BACKGROUND
Please describe your organization.
Our company is EnVeritas Group – an Internet marketing firm based in Greenville, South Carolina, and London, England. We provide multiple Internet-related services including content and social media marketing, content creation, graphic design, Web design, and mobile apps.
What is your role and responsibilities?
I'm the special projects manager. I split my time between tech projects and social media projects.
CHALLENGE
What was the business challenge your company was facing that incited the need for a content marketing platform?
I wanted something to monitor mentions, conversations, trends, to post for multiple channels in one location and to have the ability to schedule posts a week or so in advance. HootSuite allows me to display clients' Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Google+, all in one dashboard. The ability to add additional streams, such as mentions and lists are nice features as well to better monitor what activity is going on with my clients' social media.
Was there a specific business goal that you were hoping to accomplish?
To be more effective monitoring everyone's channels. HootSuite allows me to manage multiple streams in one place, giving me a broad view of what's going on with my clients' social media activities without having a bunch of windows on my screen. It keeps everything organized.
SOLUTION
Was your company considering other platforms or possibly contracting a content marketing agency?
HootSuite has been the favorite. More recently, I got an email about Buffer adding the option of managing Pinterest on it, and that's good to know. I may look into that option if I find I need to use Pinterest with my clients more.
FEATURES
Were there any software features or tools that really impressed you of which potential buyers should be aware?
The main feature I enjoy is the dashboard and the ability to add streams. It allows me to customize what I'd like to view for each social media channel. I also use the publisher so I can compare that with the editorial calendar. I can make sure everything is there and on track with the editorial calendar.
I also like that it works on any type of computer and mobile. This feature allows me to provide faster response time to any comments.
Can you speak to the ease of content creation and the quality of content curation?
When creating a post on HootSuite, it's important to note which client's social media channel you want to use, but it's easy with the drop-down menu next to where you write the copy. You can also select multiple channels. I like that it shows how many characters you are allowed per channel and how many characters you have used. I typically do not use the link shortener option (which allows link click tracking) so I don't get the benefit of tracking link clicks. The other problem I have is pictures not always loading correctly for Facebook and Google+.
Can you speak to the distribution and integration options available, such as social media channels, websites, or blogs?
I personally integrate Google+, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn to HootSuite, but I only post to LinkedIn and Twitter directly, using the others for monitoring purposes only.
I usually schedule Facebook and Google+ posts directly on Facebook and Google+ because the pictures don't always display correctly through HootSuite. I wish it could integrate Instagram and Pinterest, then I would be set.
Can you speak to the tracking and analytics tools available, such as lead nurturing and conversion rates?
I have not personally used that feature. I think it's a good option, and when people are asking me for suggestions for a social media management tool, I do mention that it has analytics as a feature. I go to each personal page to get analytics, however. Partly because I do not always use the link shortener.
Have you found it necessary to use any of the company's available tutorials or support resources? Was the support useful and accessible?
I found HootSuite to be very user-friendly. I was able to pick up on it without using any tutorials.
Are there any areas of the platform that you feel are not intuitive or that you feel could be improved upon?
HootSuite could expand on the functionalities available, and improve the image posting on Facebook and Google+, but it's a very intuitive tool.
OVERVIEW
We ask you to rate the software on a scale of one to five, with five being the top score. What would you give the platform for ease of use and implementation?
Four. There may have been a learning curve when I first started, but I found it pretty easy to pick up. Someone who isn't used to anything like it would have more of a challenge.
What would you give the platform's features for desired functionality?
Three. It doesn't load pictures properly in some platforms and not all social media channels are supported.
For support, as in responsiveness and resources available?
Four.
For overall usability and satisfaction with the platform?
Four. It's the best I've dealt with but there are things that could be added on.
How likely are you to recommend the platform to a similar business?
Five. I have recommended it.
