BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the CEO and Founder of a web application and an interactive chart platform that caters for participants of the oil market.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire XPGraph?

We hired XP Graph to improve and redesign our first MVP. We also got them later to add new features and handle new data sources feeding our databases.

What were your goals for this project?

The goals for this project were to improve the user interface of our platform. The other goal was also to add new features and made sure they were implemented with minimum disruption.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

Word of mouth from a previous client. We interviewed other vendors as well, but XP were the most professional.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

We had multiple projects with them as we used XP for 4 months. Before work commenced, we provided them with a detailed document of the tasks and our expectations of it. We had weekly calls on Skype with them explaining their progress and if they had any outstanding questions for us. In addition, they sent us a weekly report on how each task is progressing and how many hours are being used. XP were mainly responsible for making User Interface improvements but also to add new features that we requested

What was the team composition?

The team consisted of 4 people. Consisted of a project manager, 2 developers and web designer. During the project, one of the web designer left but was replaced.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

We have had good user feedback on the new and improved layout. However, unable to give proper metrics as our product is still a few weeks away from launch.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Project management was very effective. Any delays or issues were properly communicated. We used slack for our daily discussions and Skype for weekly catch-ups. Most members spoke good English so there was no language barrier.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their work ethic and their deliverables. They were also very realistic on what was achievable. Some other vendors we worked with always promised everything and never told us what wasn't possible. Also, they took their own initiative and gave us feedback on what can make the product better from their own opinion.

Are there any areas for improvement?

The main area for improvement was they deployed code in big chunks. That gave my Co-Founder occasional headaches as deploying it from his end created a lot of issues. He constantly asked for smaller and more frequent deployments so the merge always went smoothly and took less time from his end. The other area for improvement is on the finance side. If possible, they should get a Euro bank account. As transferring money to a Belarus bank account has a lot of costs (especially from a UK bank)

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

We’re a digital strategy agency that produces digital experiences. Founded in 2001, we work with clients and partners worldwide. As the executive project management officer, I'm in charge of ensuring client satisfaction while staying on time and within costs.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire XPGraph?

We relied on XPGraph to provide web development services for our client, who was an international nonprofit.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goal was to build a strong website that would allow our client to be perceived as the leader in their market. The site needed to display content in four languages.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We had worked with XPGraph for years and were very happy with the quality of their service.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

XPGraph developed an international nonprofit website, implemented content in four languages, and even designed some elements before handling the user tests, debugging, and deployment. We didn’t have a clear workflow on our side, so they had to do some additional development. But XPGraph was able to adapt quite efficiently to our needs.

What was the team composition?

We had two main project managers who were our direct and permanent points of contact.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The new website increased user trust for our client’s programs. Event bookings jumped by 42%, and we saw more scholarship program bookings and online course bookings. It was a clear success.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

XPGraph was on time for every single release and, on some occasions, even delivered more than expected. We mainly communicated through email and Slack, so we didn’t face any surprises during the project.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

It was a big plus to have contacts that could talk about everything. When working with other development agencies, we usually talk to both the project manager and the wider team. But with XPGraph, the project managers were knowledgeable about all subjects, from the technical details and UX/UI to the business analytics. This allowed for a better, more streamlined communication flow.

Are there any areas for improvement?

There’s very little that they could improve on, but, if I had to pick one thing, I would suggest that they have a more in-depth debug and testing process.

Feedback summary:

XPGraph has proven to be a reliable and skilled vendor during an extensive engagement. Their work is sustainable and has been well-received by end users. The team communicates well and is responsive to all issues. They offer superb quality at a reasonable price.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am a co-founder and the CPO of a subscription-based software company that landlords or property managers use to manage their buildings or developments.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with XPGraph?

We hired XPGraph to build our web application and our mobile applications.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our internal team handled much of the design, but we still relied on XPGraph for some of that process. The bulk of their responsibilities came in the development of our products. They completed the backend of our web app using MongoDB and Node.js, and they used React for the frontend. The mobile apps for Android and iOS utilize React Native. A central component of these products was the ability to communicate across platforms—a function that XPGraph helped make possible.

What is the team composition?

We work with one full-time project manager, a senior frontend developer, a senior backend developer, and a part-time designer.

How did you come to work with XPGraph?

I’ve worked with their team on various projects for the last decade, so when it came time to find a vendor, my decision was relatively easy.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent between £50,000–£100,000 (approximately $66,350–$132,700 USD) so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement began in September 2016 and remains ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

XPGraph has always built our products well based on our requirements. They’ve managed to help us reach our goals. Our clients love our products, which reflects well of XPGraph’s work.

How did XPGRaph perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve been superb. We use Skype to communicate, and they typically respond within minutes to any issues—even on the weekends.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They set themselves apart with an excellent quality-to-price ratio.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, nothing comes to mind as needing improvement.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

For any future clients hiring them as an offshore team, I’d recommend giving them clear instructions and business requirements. Doing so will help XPGraph successfully build your product.
