Gathering energy consumption data from thousands of IoT devices
The platform's mission is to centralize the collection of energy consumption information and statistics from physical devices.
We built a Cloud platform that collects energy consumption data, such as devices power consumption in a time period, ALS saving, along with additional data and statistics. Additionally, it provides services to external and internal apps.
This platform also offers services for IoT device commissioning, aiding installers and end customers to do their own device placement (lamps and thermostats) in a geo-coordinates located floor-plan. The platform mediates with external services such us: HVAC based services and Particle devices.

Smart Building control and automation management
Our client was looking to create an application for Building Administrators, to allow them to manage smart devices within the building.
We created a multi-tenant SaaS Control Center And Dashboard, which allows Administrators to design proper device placement, monitor real-time energy consumption of each device or device group, review periodic reports, and integrate devices from different brands (not just their own).
Having all the energy consumption data allows the system to not just track, but also optimize energy consumption through time. This is accomplished through the creation of Optimization Scenarios and Automation Rules.

Integrating existing systems and revamping their usability
A major energy distribution company in Argentina, after an internal audit, determined that it needed to improve integration between their own systems.
Given that most of their distribution management is performed by contractors (network maintenance, network topology supervision, outage planning and outage management), keeping track of the materials used for these operations was key.
At the time of the audit, supervision and tracking of materials was done manually by supervisors, in a time consuming and error-prone fashion, with no integration between Work Order management and approval and physical Inventory Management.
A Software Archaeology Process was executed, allowing us to deep dive within the business rules and implementation of their existing systems, identifying the modules that needed further integration, as well as existing technical debt and architecture and design considerations to be taken into account and/or reviewed.
Using the output of the Archaeological study, we implemented the bridge between both systems allowing for real-time integration between Work Order Workflow Management and Inventory Management and providing traceability of the entire process.
Not only that, but we also revamped their systems through simple and intuitive UIs, eliminated the need for paper forms within the process, added configurable Approval Chains with programmed absences, and included system-wide push-model notifications for realtime workflow state tracking by users.

Exposing legacy Cobol programs as scalable APIs for thin clients
The City of Buenos Aires Tax Department had the challenge of unifying all existing tax systems by Individual accounts (or CUIT in Argentina).
To achieve that we created a Services Platform over a Service-Oriented Architecture, along with a thin web client. The services layer used Web Services to expose the underlying business logic, which was made up of pre-existing COBOL programs. The web client we built was a thin layer that would only be responsible for presenting the results in a clear and concise way.
The unified Tax Platform ended up being composed of a multitude of services covering hundreds of scenarios, providing extremely valuable information to tax contributors. The platform is currently processing over 150k transactions a day, with peaks of 50k per hour.

Cloud Appointment Scheduling and Patient Management System
Our client, who had been providing their propietrary software to major Diagnostic Centers in Buenos Aires, was looking to update their systems (client-server) to more current technology and architectures.
It was an ideal opportunity to apply the Cloudification practice, adapting and adopting Cloud technology to ensure scalability of their platform.
A web application was created to manage patients (family groups, medical coverage, etc.) as well as appointment scheduling management, and providing access to lab results.
Azure provided mechanisms to integrate the web application to their legacy scheduling platform (through Service Bus communication), Azure SQL Databases, Redis caching, CDN, and Application Insights for realtime monitoring.
As a result, they were able to go to market with an innovative and scalable solution.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a project manager for a software company.
What challenge were you trying to address with XSide?
XSide has been our technology partner for more than 10 years. They support us in many of our projects. For this project, we needed help with website architecture.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Currently, we’re working with an architect from Xside on Java web development. They provide us with specialized resources and consulting and collaborate with us in projects related to website architecture.
What is the team composition?
We work with two web architects and some developers.
How did you come to work with XSide?
Our company has been collaborating with them for a long time. I believe our CEO knew their CEO, and that was how we first approached them.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together around January 2007, and it’s a continuous collaboration.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The last project was a great success. It was one of the biggest projects we’ve had as a company, so it was very important for us. We built a governmental website for which we created a solid frontend and tax system. The project was very well executed, and they provided us with great support, so we’ll continue choosing them for the following projects.
How did XSide perform from a project management standpoint?
We mostly communicate via WhatsApp and email. They’ve delivered according to our expectations and always on time. That’s one of the reasons why we’ve collaborated with them for so long.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’re very detail-oriented, responsible, and strict with deadlines.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Whenever something isn’t working right, we talk it over and correct it, so I wouldn’t know what to say.
The last project XSide worked on came to fruition successfully, blowing the client away and meeting all of their expectations. The team goes above and beyond to ensure outstanding quality results, which has secured them a long-term relationship with the company.
