Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the president of Diamond B Tractors and Equipment, and we’re a Mahindra tractor and Bad Boy tractor and mower dealer.
What challenge were you trying to address with YellowFin Digital?
I needed somebody to handle 100% of our digital presence because I don’t know anything about the digital world. I wanted to hire someone local to come out and see us, get to know what we’re about, and visit from time to time to become familiar with the market in which we live.
What was the scope of their involvement?
I’m not sure what they used but they handled website development and design for us. I didn’t have anything to do with building the website, YellowFin took care of all of it. Towards the end, they asked for my input on things. They kept me up to date on what they were doing, show me mockups from time to time, and communicating how close we were to launch.
They looked at what our competitors were doing, not just locally, but also other successful firms in this industry.
What is the team composition?
Keith is the CEO and Allison was in charge of web design. There are other people in the background, but I mainly deal with Keith and Allison.
How did you come to work with YellowFin Digital?
I simply searched for a local digital marketing team.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent about $60,000–$70,000 USD at this point.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in late 2020 or early 2021, and the partnership is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’ve seen more people coming in thanks to their work. I simply instructed them to make the phone ring and people come in the door. They have a dashboard to track the numbers, but everything seems to be going fine from my point of view.
How did YellowFin Digital perform from a project management standpoint?
They’re really good at this. We talk daily about what they’re doing, either through text, phone calls, or email. Keith also comes out to visit us often, which is my favorite thing about them.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The fact that they’re local and that they respond quickly is what impresses me most. We’ve dealt with other companies that would take days to respond to our requests, but YellowFin Digital is very responsive and fast in acting in whichever direction we decide to go.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I have no complaints. I think they’re wonderful.

I would recommend hiring them — just don’t be in my industry.

My is Jordie and I am one of the owners of River Ruby Boutique. We are located in Three River Texas and have been in business 7 years. As the owner, I am hands on and oversee all aspects of the business from buying to customer support.
For what projects/services did your company hire YellowFin Digital?
After 7 years in business, we decided to rebrand. We hired YellowFin for everything. They redesigned our logo, rebuilt our website and are currently running social media ads for our company.
For the minute I talked to Keith on the phone, I knew they would be perfect for the project. We had a vision and they nailed it! We are also very pleased with our Ads results so far.

Our goals for the project are to create life and value to our brand. We are a family owned and operated business with a story and before hiring YellowFin Digital, no one ever saw that.

We hired YellowFin to rebrand our business. They created a new look from the logo down to the home page on our site. They completely revamped our site giving us a more uniform style and added touches to make it more professional.
Every page of website looks incredible and now tells a story. They helped guide us to make our pictures come to life. We are currently doing ads with them and have already seen great ROI.
What was the team composition?
The first person I spoke with was Keith. He is amazing and helped our vision come to life. Autumn was in charge our our logo, business cards and social media graphics and she nailed it!
We told her what we wanted and it came out better than we could have imagined. Alison has been our contact for the website and ads. She is great! She makes it so easy for me to understand and tells me exactly what they need for success.

Our total sales are up 70% since the new website launched and our online sessions are up 41% to date! We have a 3.5% ROI after only one week of ads.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
YellowFin make the workflow so simple. Communication is key on projects like these and this team was on it! We emailed and chatted about various things for the website, logo and ads and everything was done right away.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
Roland Barrera Insurance is a small insurance broker primarily working in the employee benefits segment, including health, dental, and vision. We help employers get the best product available at the most reasonable cost.
I’m the chief compliance officer of the company, and I’m a lawyer by trade. Because we’re a small company, I do a lot of other stuff, too, and that’s how I got to work with YellowFin.
What challenge were you trying to address with YellowFin Digital?
We wanted to gain a larger internet presence, and we needed to get some website work done. We had a network that we could tap into, but we were growing and wanted to continue to grow. We needed to push hard on digital marketing and generally having a presence on the internet.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We initially just wanted a website that we could send to people. I’m not the biggest internet person, and I don’t know a whole lot about technology; however, Keith (President) gave me a bit of an idea about the other things we needed to be doing in order to increase our traffic. He explained the value of SEO and digital marketing to me.
We had an idea of whom we wanted to target, but YellowFin has helped us finetune those demographics and develop the most effective ad strategy for contacting those people. We’re targeting an older demographic, so YellowFin suggested we focus on Facebook and Google Ads.
What is the team composition?
We’re working with a project manager and a content creator from YellowFin.
How did you come to work with YellowFin Digital?
The company had hired someone from out of state before I came onboard, and that person was doing a terrible job. I’m big on supporting local businesses, and I asked the local chamber of commerce for recommendations. They gave us contact information for a couple of people, and YellowFin was the first team I called. They were perfectly happy to just put a website together for us, but they talked to us about our general goal of online branding.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent $20,000–$25,000 with them so far, out of which $7,000 was for the production of the site and various pieces of content. The rest was for digital ad buys. We’re actively looking to increase the budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with YellowFin in March or April 2020, and it’s ongoing. We’re planning to fully start SEO in January 2021, and we’re excited to see what else we can do. I’m looking to see how we can increase that budget in 2022. I envision working with YellowFin for quite a while.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We were a bit hesitant about digital marketing at first, but it was cool to see analytics on the demographics we were reaching. In our minds, a digital presence just meant having a website, but YellowFin helped us understand that it’s a multipronged ballgame. We also needed ways to get people to our website from searches.
We’ve gotten a lot of traffic and contacts just in the last couple of months. We definitely have traffic that we didn’t have before, from industries we hadn’t previously broken into. We’re getting inquiries from some larger employers, but most are from small companies, and that’s predominantly whom we work with anyway.
We use an internal database to track our prospects, with two categories: in-network and out-of-network prospects. Our goal was to increase out-of-network ones, or people who’d never come to us before. Those prospects have increased from zero to nine between March–September 2020. That may not seem like a lot, but it’s quite a bit for us. Many of these companies are small, but each has around 25 insurable employees, so just one new employer is a significant boost for us. This is really exciting and cool to see because we didn’t have it before. I don’t know anything about the internet, so it just looks like magic.
How did YellowFin Digital perform from a project management standpoint?
They’re 100% on top of it. I wear a lot of hats around here, so there have been times when I got behind on stuff. YellowFin keeps open communication, and they’re constantly reminding me about what I need to get to them.
There’s never been a time when I wasn’t able to get a hold of either their creative person or project manager. One of the things that’s endeared me to them is that they’re so responsive.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The issue with the first person we hired was that we were getting no response whatsoever. The main thing that has impressed me about YellowFin is their level of responsiveness. They make any content changes I want immediately. For example, when COVID hit, we wanted to put a banner on the top of our website, and the task was super seamless. I talked to their project manager and creative person, after which they gathered the material and delivered exactly what we wanted. That’s been extremely valuable because we have people coming to our site just for the COVID page.
They’re also receptive to our ideas. The other person we worked with just pushed what she wanted. YellowFin took what we wanted and made it happen.
Are there any areas they could improve?
The only hiccup we’ve had was getting a direct link to their account for payments, so we had to use a credit card. We’ve talked about that, and it’s a very small improvement point. It’s definitely not a deal-breaker.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
They should be receptive to what YellowFin has to offer. I know that business people can be concerned with cost, but business is all about cost, all the time. We really have to see what we’re doing with YellowFin as an investment into the future. When I talk about spending more money in fiscal years 2021 and 2022, I’m talking about an investment in the company’s future, so I don’t see that as cost.
Anyone wanting to work with YellowFin should tell them what they envision for the business and let them take the wheel and make it happen. If you’re involved with them at every step of the way, they’ll be fully transparent with you and make sure you get what you need.

I’ve tried many other digital ad firms, and none of them were able to produce tangible results. I’m the COO of Jules & James Boutique.
What challenge were you trying to address with YellowFin Digital?
We hired them to create our website.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We explained our goals to them, showing them how we wanted everything set up. We provided fonts, logos, and other assets, but their team handled the whole design process. They work on the branding colors for the site, connecting our Pinterest board, and creating several features, including our welcome page, an API for UPS shipping, integrations for videos, and pages for our loyalty and marketing programs.
Their team also handles our marketing efforts, working specifically on our Facebook Ads. They pull all the content directly from our website. Recently, they’ve begun developing an app for us, too.

We started around May 2018. The website was completed in August 2018, but they’re still working on the other parts of our project.

We have a 13% ROI with our Facebook ads. We’ve seen a really good return month-over-month (MoM) from their marketing efforts. We don’t have any metrics about the website or app, but the marketing results have been phenomenal and we’re considering increasing our spend with them.

They’re perfect. The communication between our teams always went well. We check in regularly and they’d let us know what they needed from our end. Keith is on top of everything, emailing daily if something needs to be remembered. If our project isn’t moving ahead as it needs to, it’s because they’re waiting for us.

They made a really great impression on us in the beginning so we’ve stuck with them. Keith has always been really upfront and straightforward, which I appreciate. If I don’t like something, he’ll fix it. He under-promises and over-delivers. For example, if something is supposed to take three months, he’ll do it in one. We are an eyelash extension salon. I'm a founder and partner.
What challenge were you trying to address with YellowFin Digital?
We wanted a new website and branding package.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They designed and built our website, and they created business cards, policy and procedure manuals, branded sales collateral, branded social media, and SEO and PPC after the site was built. The website has a comprehensive backend that allows our managers to submit vacation requests, download documents, and access employee records. On the frontend, clients can book appointments and view services. For our social media, they create content and manage our accounts on various platforms.
What is the team composition?
We dealt with one point of contact almost exclusively. I know he works with a few other team members, but that contact took all our requests back to his developers.

My wife heard about them through word of mouth. She spoke with an acquaintance in the industry, and they recommended YellowFin. They knew what we needed and had a good idea of ways to reach our clientele.

We started working together in December 2018 and opened for business in May 2019. They still act as our web and social media managers.

They hit all their timelines, even though we changed the color template late in the game. That change meant retoggling pages on the site and redoing some of the branding materials. There were no problems with that, and we were really pleased with their flexibility. Our ranking in searches continues to get better and better, and we're on track for where we think we should be.
How did YellowFin Digital perform from a project management standpoint?
They're excellent project managers and very easy to work with. We have monthly calls with them, and they often waited on us for deliverables. They knew what we needed and helped us manage get everything done on time in a logical order. We could text, call, or email him, and we heard back right away.

Their responsiveness sets them apart. They're very quick and always available by cell phone. They do what they say they will, and their estimates are accurate. Beyond just building our website, they acted as consultants and came to us with their ideas. I've worked with other companies, but YellowFin’s ongoing SEM work is so much better. They take the work personally, and our brand performance is very important to them.

I don't know of anything they could improve. I'm very happy with their work, and their prices are competitive. They are very accommodating.

Be communicative and thorough about your expectations. They're very good listeners, and they will give you what you need. They'll also point out any weaknesses in your plans and can share their ideas for improvements.

Describe the project in detail.
We shared our ideas for the website with YellowFin Digital, and they got started. They presented several options for the logo and made revisions with our feedback. Once we finalized the logo, they created the wireframes for the site and began working on mock-ups. After we were shown two options for the homepage design, we selected one and YellowFin Digital designed the other internal web pages to match.
From there, the team moved onto developing the platform. They used Laravel for the backend. Once we approved the beta version, they began testing the platform with their QA team.
