Freelock LLC is a web development and maintenance company with a tendency to provide clients with ongoing support for years.

WordPress provides the ability to update content, but not necessarily more sophisticated tasks. It's extremely popular and designers in particular love it due to the fact that it's more about the presentation than underlying data. Compared to other platforms though, like Drupal, it's more difficult to manage regular changes.

In addition, there is a large number of available plug-ins that do the same thing. Therefore, it is necessary to find the ones that are higher quality, some are free and others are not. Most often, they will also require additional customization.

Overall, WordPress should be utilized for websites that require minimal changes or operate as an informational site.

Overall Score I have not seen much to like about it under the hood. We can generally fix things quickly, but we have to do it every time. For someone who likes things organized and easy to maintain, WordPress is not the solution.
  • 4.5 Features
With all the plug-ins, it’s easy to build a site that can do a lot, but much harder to make it maintainable over the long haul.
  • 3.0 Ease of Use
It’s easy for simple sites, but it becomes tremendously hard for complicated ones.
  • 2.0 Support
Most of what we find are code snippets, often written by people who don’t know how to code. This can lead to large security holes, and WordPress is probably the most hacked platform out there.
  • 3.0 Willing to Refer
We recommend it for simple sites, but it limits growth. It becomes very expensive and complicated to do a quality job.

Urban Insight is a technology consulting firm, and while they specialize in Drupal, they are advocates of open-source platforms like WordPress.

WordPress began as a blogging software but has since made it relatively easy to build a website through its web-publishing platform. There are many options available to help bring a WordPress site to the next level, such as visual templates, designs, and plugins. Since it is an open-source platform with developments being made by the community, it is an attractive option for most projects.

However, when a project requires more custom development, WordPress is not always the best option. For instance, when working with large amounts of data and interacting with other systems, other platforms may be a better solution.

WordPress allows for the creation of a website with minimal technical knowledge or programming, so you don't need to be an expert int eh development of WordPress for its maintenance. It is a necessity though to stay current, and this will require effort and a cost.

Wordpress started as a blogging platform and has room for growth. It is open source, and it allows users to have a wide array of customizable features. There are some tutorials online that can help users, and there are plug-ins that can be installed into Wordpress as well. Experienced coders will enjoy Wordpress because of the ease of setup and customization.

For an expert coder, I’m still going to recommend WordPress first because of the ease of getting it setup and running. It’s much easier to customize. You get that customization, and you can get it up and running pretty quickly for an advanced coder.

Wordpress has multiple uses and customizations available. It is an open source where you can build upon the existing code directly. Wordpress enables users to integrate external systems, custom develop many functionalities, administrative workflows, data architectures, and more. Wordpress updates often, but previous versions are still compatible.

Before using wordpress, you must learn in an easier site. You need to have more experience in making a blog to learn to modify it perfectly.

Experience

I like wordpress because it is easy to use and has visual page editors that allow you to drag and drop items around your website; it does not have a visual interface. Instead, it has a WYSIWYG editor that abstracts from the page. It is easy to edit and more flexible in how I can move my entire page and leave it as I want; the difference I would like to mention is hosting. Is a great example of the balance between flexibility (Wordpress) and ease of use (website builders). My site is more profitable and has reached many people because it is well positioned; its designs are more elegant and attract many more visits.

Pros

I can position it better and make the site have excellent pages with all the theme organized.

Cons

In general, I like how wordpress is.

Make your plans beforehand; then, study how Wordpress works if you don't already know. When you get frustrated because you've been up since 2 a.m. tweaking everything that is specific to how you want it, don't get mad if Wordpress ends up being smarter than you.

Experience

There weren't many problems at all but I personally have always thought this website builder was the best. I want to give my clients the full package because they shouldn't expect anything less. The main thing I wanted to make sure was 100% guaranteed was the security; I owe that much to the wonderful clients I have. I would love to sit down and have a conversation just like this one day with someone and explain how much in every little detail I made sure sure this site was up to date, secure, and the most precise with every little advancement I tweaked. I'm sorry the question you asked was very vague. I don't think it would let me write all that stuff. But I'd love to have a meeting sometime and discuss it over the phone if you want more insight.I don't know where to even start. First off, I have fantastic people working for me, and it never would of made it this far without them. I actually have something set up where my clients give feedback in a certain section, and since the day we launched, I've not had one negative comment from them. So, that should answer the second question; the clients making this so big was not only a blessing be the best benefit I've ever got out of anything.

Pros

I don't know when I first started making plans for the site, but I just knew that's the website I was gonna use. To me it was more logical because I couldn't see using anything else but Wordpress. I knew everything I needed to make Wordpress work to make a very secure and surprisingly crazy successful site.

Cons

To be honest, I really can't think of one right now. I wouldn't have had this much success without it.

That it is a good site to check out. I know their are other sites, but this one should be checked out first.

Experience

I figured it seemed like a fruitful website to use although I had a lot of problems initially with setting up my site. I use contact information just in case viewers have a problem. I wanted a good, catchy url and to make sure no one takes it or its already used, I made it unique. I like catching other viewers, and contact info is important. I may not always check my website so I like to know what others think.

Pros

This website helps me manage my business, and was great in helping me build my site. I looked at other templates and got ideas from them.

Cons

It may not have had everything I was looking for, and the site did have complications with me getting into it.

Get hands-on with the back end; educate yourself with online tutorials for to how to make your back end work and function.

Experience

There are lots of readymade, responsive and beautiful templates available for Wordpress; installing the theme on the server setup is easy and less time intensive. The Ajax-based admin panel lets me add/edit/modify the content, images, elements, and functionality quite easily. Also, you get lot of free plugins as an add on in case you require any extra functionality which is not covered under the theme you purchased. The most problematic aspect of Wordpress is that it is not immune to hacks, and most of hacks I have studied do happen to wordpress website. In order to tackle that, i have implemented captcha on all the forms, running my domain on SSL, and given IP based access to data base and C panel. Functionality includes Woo Commerce, Related products, Upsell products, Add to quote functionality, and redirection plugins, ALL in one SEO plugin and host of other features to enahnce my website. Till now, i would say I am doing decently with steps I have taken to maintain website sanctity apart from the initial hacks that i suffered. This has resulted in a more stable website and incresed sales.

Pros

Some of the pros are the easy-to-add/edit/modify backend based on Ajax, universe of plugins available to cater to your extra functionality needs , easy database structure.

Cons

Security is the biggest concern and issue with it.

It's a great website to use for someone who isn't very familiar with website building but wants an online platform for their personal or professional uses. Make sure you have a clear picture of what you want from your website, so you're not overwhelmed with all of their available themes, but recognize you cannot have exactly what you want since it is predesigned to a point.

Experience:

The places where I worked and the class projects I worked on required me to use WordPress.com. At times, WordPress.com limited you in design and alignment. For instance, I had trouble arranging columns the way I wanted them to look. I use SEO tools, scheduling of posts, media management, e-commerce plug-ins, and social media widgets. I had a mostly positive experience with WordPress.com, I did find it pretty user-friendly and appreciated that. Especially, since I used it for my first online endeavors, I found it usable, and it also explained anything I did not understand. It also met all of my needs.

Pros:

Being so user-friendly was a huge positive. Also, all of the available plug-in features make allow for a seamless website. All of the available styles and looks available on the website are also great. You can really personalize your website with WordPress.

Cons:

Sometimes because of how user-friendly the website it, it limits designs and what you can do on your website. For instance, alignment and positioning is relatively set.

Keep learning how the blog works, and post on a regular basis, and if you have more than one blog, keep notes of each blog and how it works in case you need to remind yourself how it works.

Experience:

I had written and self-published a book, and started a half dozen blogs in which I would post general interest articles that I thought would interest people who are open minded, counterculture, and politically interested, feminist articles, and then, every 20 or so posts, I would post the link to my book's url on Amazon. I have a WordPress blog, and so most every day, I post things that the news and my e-mail contacts send me. It was easy to set up the blog; in fact, I set up two, so I could decide to which site I would post and which article I would send to which blog. It took me a while to figure out how to take a URL and insert it into the blog. One part I don't like is that I have to wait until I am all done with the blog before I insert the link, because if I insert it and I need to add something, it will make the link disappear. So, I figured out either to wait till the end or cut and paste the link onto the text area, then go to the chain link on the toolbar and insert it. I learned how to save pictures using the media button up on the toolbar, so that I could have choices in the blog media area, but I still could click on the 'add image from computer' and find another picture to add to the media library. I also added a feature so that the blog can automatically send the post to Twitter, Tumblr and Google+.  I didn't have to cut and paste the URLs for those sites. I wish I could add more auto posts. At the end of the blog, there are buttons you can click on to send the post to places like Reddit, Stumble Upon, Twitter, and again, I wish I could add more share buttons for sites like 'share this' or 'add this,' but so far, I can't figure out how to add the widget that would allow me to do this for more blogs I want to post to. I would like to learn more about that. So, either the post would auto post, or I could go down to the bottom and click on the buttons to post the blog to other posts. I use tags, categories (had to learn how to add new categories), mood, where the blog is located, how to save as draft, how to publish, and then go to view blog to see how it looks and to get the URL to post on other blogs. I am slowly getting followers but not as many as I have on Twitter.

Pros:

Now that I know how it works, it's easy, and it helps by auto-posting to Twitter, Tumblr and Google+. It helps expose people to my blog posts to gain followers, and to post about my book.

Cons:

There's some issue where the link disappears if I add anything in the text area, so I have to add the link last so it doesn't disappear.
