Nebo
Nebo is a boat logging app that makes it easy to record and share your boating memories and experiences. The current app offers many features like voyage tracking or sharing boat logs with family and friends, via social media.
The challenge
To redesign and "from-scratch" develop the existing Nebo app and thus improve the app with new features and requirements. The goal of the project is to rewrite the current Nebo app using Flutter and apply the latest best practices when it comes to mobile application development. The current app has been published on Google Play and App Store accounts, but the main purpose of the whole refactor phase is to expand the current user base.
So far, we refreshed the overall user interface and user experience and we've optimized the voyage tracking as well. We exposed the native code to the Flutter part in order to have an optimal codebase for running background services.

Livision
Livision is a brand new and innovative loyalty app designed for Livision optics & eyewear store in Zagreb, Croatia. The app offers special coupons, deals and some other useful features such as checkup reminder and a reminder for buying and replacing contact lenses.
The challenge
To create a loyalty app that users will want to have and keep on their devices instead of just installing it once and forgetting about it. The app needed to improve and expand existing services of Livision optics & eyewear stores by adding digital coupons, discounts and adding some useful features such as reminders for checkup and lens replacement.
How we did it
As with most of our projects, we've organized a discovery workshop between our team and the client in order to fully understand and plan requirements. The output of the workshop was a high fidelity design approved by the client, a clear data structure for the application and a clear development roadmap.
As soon as the data structure was defined, the implementation of content management system has begun in order to stay ahead of the application which needed to read and display that data.
After finalizing the high fidelity app design, the development of mobile app was in place. During the development process, the result of each sprint was a new version of the application that the client was able to download and try out in order to report issues and bugs of the features implemented so that they can be resolved down the road.
After the development phase has completed and the app has been tested and polished, it was deployed on both Google Play and App Store.
Although the application is launched it is still being maintained and new and exciting features are coming down the road.

DotHub
An award winning proprietary IoT product that connects your old devices to the cloud
Our team developed a proprietary solution that integrates with legacy systems and gives them a fresh, new, and a smart interface through IOT. We call this IOTification, a process that significantly lowers the costs of modernization.
DotHub provides easy to use hardware for IOTification of almost every electronic key or electrical interface. Cloud solution provides full control and telemetry data, user can manage each individual device and monitor its state.
The challenge
To develop a fully functional DotHub Gate prototype in less than two months with team distributed throughout the country due to the pandemic and earthquake situation in Croatia in late 2020.
How we did it
Since we were restricted by time and capacity at the time, we've decided to divide the tasks that we can accomplish and outsource the rest in order to cover as much area as possible.
Since the deadline was tight, the creation of brand identity and UI/UX design for the app were outsourced to one of our partner agencies.
The development of the hardware device was done in cooperation with a student at Faculty of Organization and Informatics and our team, while the manufacturing of the device and its components was done by a Croatian company, e-radionica
Mobile application, backend and web administration interface were built by our experienced team of engineers.

Cinemarket
Digital marketplace for buying and selling movies and TV shows rights.
The challenge
Due to the reasons related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Cinemarket team were looking for a frontend development team that could quickly onboard to the project and take over the existing codebase. They've had a fixed release date and even then, the schedule was tight.
With little time on our hands, a significant amount of features to implement, and everyone working from home, we needed to coordinate the whole effort to the tiniest detail. Not to mention taking over the codebase that was previously developed by someone else.
What we had to do
While our job was to bring frontend to life, we needed to coordinate with Cinemarkets design and backend team on a strict timeline in order to deliver everything on time without one side blocking another. With daily calls and weekly retrospectives, we always knew who was working on what and what we should focus on next. The communication was essential for the fast delivery of new features and fixing existing and newly reported issues. With CI/CD in place, we didn't lose the precious little time we had.

DiaHelp
Medical assistance mobile app that helps people with diabetes to receive emergency help and supplies as soon as possible by connecting them with each other.
The challenge
Building a platform which helps users with diabetes get help and/or medical supplements and devices whenever and wherever they need it. The person in need could send an emergency alert to nearby users and they can quickly respond to that alert, thus eliminating the waste of precious time in such situations.
How we did it
For this project, the client had already a detailed list of requirements and a prepared high fidelity design, so we didn't have to go through the full discovery workshop process, although we still had to go through everything and make sure nothing has been looked over. The only output that was missing for the discovery to be complete was a data and communication model. Since both the UI and user stories were prepared, it didn't take long for this output to be ready as well.
Since the design was already prepared, we were able to start with the UI implementation while the above mentioned modelling was in place.
As most of our software development projects, DiaHelp was built using agile approach which allowed us to structure the development plan in two-week iterations (sprints) with each of them resulting in a testable feature that was sent to the client.
After the development phase was near end, we've also started doing more intense QA (quality assurance) sessions in order to detect and polish any irregularities and/or unwanted behaviours. This was to make sure that the product was as ready as possible for publication.
Finally, the application was prepared for publication onto app stores and the source code of the prototype was delivered to the client.

QR Menu
QR menu is a brand new order management platform in which users can preview menus, items and order them through a simple progressive web application (PWA) interface while the restaurant or bar owner can edit what is currently being offered through their admin platform.
The challenge
To build an order management platform which is as simple as possible in order for users to prefer it over traditional menus and calling out for waiters, while also having a clean and responsive interface for the administration part.
The app also needed to offer few customisation options such as color scheme, languages and organization logo in order to feel more personalized for each restaurant or bar. The app needed to be extendable as well.
How we did it
The project was kicked off with a standard discovery workshop which mostly included our designer communicating with the client in order to get as much info as possible for us to start shaping the product development roadmap and start working on screen mockups that will determine the flow and structure of the client and admin apps.
As soon as the roadmap was clear and flow has been determined, we were able to kick off the development phase. We wanted to focus on admin part first because it had more features to resolve and the client app required some of the data that had to be provided from the admin.
Our team used agile approach for the development phase with two week iterations focused on creating a deliverable that can be tested and tweaked later on. This allowed for the client to give valuable feedback and insight right away so things can be updated if needed.
After the development phase was done, we had a two week Quality Assurance (QA) session during which we have thoroughly tested out the app and polished any irregularities that may have occurred.
Finally, upon completion of the QA phase we have deployed the latest version of the application and we have transferred the source code to the client.

Invoice ASA
Mobile application for easy and secure handling different types of invoices and synchronizing it with QuickBooks.
The challenge
The client wanted a mobile application that can create customers and items according to which will be generated three types of invoices. Besides, the invoice should be verified with a signature or photo within the final stage of submitting. Those invoices will be synchronized with Quickbooks to get a better insight into the business data. Also, the client wanted the admin page for managing the user's role and permission.
How we did it
As we didn't work before with Quickbooks, our primary task was research on how to integrate Quickbooks with our application. After researched Quickbooks API, we developed a pattern that will handle data flow of our application.
On the admin page, client created the user with a specified role (administrator, manager, and technician) whose data will be saved in firebase store.
In the mobile application, after successful login, user retrieved permission based on role. With that permission, it has access to create invoices.
User can add existing customers and items to invoice or create new ones.
The last step before submitting is preview where customer/user needs to sign the invoice.
After submitting, the invoice is saved into firebase store.
Users with role administrator and manager can synchronize data from firebase store into Quickbooks.

AZOP
Tasked by AZOP (Croatian Personal Data Protection Agency), Zero Molecule developed two mobile applications to increase GDPR awareness for general public.
The challenge
AZOP was also one of the first clients we had at Zero Molecule. They wanted to develop two similar yet different mobile applications to educate Croatian citizens in the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The first one, called: AZOP, was meant for younger audiences and had more straightforward and more visually appealing content. The second one, called GDPR na dlanu (CRO: GDPR in the palm of your hand), was a full-pledged GDPR manual with search, bookmarking, and other similar features.
What we did
We used the design-first approach, which is why our first step was to create low-fidelity mockups showcasing all the features and presenting them to the Client. That way, the Client could tell us what they did or did not want in their app, and in a short time, we had a clear consensus on how the app should look and what it should do.
Our second step was divided into two parallel processes; The first one was to update the low-fidelity mockups and make them high-fidelity and development ready. The second one was to create an initial project setup for both apps.
The development of the first app started, and as soon as it finished, we've started working on the second one.
Two weeks before the launch, we've sent the unpolished versions to AZOP so that they can test all four apps and report bugs if any occurred.
After the applications were ready, we've published them to the Google Play and Apple Store.
After the launch, we've continued maintaining the apps until early 2019, when our support was no longer required.

Podcasted
Presentational website for Podcasted - a platform that enables branded podcasts and audio advertisements that resonate with listeners.
The Challenge
To reach marketing teams and departments that will understand importance of podcasts as a branding tool, we need a website that is aestetically pleasing and easy to navigate. We wanted to avoid long loading times by providing one seamless usage flow.
How we did it
To achieve continuity, we were able to observe user actions and preload content that will be most impactful for them. By combining PJAX preloading with custom crafted animations, we had total control of guiding user to the next page.
- Constant communication with design team was vital to create look & feel needed to convey the message
- Animations had to be consistent - level of animation polish determines how well people perceive the final product
- Once we built initial version of the product, we worked on tweaking details like duration, easing to get the result we wanted.
- Presentational websites are often performance heavy. This was not an option for us, so we did a lot analysis and testing in various enviroments to reduce loading time.
- After the launch, we are still monitoring website and we are trying to optimise content delivery

Odvoji Po Boji
A project backed by the European Union meant for the city of Bjelovar to educate its citizens about recycling and increase overall eco-friendly mindset
The challenge
While the whole project was a much larger endeavor, covering various areas such as print marketing, educational workshops, TV spots, etc. Such areas were the project website and mobile application, whose goal was to help educate citizens of Bjelovar in proper waste management and notify them about the waste disposal schedule in their area.
Zero Molecule was tasked with handling the digital part of the whole story, primarily developing the Website and both Android and iOS mobile applications for the project.
What we did
We used the design-first approach, backed with the color scheme, image assets, and some rough overall look and feel specifications from the Client. After a few iterations, we had the low-fidelity mockups for all of the screens and webpages, which allowed us to proceed onto the second step.
We've started with the development phase. Our mobile team handled the mobile applications, while our web team dealt with the website and CMS.
When the development phase was nearing its end, we've added user access for the CMS to the Bjelovar staff so that they can start creating the content because it had to be prepared for the launch. We've also sent them the unpolished versions of mobile applications so that we can still fix issues (if any) and be on time for the launch. Our website team did the same with the website.
After the development phase was over, we've deployed the applications to the Google Play and Apple Store and the website was connected to the domain.
After the launch, we've continued with the maintenance of the app, which we still do whenever required.

Hotrio
Cloud technology which puts the hotel's offer in the guest's arms, giving them a statistical insight into the behavior and preferences of each guest.
The challenge
Hotrio wanted a digital platform to connect hotels and its guests. Hotels needed to have insight into the guest's habits. In return, guests would have personalized service. The expectation from the platform was to ease the interaction between hotel staff and its guests.
We made two applications. For a hotel, we made an application with two main sections. The first section was for handling gust's orders. The second section focused on statistics about guest's habits. For guests, we made a mobile-centric application to browser trough hotel's menu.
How we did it
We opted for web apps to avoid the mandatory installation process of mobile applications. Because the guest app is PWA (Progressive Web Application), it can still be installed and used like any other native application if the guest chooses to do so. After the guest opens the web and logs in using the social login app will show its user options to scan QR or use NFC (the QR code and NFC card will be on every table on in a room) to get a specific menu. The menu is different depending on location and time of day. After the guest finished with an order hotel's stuff will get the notification. For the hotel app, we used the same technologies as the guest app to reuse UI components and business logic. The central part of the hotel app is an overview of its guest's habits trough simple UI enhanced with detailed graphs.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the founder of Podcasted - a marketing/advertising services company that helps brands create original podcasts as well as advertise on existing podcasts.
For what projects/services did your company hire Zero Molecule?
We had decided on our brand and designed our website. Our next step was to ensure that the website was developed to our exact design specifications whilst operating quickly and bug-free.
What were your goals for this project?
Our goals were to design the website (which included 3 primary pages and around 4 secondary pages) with a responsive design that included animation without sacrificing on loading times.
How did you select this vendor?
They were recommended by another agency on behalf of our designer. We were happy with the vendor's pricing and their communications with our partner agency and decided to move forwards with the agreement.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
They developed the website based on our design and configurations, often suggesting improvements that could be made and making us aware of challenges, often solving them before they happened. They were also responsive and quick to make any changes we requested.
What was the team composition?
We managed the project through our partner agency who worked directly with and managed Zero Molecule and their team.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
Prior to working with Zero Molecule, we were simply an idea. Zero Molecule helped us bring our proposition to life and we used our new online presence to attract senior decision-makers from some leading companies, which we were able to have a conversation with. I do not believe we would have been able to do this without a web presence.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
We managed the project through our partner agency who had in-person meetings with Zero Molecule as well as communications electronically via email and WhatsApp, there were no issues in communicating messages from one party or another and I experienced language barriers or timezone difficulties.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
They are reasonably priced and their team have a wealth of expertise in web development. They can answer any question you have about the development of your project adequately and promptly, as well as deliver both on-brief - the key for any project.
Are there any areas for improvement?
The project took slightly longer than expected and progress seemed to start off slow, however things quickly picked up. Overall, I was satisfied with the schedule of the project. I assume this was simply an issue of availability and with us being a small budget project, we were understandably not a priority, note this is not at all a reflection of the attitude or communications of Zero Molecule as a company, but simply my own experience working with them. If we had been given accurate website deadlines proactively, that would have been helpful to arrange our launch marketing activities on-time too.
