons of resources for learning and tons of addons and plugins available for use.

Cons

I wish there was a better way of vetting new addons. It's hard to tell what will work with what, sometimes, until it breaks your site.

Give it a try.

Experience

I selected Wordpress because I had heard more about it, and it felt more familiar. Overall, I have been pleased, but I do feel some more options geared toward more inexperienced users would be useful. I use the search engine, comments, and multilingual features. It's performed well, and I've been able to run my site without investing too much time.

Pros

It's simple compared to other options.

Cons

Additional templates would be useful.

They be somewhat familiar with html if they want to customize their site.

Experience

I chose Wordpress because I was somewhat familiar with C++ and HTML, but I wanted to have some help if I was stuck. I like the customization that Wordpress offers. I also like that Wordpress is so well-known and trusted. The only real problem I have had with Wordpress thus far is that I have had some difficulty navigating the plugins and getting my site to look the way I wanted once I installed a pre-made template. I eventually was able to figure out the problem on my own. I use the customization, analytics, plugins, and templates. The service has performed well. It has given me the look and feel I want for my blog.

Pros

The customization is definitely a plus. I also like all the free plugins available through the site.

Cons

I wish that there was better guidance when it came to trouble shooting.
