What was the scope of their involvement?

After purchasing different types of consumer data, Yodel utilized their calling and avatar technologies to reach out to consumers in our target audience. Their team then pre-screened clients. If a client met the minimum requirements that we established, they transferred the call to us.

What is the team composition?

Typically, I was in contact with a team lead. For additional questions regarding services, I escalated up to the director of sales.

How did you come to work with Yodel Technologies?

A former associate of mine previously worked with Yodel and introduced them to me. They were in a position to assist us in a variety of ways, whether it was delivering calls or helping us reach out to our own data files.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $130,000–$160,000 a year on their services.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started our partnership in November 2018 and paused the engagement in March 2020. We paused production in response to COVID-19, but if we open back up, I would definitely re-engage them.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Yodel was proactive and eager to assist us in improvements. I ran weekly reports and provided them with performance metrics. Based on the data, they made adjustments to try to optimize the success rate of the leads delivered to us. From 2018 until 2020, we constantly improved with them.  

How did Yodel Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicated on a regular basis via Skype, both messaging and video conferencing. Their team was available when we had any questions, concerns, or modifications to our operations.

Yodel ran a professional organization. They were customer service oriented and did everything possible to exceed the standards that we set for them.

If I had issues, they quickly responded. Their team was transparent in their approach to the engagement, providing us with updates and insights. They were always willing to talk through issues and collaborate on possible solutions.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We appreciated their level of professionalism. Their team was willing to collaborate on ways to enhance their efforts. I was impressed by their willingness to delve into the data to optimize lead quality.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would’ve been useful for them to have had more or different data sources. They had limited data sources available, which limited lead volume.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Meet with them upfront to ensure clear processes. Collaborate on solutions and ask for Yodel’s suggestions to address the challenges you face. They have interesting technologies and can provide solutions.

I’m the SVP of a social media platform aimed towards empowering hourly-wage workers.

What challenge were you trying to address with Yodel Technologies?

For a lot of our clients, we have what we call our “call to apply” product which allows them to use the telephone to submit an application for a job. We buy transfers from other call centers of people who are interested and eligible to do the activity we’re looking for. We hired Yodel Technologies to help us with this.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Yodel Technologies sends us transfers of people they have on the phone already because they qualify them for interest in one of our employers. They qualify the candidates based on certain criteria that we give them.

The team goes through and makes sure that the user is actually interested in working for a certain employer and is eligible.

What is the team composition?

We work with 5–10 campaign managers depending on how many of Yodel Technologies' clients are engaging with us. 

How did you come to work with Yodel Technologies?

I ran lots of tests with different call center services, and Yodel Technologies performed the best which is why we chose them.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement began in October 2017, and we’re still working with them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The key metric for all of our clients in the way that Yodel Technologies engages with us is about the cost of customer acquisition. In Q4 2018, we ran into a severe quality issue that was driven by our end-client tightening their backend metric in terms of what they needed. 

I then went to the Yodel Technologies team and told them that that was something we needed to clean up. Over the course of a month or so, they ran a series of tests which materially lowered my cost of acquisition, leading to a more sustainable program.

How did Yodel Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re good overall. The team executes well when we clearly communicate our goals. They do a good job of making sure that they’re on top of their reporting and driving towards that same success metrics. We communicate via email, but I’m able to phone them if needed.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Many people are looking for offshore call center services because they’re cost-efficient. This often means a language barrier due to differing accents. However, Yodel Technologies figured out how to address this problem that exists in the market by creating a more controlled environment.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I’m happy with their services overall. They follow through with whatever they say they’re going to do. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure you clearly define what success looks like and the goals you want to achieve because ambiguity doesn’t work in a call center relationship.

They’ve done a great job of hitting our cost per action (CPA) targets. We’ve been able to build more cost-efficient and qualified call flows across many of our vertices. That takes the place of leveraging onshore agents, which are much more expensive for us. They’ve scaled to the volume requirements that we’ve needed on all of our campaigns and effectively optimize calls based on specific performance feedback from us. 

Because of their great track record with us, we don’t need to oversee their work as much. We’re confident that they have the right combination of quantity and quality.
